Not the same hitter.

Vaughn has the capability to hit one out of the park, or for doubles power.  Frelick has the ability to pop out weakly while going down on a knee, or ground out.  When he comes to the plate, we hope and pray he sprays something into the OF for a base hit.  When Vaughn comes to the plate, there is opportunity for game changing power.

Not the same hitter, not at all.

How you feeling now?

Also, have you seen Vaughn’s slugging % against RHP? Almost identical to Frelick’s.  Effectively the same hitter against RHP right now indeed.

Family around for Father’s Day activities today so I will not be watching the game

Maybe checking the score once in a while and hoping for a surprise in the form of Gasser keeping them in the game and/or the offense breaking the three run barrier.

HFD! Our family gathered on Friday night to celebrate. My older son grilled steaks for all of us. It was an awesome night … except I missed watching Miz pitch against the Braves.

I feel the same.

Vaughn gives us a chance at power every plate appearance, Sal does not.

Rip on Sal, and he produces.  lol

In that case, he sucks, is total trash and should have been in Nashville by the end of April

Against lefties you’d be right.

Against righties? Nope. Which has been the point the whole time.

So, bases loaded, down by 3 runs, bottom of the 9th, right handed pitcher...

Who are you sending to the plate, Vaughn or Frelick?

Okay, but you are arguing that one player is just as good of a hitter from his platoon dominant side, as another hitter is from his non-platoon dominant side.

That is not a super strong argument for Frelick as a player overall. It’s just saying that there isn’t a big difference when Vaughn comes to the plate with a bad R/R matchup than when Frelick comes up with the platoon advantage.
