2026 Wilson Warbirds Season Thread

I would like to be the one that keeps up with all things Warbirds for you all this upcoming summer for the 1st season! A little about me before we get started.... I reside in NC within an hour of Wilson's new stadium and attended plenty of Mudcats games when they were in Zebulon. I've been a Brewers fan for a decent while now and love them! 

Now let's get into Wilson.....

Opening Day is set for April 3rd, 2026 @ Fayetteville with the first ever home game April 14th vs Lynchburg. You will be able to watch all games on MiLB.TV and listen to all 66 home games from WiSe/ Wilson Sports and Entertainment Park with the Voice of the Warbirds Chris Edwards on wilsonwarbirds.com/listenlive, I believe they are in the process of trying to lock a radio station deal but not sure the update on that.

Is the new ballpark completely done or do they have a little bit left to go?  Would love to make the trek down to North Carolina to watch a game this summer!

Last we saw they had made very solid progress - but, no, it doesn't look like they are done. Spencer did in fact touch on this at the beginning of our Mudcats pod, fwiw, if you want a photo or two to see for yourself.

Was trying to think of what the roster could possibly look like.

Wildcards would be CJ Hughes or Rylan Mills.

Mills is old for the class and has earned some comments that he is far ahead of where we thought. Would not be surprised to see him and Garcia sharing some C/DH time.

Daniel Dickinson a college bat, hasn’t made his debut yet. Could see him starting in A, and then making room for Hughes after some time in the complex.

These all seem pretty locked down:

C - Kevin Garcia

1B -

2B - Juan Ortuno

SS - Brady Ebel

3B -

LF -

CF - Handelfrey

RF - Jose Anderson

Past that, it seems pretty hard to place.

We do have to remember that last years team was maybe historically young. Could see a lot of repeats even if they are disappointing ones (Payne, Bitonti, DiTuri, etc).

Doesn’t mean their seasons were failures, just that we draft very young projects and they are going to take time. Payne for example would have been younger than about 8 first rounders from this past draft, and Bitonti is only 6 months older than Seth Hernandez who got the biggest bonus.

Like Joseph said, It coming along very quickly. I think they need to get the video boards and such in but it should be done by April. If your trying to come down to watch, keep in mind Raleigh-Durham International Airport is the nearest one and is about an hour away from the stadium site. Would love to see a group of Brewer Fanatic's come down here

agree with your start. I think Frederi MOntero will likely be in low A, and Jadyn Fielder will be there too maybe Corobo too? And some repeaters in Lameda and Ibarguen (they are still with the club right??)

It's early days, obviously, but I'm assuming that Dickinson will mainly man 2nd base. Filippo Di Turi's miserable 2nd half in 2025 may see him back in Wilson at 3rd base in 2026.

The first base job appears open, with no obvious preferred player to fill it. Juan Ortuno (5'8") last played there in 2024, Tyler Rodriguez (5'10") in 2023. Jadyn Fielder (6'1") has never played the position.

90 days till home opener for Wilson

I started looking in to making a few trips to see Wilson on the road this season today. The days I'm looking at are April 3rd in Fayetteville, NC vs the Woodpeckers for the first ever game for them, along with either May 26 or 27th in Myrtle Beach, SC vs the Pelicans.

It's going to be a Home2 Suites by Hilton. I would be curious if the away teams will stay there though. The home dugout will be on the 1st base so it makes since.

Wilson will have a 2 man Broadcast crew this first season. They have a Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant Intern job open.

Just snagged my Opening Day tickets, can't wait! If anyone is interested in getting them, go through the warbirds site but beware, many games during the first week are close to be sold out. I was lucky enough to snag 4 behind the Warbirds dugout on the aisle. They won't last another month and a half for Opening Day.
