This was in July. He's healthy now.

The injury was in very late July and Jeferson Quero had a shoulder labrum tare.  He could be called up down the stretch because I am not a Danny Jansen fan either.  But there is much more to being a catcher than just being able to hit.

This is a little misleading because the reality was that he didn’t miss 3 to 4 weeks, he recovered very fast and was back in less than 2 weeks on August 7th and came out of the gates destroying the ball.

He’s been in the lineup for Nashville nearly every day since then, so I think this being the reason he hasn’t been called up is highly speculative at best.

None of us know specifically what was offered but the fact is they didn't do anything and they should have. Jansen isn't hindsight. There wasn't anyone here clamoring for Haase to be replaced. I for one was asking for him to take some snaps from Contreras when he was hurt. It's not like he's coming back so cut the loss now imo.

It's false to say they didn't do anything. You could say they didn't do enough in your eyes, which is fine. We all have our opinions, and this is a great venue to express them.

Shelby Miller was turning in quality work for Arizona (1.98 ERA). He was on the IL. People come back from the IL all the time & perform well. Unfortunately he was hurt again. IMO holding the FO up for scrutiny for not knowing he'd blow out his elbow is unfair. It's also important to point out he cost them nothing in prospect capital.

Lockridge was the type of guy you pick up at minimal cost when you have someone down for a few weeks, or a month. If you want them trading for a a guy like Bader when you know the hole in CF is temporary, I think you're living in a world where everyone is the Dodgers & Yankees and you can throw prospects---and money---around willy-nilly. And BTW, at the deadline Blake Perkins was hitting .281.

I'm not going to defend the work Jansen has turned in. Like you pointed out in an earlier post, not only the failed AB w/the 2nd & 3rd with one out but he had a horrible bunt attempt. Should've gone towards 3B. But I'm confident you won't find one GM anywhere that would take Haase over him, or wouldn't consider him an upgrade. Whether or not fans on a message board were clamoring for a change is irrelevant.

In Nashville, Haase is currently hitting .194.

DFA Jansen, call up Quero. Enough is enough. It didn’t work out. Cut your losses.

Jansen is not DFA-worthy.

Sure he hasn't been productive with us, but he also has barely played. It's hard to get in a rhythm that way. Contreras is one of the many many guys Murphy runs into the ground.

No, Brice Turang and Sal Frelick - the two hitters who lead the team in BA - did not need the day off two days after they had one.

bruh they just played 19 games in 18 days. Everyone is EXHAUSTED. A day off for them is not the end of the world.

What a dumb dumb trade Danny Jansen was

It wasn't dumb.

Jansen is the clear-cut better player over Haase.

Not being productive in a small sample size means nothing.

What exactly makes anyone think Yoho is a better option? Because every time I saw him pitch this year, he got shelled.

higher upside, success in the minor leagues

This is the second time recently he's had a day off & came back hitting the ball hard.

It's almost as if, with some guys, getting a day off is a good thing.

seriously. This is what i've been preaching for ages.

I don't think he's particularly good either side of the plate lol.

vs RHP as L
Career: .214/.304/.316, 77 wRC+, 30.3% K rate, .102 ISO
2025: .175/.241/.275, 45 wRC+, 29.9% K rate, .100 ISO

vs LHP as R
Career: .254/.323/.373, 96 wRC+, 18.5% K rate, .118 ISO
2025: .278/.350/.500, 137 wRC+, 25% K rate, .222 ISO

He's also faced RHP as a RHB 4 times and is 2 for 4 in those PAs with a BB

EDIT - Those numbers were before yesterday's game

Considering all we have is the small sample size as we didn't trade for him for the future, it absolutely means something. Danny Jansen hasn't hit since Toronto.

that's interesting. just using the ol' eye test, he just seems useless regardless of lefty or righty

That doesn't mean he's not better than Eric Haase.

The based loaded walk I saw a highlight of was clearly a ball.

Ball 4 was a ball. Not ball 1 or 3....and the Sanchez walk earlier in the inning 2 of the 4 called balls were strikes.

Until he's closer to 100%. How do I know he isn't? Because he isn't in CF, and I'm pretty sure they aren't trying to throw games by not putting him there. I think it might be a case of him trusting himself more than anything.

He missed a month. Outside of 1B, LF is the least challenging spot on the diamond. They're being cautious.

So, the next day ;)
