For the week, all squads dropped their series, including Nashville (2-4), Biloxi (1-5), Wisconsin (2-4) and Carolina (1-4).

Transactions:

  • RHP Logan Henderson recalled to MLB Brewers from AAA Nashville
  • SS Jesus Made promoted to High-A Wisconsin from Low-A Carolina
  • INF Luis Pena promoted to High-A Wisconsin from Low-A Carolina
  • LHP Bryan Hudson (designated for assignment while playing for AAA Nashville) claimed by Chicago White Sox
  • RHP Elvis Peguero (designated for assignment while playing for AAA Nashville) claimed by Chicago White Sox

Game Action:

Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 8, Nashville 7

Via the Sounds’ website, game details and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Late Comeback Falls Short, Drop Series to RailRiders

Down three pitchers as you’ve noted in the transaction log, Manager Rick Sweet had to make do with a starter throwing on 4 days’ rest and two relievers who’d also logged action in Friday’s doubleheader.

Despite this limitation, the team nearly pulled off a series-tying road victory, with starting LHP Bruce Zimmermann (6 IP, 5 R, 8 H, 1 BB, 7 Ks) throwing solid ball through 4 innings before tiring and conceding an early lead.

3B Oliver Dunn had stranded two baserunners with a 1st inning strikeout, but came through a 2-out, 2-run double to push the Sounds’ advantage to 4-1 in the top of the 5th inning.

In the bottom of the 5th inning, Zimmermann countered a hard hit single and double with back-to-back strikeouts before yielding 4 runs on 3 consecutive hits for a 5-4 deficit.

RHP Blake Holub (1 1/3 IP, 3 R, 1 K) needed only 7 pitches to register 3 groundouts in the 7th inning, but faltered in his attempt to provide more than 1 1/3 innings in a game for the first time in 2025, conceding a single, walk and homer to open the bottom of the 8th inning.

DH Daz Cameron’s 106.7mph, 414-foot, 3-run blast with 1 out in the top of the 9th inning got Nashville within a run, but 2B Ray Delgado and OF Tyler Black followed with strikeouts swinging to end the contest:

Sounds’ Extras:

  • Down 8-4 after the RailRiders’ 9th inning homer, RHP Justin Yeager came in and retired both batters he faced. We can only wonder how many innings he might have thrown if the game went to extras.
  • For the second straight game, Delgado was successful in an Automatic Ball-Strike challenge in a key situation, this time negating a strikeout in the top of the 5th inning. He ultimately drew a walk to help key the team’s 3-run inning.
  • 1B Ernesto Martinez Jr. notched 2 hits and an RBI, while OF Jared Oliva had a hit, walk and stolen base (his 32nd swipe of 2025).

Next week’s outlook: Nashville (17-16 in the second half) returns home to battle Marlins’ affiliate Jacksonville (18-14) for 6 games, commencing on Tuesday.

Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Pensacola 8, Biloxi 4
Box Score and Game Log

Via the Shuckers’ website, game details: Murray Reaches Three Times, Shuckers Drop Series Finale to Blue Wahoos

As if a 5th straight defeat wasn’t painful enough, SS Cooper Pratt exited in the 1st inning, with @Spencer Michaelis explaining the concern in the Minor League Forum:

“Fouled a ball off his knee, stayed in and took the walk but could barely (actually) walk. Didn’t even go to first base after taking ball 4…hobbled to the dugout instead”

As to the rest of the game, which commenced with a 1-hour, 27-minute rain delay, RHP KC Hunt (3 IP, 5 R, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 Ks) was unable to build on his last 2 excellent starts, conceding homers in each of his 3 innings of work on Sunday.

Down 5-1 by that point, 3B/SS Ethan Murray and C Matt Wood responded with back-to-back hits to open the 4th inning, both scoring on groundouts to make it a 5-3 game.

Unfortunately, two 2-out hits off in the bottom of the 4th inning off of RHP Abdiel Mendoza enabled the Blue Wahoos to open up their largest lead at 8-3.

Three consecutive Shuckers’ hits and a wild pitch to open the 6th inning should have produced more than 1 run, but that’s all we got, as 1B Blake Burke was thrown out on the bases and 2 strikeouts stranded a baserunner at 3rd.

Shuckers’ Extras:

  • Kudos to LHP Brian Fitzpatrick for 2 innings of scoreless relief work and 2 Ks, lowering his season ERA in AA to 2.11.
  • The recently-promoted Burke had a 2-for-4 game and collected his first RBI at the AA level.
  • Given the ascension of Made and Pena to High-A Wisconsin and Pratt’s Sunday injury, don’t be surprised if long-time farm-hand Eduardo Garcia receives a deserved promotion from Wisconsin to Biloxi, assuming he makes a quick recovery from the Saturday foul ball off his foot.

Next week’s outlook: Biloxi (14-19 in the second half) stays on the road, heading over to face Cubs’ affiliate Knoxville (16-16) for 6 games.

Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes
Final: Lake County 2, Wisconsin 1 (in 10 innings)
Box Score and Game Log

Via the Timber Rattlers’ website, more game details: Lake County Survives Sunday in Wisconsin

Despite the tough defeat, Wisconsin’s media team has still put together video highlights of the extra inning game:

And don’t miss the 29-minute Mehring/Lobner post-game podcast, featuring rehabbing LHP Robert Gasser and Manager Victor Estevez.

Chris Mehring’s linked game report includes many nuggets, including the fact that this was Gasser’s final rehab start at Wisconsin and how Lake County blew a chance to extend their lead in the 8th inning when a trailing runner was thrown out at 3rd base before the lead runner could score.

Wisconsin had two of their own baserunners thrown out in the 2nd inning (OF Yhoswar Garcia attempting to extend a single) and 3rd inning (OF Kay-Lan Nicasia caught stealing), but respectable work by Gasser (2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 BB, 1 K – 16 pitches, 13 strikes) and RHP Ryan Birchard (2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 WP, 4 Ks) kept them in the game.

After some scary but effective work from RHP Patricio Aquino and LHP Anthony Flores (combined 4 IP, 1 R, 7 H, 1 BB, 2 HBP, 2 Ks), along with RHP Yerlin Rodriguez tossing one of his better innings of 2025 (K, K, groundout), rehabbing DH/OF Steward Berroa’s game-tying 8th inning double and Garcia’s 2-out 9th inning triple nearly sent 5,337 fans home happy.

Instead, Garcia was stranded (Nicasia strikeout). From there, two fly outs were sufficient for Lake County to plate their Manfred Man, while Wisconsin unfortunately stranded theirs.

Timber Rattlers’ Extras:

  • Instead of having Berroa take a 5th plate appearance, Manager Estevez called on Hedbert Perez for the final at-bat of the game, lining out to center field on a 2-2 pitch.
  • To his credit, Rodriguez has not allowed any earned runs over his last 9 1/3 IP, registering 14 strikeouts vs. 5 BB and 2 HBP.
  • Berroa’s just 3-for-24 in his rehab stint, but appears headed with Gasser to Nashville (per the podcast).

Next week’s outlook: The Timber Rattlers (11-25 in the second half) take their show on the road, down to Peoria, Illinois to play 6 games against the Cardinals’ affiliate (15-21).

Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes
Rain Out: Carolina at Augusta

Via the Mudcats’ website, rainout details: Mudcats Canceled Sunday

Carolina will have to carry their 4-game losing streak into next week, though they still hold a 1 ½ game lead over Fredericksburg in the second half standings. This game with Augusta will not be rescheduled.

Next week’s outlook: Carolina (20-13) comes home for a 6-game set against Guardians’ affiliate Lynchburg (13-21), with 18-year old RHP Tyler Renz (3.43 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 57 2/3 ACL/Low-A IP) the most likely starter for Tuesday’s series opener.

We hope that you enjoy the Minor League Link Report. On Monday, our Dominican Summer League clubs get the action started at 10:00am CST, with Blue (22-21) playing at Red Sox Red (22-21) and our Gold squad (20-23) hosting DSL Rojos (17-23). White Sox had 5 former Brewers pitchers on their 40-man roster, but after trading away Adrian Houser, they decide to double down and bump that up to 6: Tyler Alexander, Aaron Civale, Bryan Hudson, Elvis Peguero, Shane Smith and Gus Varland.

Pratt hurt now as well. Our minors are getting so slammed with injuries. Has there been any positive injury updates on guys like Luke Adams, I know Dinges and Fischer are in the Bridge league and close to return.

Exited that Pena and Made are moved up together. I am surprised Josh A didn't go with or before them but maybe the club is just giving a little bit more time back from the injury.

Per @ARobsBrewCrew in another thread yesterday: “Unfortunately, Adams’ shoulder hasn’t progressed as hoped since his collision back in June.  I spoke with him today and he is still unsure how long he will be out.  It seems as though his season might be in jeopardy.”

Brutal, thanks.
