Trade: Contreras to Yankees for Lagrange and Dietz

Sign: Morejon for 5 years and 100 million

Sign: Tyler Stephenson, 3 years and 24 mil

Sign: Gary Sanchez, 1 year and 6 mil

Sign: John Schreiber, 2 years and 8 mil

Offer Bauers the QO (he will turn it down)

Morejon is open to starting and I would be interested in letting him try it out. I also like Rogers but Morejon has better stuff.

I like Stephenson as a sneaky good signing. His away numbers the last two years are actually a lot better which should be surprising to most. A three year contract would give some stability to the position but isn't too expensive that he couldn't be a high level backup.

Take the savings from payroll and extend Made. Also, make sure to take care of your scouts and front office staff.

I would also look to trade Ortiz but could not find a good fit. (Made up midseason)

  • C: Tyler Stephenson ($8.00M)

$100mil for Morejon and you are starting him. You’ve completely lost me.
I actually don’t get why he is being projected to be paid more if the team signing wants to convert him to a starter. His value is what his value is. This isn’t arbitration.

This team has a clear need for another #2/#3 starter, preferably a veteran. Gasser isn't it and who knows what Priester will look like this year.

You're giving Contreras away for a couple of minor lg. pitchers. Dietz hasn't even started his career yet and the Yankees moved Lagrange from a starter to a reliever. No thanks. I'd keep Contreras and look to extend him. With the proposed salary cap floor going to $180M, the Brewers will have the money. William is far too important to Milwaukee to dump him for such a questionable return. You are keeping Anderson, Schreiber, Patrick, Drohan, Priester, Harrison over Gasser? That's nuts. Gasser was the Crew's #3 pitcher in the playoffs and shined. He's definitely the #3/4 in the rotation in 2027. I don't see Schreiber bringing anything to Milwaukee that they don't already have. I'd keep Romero and pass on Schreiber. Paying $100M to experiment with Morejon isn't something the Brewers would do.

Extend Contreras; 4 for $76M or something like that.

Use Ortiz and some of the minor lg. talent to trade for a controllable 3B. Keep Hamilton as the reserve Inf. Made replaces Turang in 2028 when Turang (getting expensive) with two years of team control is traded for a huge return.

I think it's questionable if Bauers refuses the QO. I hade doubts the Brewers would offer it to him, but we'll see what other teams think his value is. I think if he some team offers him a 3 or 4 year contract in the mid teens, he leaves.

I believe Milwaukee will look for a mid rotation starter in a trade. After Skubal there isn't anybody in FA worth top dollar to aquire.

Rotation:  Miz ($1M) - Henderson ($1M) - Gasser ($1M) - trade (est. $10M) - Harrison ($1M)

Pen: Megil ($8M) - Uribe ($1M) - Ashby ($8M) - Hall ($1M) - Romero ($5M) - Drohan ($1M) - Patrick ($1M) - Priester ($1M)

C:  Contreras ($19M) - Sanchez ($1.5M)/Naylor ($1M) ........ 1B: Vaughn ($8M)....... 2B: Turang ($9.8M)...... SS: Pratt ($3.5M)........ 3B: trade (est. $3.5M)....... Utility: Hamilton ($2.3M) - Adams ($900K)....... DH: Yelich ($26M)........ OF: Churio ($8M) - Mitchell ($ 3.2M) - Frelick ($1.5M) - Lara ($2M)

A little over $129M plus the dead money.   All below the proposed 2028 cap floor of $180M.

Morejon couldn't even throw 4 innings in the postseason without getting shut down with arm fatigue. And he had 2 days of rest in there! He thinks he could start????

We traded two good minor leaguers for Dustin May. I would like to avoid that again this year

Contreras isn't going to accept that contract, not even close. Romero isn't going to accept 5 million. So as long as we sign guys to contracts they won't accept, we're golden!

Saying to trade for someone and then not name them defeats the whole purpose of this.

Contreras will not be cheap and only has one year of control left. Guys like that don't bring in monster returns anymore. Getting the 2nd and 3rd ranked prospects from the Yankees isn't a bad return especially with you underrating Lagrange.

Gasser isn't guaranteed a spot in our rotation. If you want to go off of his playoff small sample, his FIP was much higher than his era.

If Romero would cost the same as Schrieber using the rules of this (I'm sure you didn't read them), I would consider him.
