So that means that Wilson, who’ve lost 8 in a row, need to split their last 4 games (2-2) to hold onto a winning record this season or go 1-3 to finish .500.

AA Biloxi have won back-to-back 1-run home games over Birmingham and send 21-year old RHP Bishop Letson (5 IP, 1 R, 5 Ks last week) to the hill tonight. 1B Andrew Fischer is 9-for-23 with 5 HR and 12 RBIs over his last 7 games.

20-year old RHP Luke Roupe (9.55 ERA, 2.18 WHIP. 7.1 K/9 in 33 IP) gets the start for Low-A Wilson, who’ve dropped 8 consecutive games. CF Kyle Jones’ hitting streak is now 10 games.

INF Trey Ebel (2nd game) and OF Handelfry Encarnacion (5th game) are out of the lineup again.

AAA Nashville are coming off two straight 1-run home victories over Louisville and give RHP Carlos Rodriguez (7.92 ERA in 44.1 IP) a surprise start tonight (Brandon Sproat was expected). C Andrick Nava gets his first game action since August 1.

The High-A Timber Rattlers look to grab a 3-0 series lead at Beloit behind RHP Chandler Welch (also a surprise starter, as Jayden Dubanewicz was expected). CF Sawyer Strosnider has a 13-game on-base streak.

Chandler Welch just reached 71 pitches in the bottom of the 3rd inning, his highest pitch count of 2026. Gotta pull him, trailing 2-0 with runners on the corners and 2 outs.

I know the ball or whatever is juiced, and HRs are inflated. But 44 HRs is ridiculous. It easily has to be “corrected “ to 30+.

This season has seen a lot of hitters develop well. Way more from Dickinson, Antunez and now Mills than I was ever expecting.

A few pitchers, but not enough, but I do like the international arms in Mercedes and Torres.

Rylan Mills is doing a nice impersonation of a young Johnny Bench at the plate. I haven't seen much of his work defensively but understand it's been a struggle (a 19-yr-old catcher in full-season ball; it would be quite the surprise if there WEREN'T issues back there). Anyone out there who's seen him behind the plate more than I have, I'd love a scouting report. Thx in advance.

Akil Baddoo Hits Go-Ahead Homer as Sounds Win Third Straight

All Nine Starters Record a Hit for Nashville

 

NASHVILLE – The Sounds earned their third straight one-run win, beating the Louisville Bats 7-6 on Thursday night at First Horizon Park. All nine Nashville starters recorded at least one hit. Brock Wilken and Andrick Nava turned in multi-hit games while Akil Baddoo produced 3-RBI, hitting the go-ahead home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. 

 

Louisville opened the scoring with a three-run home run in the top of the second off Sounds' starter Carlos Rodriguez. Nashville responded in the bottom half of the inning with a two-out, two-RBI single for Brandon Lockridge after Nava kept the rally alive with a single to load the bases and his first hit of the night. The Bats held a 3-2 lead into the top of the fifth. Brandon Sproat worked two scoreless innings (2 H, 2 K, 2 BB) in relief of Rodriguez (2.0 IP, 2 H, HR, 3 ER, 3 K, 2 BB). 

 

Right-hander Kaleb Bowman took over on the mound for the Sounds in the top of the fifth and issued a leadoff walk ahead of a passed ball that put a runner into scoring position. A single for Will Benson put runners on the corners before a productive groundout put the Bats ahead by a pair of runs. Nashville's deficit grew to four just two batters later when Orlando Arcia hit a two-run home run to make it 6-2.

 

Nashville answered in the bottom of the sixth with another two-out rally. Tyler Black started it with a single before Ethan Murray won a 12-pitch battle against Kent Emanuel with a RBI bloop single into shallow left field. Nava added his second hit of the night and scored Murray to cut the Bats' lead to 6-4. Blake Holub pitched around a one-out double in the top of the seventh for Nashville to send the offense back to work.

Wilken began the inning with a single and was followed aboard by Blake Burke who drew a walk and sent Baddoo to the plate. He didn't miss the 2-0 fastball offering from Zach McCambley and sent it over the left-center field wall to give Nashville its first lead of the night. 

 

Jared Koenig (1.0 IP) and Cameron Wagoner (1.0 IP) slammed the door on the Bats with a pair of scoreless frames in the eighth and ninth. Wagoner surrendered a two-out single to Benson and he swiped second to put the tying run in scoring position. Wagoner responded with a five-pitch strikeout of Noelvi Marte to strand the runner at second and a secure third straight win and Triple-A best 43rd win at home for the Sounds. 

 

The second-to-last homestand of the season heads to the weekend portion of the series with Brewers no. 7-rated prospect Tyson Hardin (4-4, 4.86 ERA) slated to get the start for Nashville on Friday night. First pitch from First Horizon Park is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

 

POSTGAME NOTES: 

 

BID YOU BADDOO: Akil Baddoo crushed his 11th homer of the season on a three-run blast to left center field and gave the Sounds a 7-6 go-ahead lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. It was his third home run in his last eight games since the start of the Jacksonville series last week. Six of Baddoo's 11 home runs this season have been go-ahead home runs, second-most on the club behind Brock Wilken (8). The 11 home runs on the season are the third-most on the team behind Brock Wilken and Jeferson Quero with 15 each. Baddoo is four homers away from tying his Triple-A career-high (15), a mark he sent last season with the Toledo Mud Hens. 

 

TRIPLE AYEEE: Blake Burke went 1-for-3 on the night with his first triple at the Triple-A level and a walk in Thursday's game. It was the fifth career three-bagger for the Brewers no. 12-rated prospect who has a career-high three triples this season after hitting a pair for Double-A Biloxi. It was his first triple since June 4 in game one of the doubleheader against Montgomery. The Sounds lead the International League and rank T-4th in Triple-A with their 37 triples this year and are tied for the fourth-most in a single-season since 2005. The 2018 Sounds hit 47 in 2018.

 

DON'T LOCK HIM UP: Brandon Lockridge posted a 1-for-4 night, adding two RBI and a walk. Lockridge has posted seven RBI in his last four games, highlighted by his career day against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on August 28 when he went 3-for-5, added two doubles and recorded a career-high five RBI. In 14 games with Nashville, he has put up a .236 batting average (13-for-55), added three XBH, 11 RBI and eight runs. It marked his second multi-RBI game of the season for the Sounds and 66th regular season game with a multi-RBI since the start of his professional career in 2018. 

 

WILKEY WAY: Brock Wilken tallied his third hit of the week in three games and added his 23rd double of the season Thursday, going 2-for-5 on the night. He hit his first double since he recorded a two-bagger in three straight games on August 20-23 at Norfolk. The 24-year-old ranks sixth in RBI (74) and eighth in doubles (23) among full-season minor league hitters in the Brewers' farm system. Thursday was his 13th multi-hit game of the season for the Sounds and ranks tied for third behind Jeferson Quero (23) and Tyler Black (14) among active players on the roster. 

 

ONE IS PLENTY: All nine Sounds batters recorded a hit in Thursday's 7-6 come-from-behind win against the Bats. It was the fourth time this season that all Nashville hitters in the starting lineup recorded at least one base knock. The Sounds improved to 19-18 on the season in one-run games and was the third time they have won at least three one-run games in a single-series this year (May 12-17 vs. Iowa, May 26-31 vs. Gwinnett). The Sounds have played four straight one-run games since the series finale in Jacksonville last Sunday. Thursday marked the first time Nashville has won three straight one-run games since May 21-23, 2021 against Gwinnett (3-2, 2-1, 1-0) as part of a 15-game winning streak.
