Good read here for Marquette fans.

About freaking time.  It took Shaka far longer to realize this than I thought it would take.  I am assuming the boosters at Marquette told him to do it or find another job.

I don't follow Marquette much, but this is surprising.  It would be like having Ted Thompson in draft only mode, but you only are ensured to have your draft picks for 1 year.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Not really. For the most part, Marquette didn't really deal with transfers under Smart so there was continuity within the program. The issue this past season is that Marquette lost a bunch of players to graduation and wasn't able to replicate their production from within.

Maybe they didn't have the turn-over, but you had the potential every year.  Everyone is a 1 year Free Agent. If you can bring back your team, more power to you.

thats true and its what makes college sports in general hard to watch. I can deal with good players being one and done. But when every player on the team can leave whenever they want and join a new team every year, its hard to have any kind of bond to your teams.
