Yeah I mean it sucks but the process was fine. You have to take a pitch to start that AB. The pitch he swung at was fine. Just didn’t hit it to a hole.

Joey is OPSing like 1.000 the last month. He’s literally been the hottest hitter on the team. This board is up in arms every time Hamilton gets a start over him. And now we’re upset that he got a shot with the bases loaded and the game on the line?

The fact this team is 7-7 this month is a testament to how good the pitching has been. If our pitching wasn’t doing well the team would probably be like 3-11 the way the offense has been swinging the bat. 14 games and 46 runs. 3.3 runs per game and have only scored more than 4 runs three times all month

1) he was not safe by “6 feet”

2) even if it wasn’t a bang bang play, it’s still terrible process and risk in that situation.

I don’t see the correlation between these two things. I don’t think anyone you call up would have pinch hit for Ortiz there. So there’s no added value in the situation if you have Turang on the IL. Assuming Turang is back before an IL stint would have him back, there’s nobody you’re calling up that plays over the current lineup.

1. Yes he was. His entire body crossed the base by the time they put the tag down, with his foot on the bag. It was not even remotely close. 
2. You’re not factoring in that Edwin Diaz is one of the very worst pitchers in the league at holding runners. Feduccia is also well below average at throwing out runners. It’s a risk, but not terrible process or in any way egregious.

He is never even getting back north of .700 this season.

1. I’d have to go back and watch again because maybe I didn’t see it accurately in real time, but even if that’s the case, unless you can advance on complete defensive indifference where you’re not even being held on, I hate the call. You always still run the risk of oversliding the bag even if the play isn’t close. 

2. If you make an out on the bases with the tying run at the plate down 3-1 in the 9th, and then Yelich or Contreras puts one in the seats and makes it 3-2 and that’s the score you lose by, it’s going to be one of the most criticized and second guessed decisions of the entire season.

They say it doesn't hurt him hitting so in a tight game he's gotta get an ab against a righty imo. That was a good spot to give him a shot. Turang or Joey against a righty. Give me Turang. If he can't do it then why play a man down

If he can't play the field then they probably shouldn't have run for Vaughn. If the choice is run for Vaughn or hit for Ortiz I'm gonna hit for Ortiz in that spot.

No one was calling for Joey to sit for Turang when he came up. Only after he grounded out. And no one would have said a thing about it if he came through.

I am often critical of Murphy and I really don’t have a problem with him giving his hottest hitter a shot with the game on the line. I really wouldn’t have had a huge stink if Turang bats there either but if the tiebreaker was figuring out how they were going to field 9 in the event of tying or taking the league I don’t have a problem with the decision.

Yeah, and Ben Sheets was terrible in 2004 because he had some games where he gave up three or more runs.  I remember a certain radio personality on AM 1250 named Steve Fifer who said that Ben Sheets should have done more.

Gasser pitched well enough YESTERDAY to win against the defending World Champions.  Has he been good overall this year?  No.  Good Lord, if the Miz gives up three runs today, he sucks for sure.
