Looks like 17-year-old RHP Fausto Barreras (signed June 12th) made his pro debut today for the blue team, pitching one inning, with one walk and nothing else.

Brewers have had pretty decent luck with pitchers out of Mexico in the past.

What a fantastic way to close the season for the DSL Brewers Gold. They throttle the DSL Orioles Black 13-3. Montilla stays red hot. And, my mini movement to get OF Kenny Fenelon's season BA above 0.200 works like a charm. I take absolutely zero credit but we had a great time rooting Him on. And, by 'we', I mean I did. Sighs. Onward!

Fenelon finishes his season with a 2-for-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 1 3B. 1 BB, 1 K line. 0.206 BA on the season with a 0.703 OPS. Heck of a way to finish! Lotta great scoreless bullpen outings as well in an end-of-season 'Get your Pitches Out!' buffet:

As others on our board fretted about "Adamczewski is blocked at every level..." or "Where will he play?!", I tried to remind you all on more than one occasion: there is not a player or a bat blocking Josh from anything. Up from Low-A and debuting with the Timber Rattlers smack dab right into the clean-up spot. With Hedbert promoted to Double-A, we see super-utility Luiyin Alastre filling in in right field. The CF Daniel Guilarte experiment continues. RHP Travis Smith will look to build on his High-A learnings to see if he can get an uptick in his K numbers. The results have been solid regardless:

Like Adamczewski above, OF Hedbert Perez is immediately in the Shuckers line-up upon promotion. He won't be batting clean-up but he will also be filling the DH role. Can 2B Eric Brown Jr. catch any amount of fire before the post-season? The top four in this line-up had a fantastic road series at Columbus. Here's hoping for more. 1B Blake Burke is feasting on Southern League pitching. Let's see if he can feast on some Southern Home cooking tonight! Which part of the roller coaster will we be on with RHP Alexander Cornielle tonight?

It's a Brewers 40-Man party for the Sounds tonight. We see Black and Berroa are back in the line-up after being sent back down. LHP Robert Gasser is back on the bump and reportedly is aiming for 4.0 IP tonight. Hoskins begins his rehab assignment while Bauers will continues his. I think the question we might all be asking, regardless, is: Can C Jeferson Quero continue his torrid work at the dish? We all lovingly recall his two massive nukes at Durham last week. Let's hope for more tonight!

We don't have the line up card as of yet but let's all take a minute to Honor the upcoming last regular season Carolina Mudcats home stand at the end of August. This we will be the final Mudcats games we will ever witness in Zebulon. Special 'Historic Pricing' awaits any and all:

Let's hope the young Muddies send the fans home with something to remember...

I plan to ride along for as long as he is here - as I wonder if he will be in another organization next season.

But the best part of that Shuckers line up is Cooper Pratt in his customary 2nd spot after leaving Saturday's game and missing Sunday's tilt.

We have our game one Mudcats line up card for their road tilt at Salem (Red Sox). It's kind of amazing, to me, with Peña; Made; and Adamczewski all in Wisconsin this line up card still looks packed with run-producing potential. We need to see Bitonti and Di Turi restoke their flames at the dish - both young men are extremely capable as we know. SS Brady Ebel is indeed debuting and will be batting third. Bitonti is playing 1B as per usual and batting in the clean-up spot. He'll be protected by DH Handelfry Encarnacion. RHP Melvin Hernandez will look to wow us yet again with his extremely impactful off-speed tools. The Muddies still cling to their first place position atop their division but Fredericksburg and Fayetteville are indeed nipping at their heels.

Ebel pokes a 2-2 single - workmanlike professional poke there - sits back on a belt high outside change-up and pokes a flare into shallow LF. Beautiful swing. Just as beautiful live as it is on tape. He is extremely well balanced in his approach - something I struggle with with Payne who has a lot of leaving the batters box in every swing.

Another run scores on a misplayed gather off an Anderson grounder up the middle. Handelfry inexplicably also rounded third base and was thrown out by 9 feet. What the heck was that?! Goodness, the youth on the base paths this season has been a sight. 2-0 and we head to the bottom of the 1st.

Handelfry ropes a doulbe down the RF line. 1-0 Mudcats. 2-2 pitch. Hanging change-up. Just over the leaping 1B.

Smashed that one. Was a change up, and this guy seems to have a good one (lots of bad swings at it).

Hernandez sees a cue shot dribbler fall for a hit as he hesitates. As Bitonti peels off to cover 1B. And as Di Turi was shaded 2B side. Miscommunication from Bitonti and Hernandez. My opinion: Bitonti has to get that ball and Hernandez has the easy cover. That was not a fast runner. It was a power bat. Sigh. It will be marked a hit. Man on 1B. One down.
