The Milwaukee Brewers selected Kyle Jones at pick No. 102 in the 2026 MLB Draft. Jones is a right-handed-hitting outfielder from the University of Florida. The slot value for the 102nd pick is $770,600. Jones was ranked No. 111 overall on our MLB Draft Consensus Board. In 2026, Jones slashed .317/.417/.478 with six home runs, 46 RBI, and 17 stolen bases.

Here's what Jamie Cameron, curator of our MLB Draft Consensus Board, said about Jones:

"Jones had one of the better collegiate seasons in the country in 2024 for Stetson, before transferring to Florida ahead of his sophomore campaign. Unfortunately, hamstring and shoulder injuries slowed him down, and he missed most of the season. Back in the Gators lineup with consistency in 2026, he's been a steady late riser on industry boards. Offensively, there's a solid all-around profile here. Jones has good bat-to-ball skill, backed by a good approach and solid swing decisions during his plate appearances. While it's been more doubles and gap power than over-the-fence power, Jones has some projection in a frame that's listed at 6'3, 180 pounds. Jones has strong supplementary tools, too. He's an above-average to plus runner who takes solid routes in the outfield that should allow him a shot to stick in center as a pro. He ended 2026 with a .317/.418/.478 line with 6 home runs (23 XBH), a 12% walk rate, a 16.4% strikeout rate (105 wRC+), and 17 steals in 21 attempts."

Milwaukee went with our No. 70 prospect in the first round, then our No. 19 prospect at in round two, making Jones the Brewers’ first choice that has gone approximately where he was projected. His base-running ability and defensive prowess give him a solid floor from which to build.

Jones and Sawyer Strosnider (No. 66 overall pick, TCU) are the first collegiate outfielders Milwaukee has taken this early in a draft since Sal Frelick (Boston College) in 2021.

Kyle Jones smells like a bit of a buy-low play as a guy who had helium a couple years ago but dealt with some injuries. A solid offseason at the complex and it wouldn’t shock me if Jones makes a lot of noise in the system.

I’m wondering if Strosnider and Jones aren’t ticketed for Appleton once signed. Those would be some interesting new ingredients to bolster that lineup and defense.

Strosnider for sure should be able to go directly to Appleton and play RF. If Jones also goes to Hi-A, he and Payne will probably each split time in CF and LF. Even after the promotions of Adamczewski and Ragsdale, they would still have an amazing trio in the outfield.

Jones is the first collegiate outfielder Milwaukee has taken in the first three rounds of an MLB Draft since Garrett Mitchell (UCLA) in 2020.

Strosider literally one round earlier

I could see at least one of them taking Encarnacion’s place in Wilson if he gets promoted. The K rates on Antunez and Fenelon are such they might want to keep them in the bridge league.

Hello, everyone!

I wanted to comment today and apologize for the errors regarding the recent collegiate outfielders the team has drafted. A series of unfortunate events led to me being on a phone call for my main job as this pick was announced. Once that wrapped up, I wound up overlooking the 2021 draft class, and just flat-out forgot that Strosnider was picked, in my haste to put a bow/conclusion on things. That paragraph has since been updated with accurate information.

I hold myself to a high standard. I believe the work I've produced for my other publications -- including fellow Diamond Centric sites -- reflects that standard. I missed the mark on this article; I won't miss it on any future pieces.

Thank you all for reading/engaging with Diamond Centric!

That can happen to anyone, Braden.
