If the brewers would have needed permission from the Sox, I would be shocked if they would not have given it to them since Neal Cotts has moved from the bigs down to Birmingham in late August.

From Today's Daily Dish at BA:

Three months ago Double-A Huntsville righthander Jason Shelley was pitching for the Rockford Rivercats in the independent Frontier League. He quickly emerged as a prospect with an 89-92 mph fastball and nasty splitter, and will try to give Double-A Huntsville a 2-1 series lead over Birmingham in the Southern League playoffs tonight. Shelley went 7-1, 0.85 for Rockford before attracting the attention of Brewers' scouts. A former college shortstop, he was 3-2, 2.63 with 53 strikeouts in 55 innings for Huntsville.

Adams walked the first two batters in the 9th, Gabe Alvarez and Scott Bikowski, but Carlos Maldonado hit his first pitch right at J.J. Hardy, who turned a 6-5-4 double play.

That should be 6-4-3 of course. That dang 5 got in the way while typing.
