With the Phillies loss the Brewers essentially got to punt on this one, rest all of our arms for a night, and not lose any ground.  I don’t follow the minors closely at all, but I have no clue who Zimmerman is.  At least ate up some innings.

Siegler has an ERA of 0.00. I put that out there for information purposes only.

I think both the Brewers and Phillies are probably just trying to get through 162 and let the chips fall where they may.

Not that it was ever that important to me, but the loss tonight will take the 100 win season off the table.

They need the remaining pieces of their rotation to stay healthy. They need a few guys on offense to get hot and start swinging the bat better. They really need an effective bullpen.

I think those are the things that will matter, not so much what they did this month.

Agree 100%. There are examples that can support doom & gloom. And examples of this having nothing to do with how they perform in ten or twelve days. This is a great day for the former because they haven't looked this dead at the plate in a long time.

To the above list I'd add getting back to the pain-in-the-ass ABs----going deep in the count, fouling off tough pitches, finding ways to once again draw walks. They drew eight yesterday, but I think you throw that game out since balls & strikes were called as if the HP umpire was on drugs.

That pretty much locks down the 1 seed. An awful lot of panic over both the division and the 1 and neither really ever came that close to slipping away.

If we do end up playing Philly I am very glad we get to open at home.

Not Brewer related, but the Tigers have blown EIGHT games in the division in their last TEN overall. The Guardians officially took over the lead tonight.

I wonder how many of their fans assured one another that the division was over 2 weeks ago.

That AB sucked. The last one I thought was a step in the right direction so I was disappointed to see him follow it up with this. You’re right, he has to get it going.

I’m really glad it was all much ado over nothing.

It does happen, though. Just this season, Tiger fans and Met fans have seen it happen to their teams in real time.

In Websters', next to the phrase 'trying to do too much' there's a picture of Jackson Chourio. Looks totally lost. I'm sure he's known since age ten that standing there with the bat on your shoulder is uncompetitive. He needs to figure out that chasing is just as bad, and if diagnosed by your opponent can be even worse.

Not to make excuses for them, but there has to be some mental let down as you have less and less to play these games for.  It’s a grueling season, you’re nearing the end, and motivating factors are low.  These games can’t be easy to get up for and focus through.  They’re professionals, but also humans.  Hopefully they can flip that switch once playoff baseball gets here and the adrenaline starts flowing again.

The lack of information from the manager on stuff like this is incredible to me. Imagine Aaron Boone in NY changing the order and hitting Judge leadoff. He would have to have a press conference just for this.

Well, Ohtani leads off, so........😛.

I'm sure there's something behind it, I'd just like to know what. Your RBI leader is leading off, and the guy who I thought was looking comfortable in the LO spot is hitting 5th. And it has nothing to do with splitting up LHH because you were able to do that either way. Odd.

Guessing we won’t see Chourio (0-for-last-18) or Contreras (caught 2 straight days) in the Wednesday starting lineup against Cease.

And Patrick will start on short rest, so will probably be limited to 3 innings.

Yelich, Frelick, Perkins, Collins, Turang, Bauers, Jansen plus 2.

Patrick and Carlos Rodriguez (if recalled) cover 8 innings.

Brewers will win anyway, cause we rock.

maybe i'm misremembering, but I feel like that offense sucked the entire year.

this O was thrilling to watch for like 3 months.  have to have faith they can find it again. the tools are still there

In 2021 many of the posts about the offense started with “since the Adames trade”.

  • The offense started out bad, but when Adames joined the team and had the greatest 3 months of his career, the offense was much better. But, in September, after building up a huge lead in the division, Adames and the offense went flat and four days off between the final game and the first playoff game didn’t change things.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Not sure where you saw “an awful lot of panic”.

Especially about the 1 seed which a number of people seem to be relatively indifferent about.

Your use of the word “panic” doesn’t seem to square up with the dictionary definition.

But, at least you hedge your bet by saying the one seed is “pretty much” locked up.

Uh, the 1 seed was met with a lot of indifference. If you think there wasn't panic about the division, you weren't here much.

"Hedged my bet"? What are you even babbling about? I'd put a grand on the Brewers being the 1 seed. Edit: NVM I get it. You were one of the guys freaking out about the end of the world so you're just salty about being wrong. Got it.

Can you imagine if the cubs didn’t get swept in four games last weekend.    I don’t know if anyone could have predicted that.   We could have easily been still sweating a bunch of games this week.   Thank god the cubs decided to end the race.   And rather quickly.

Ha Ha.

I am here frequently, and I don't consider simply recognizing that a race isn't over as "panic" or "freaking out about the end of the world". Apparently your standards are different.

Maybe you can show an example of one of my posts that indicates panic.

Did you put a grand on the Brewers getting the number 1 seed, or is that just more hyperbolic bluster?

The fact that it does happen, and more frequently than a lot of people seem to realize, is why some people take an "it isn't over until it's over" approach.

Calling that "panic" or "freaking out about the end of the world" seems more than a little overdramatic.

I haven't seen a place that lets you put wagers on seeds. If some place actually let you do that today, since your thesis is that I'm hedging a bet on something I said today, I would. I don't think there's a book in the world that would take that bet, but you can keep on being a douche about it.
