9/23/05 STL (Carpenter) vs MILW (Capuano), 7:05 pm

To say this is the start of a very important series is a huge understatement.

Chris Carpenter comes in as (probably) the front-runner for the NL Cy Young Award. Carpenter carries a 21-4 record and a stellar 2.42 ERA.

Chris Capuano comes in with a shot at a 20-win season. He currently carries a 17-10 record with a solid 3.64 ERA.

Can the Brewers start the series on the right foot? Can they ultimately take 2-of-3 (or better) vs the Cardinals and put themselves in good position for their run at a .500 record.

The Cardinals come in with the best record in the league at 96-58, while the Brewers are 75-77.

The game is televised on FSN.

It's a tall task, but I think they need to take 2/3 from the Cards if they want a realistic shot at .500. Time for Cappy to get it done tonight; bounce back from your shaky outting last time!

I'll be at the game tonight with brewermary15. We got tickets for DB 120 Row 2 seats 7 & 8. Stop by and say hello.

I've never sat in such nice seats and I'm looking forward to it.

Considering their AAA ballclub pounded us the last time they were here, I'm just hoping they don't sweep us. But then again, they have nothing to play for and La Russa seems to like Yost. Maybe La Russa feels bad for his friend and "lets" us take two games.

Hey, now, knowing that he's wearing a Jenkins jersey sets him apart from all the Hardy/Weeks/Fielder shirts. Give Mark a break! Look at all he's been through lately!

I wouldn't completely object to this notion, but it doesn't sound like La Russa to me.

C'mon Brewers.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

I'll be there with a neighbor's kid in tow. Look for a guy wearing a Nashville Sounds cap (circa 1985) out in the LF loge bleachers.

Whew, I bet that's a stinky hat. No need to look, just follow your nose!

Oh. Never mind.

We made it all of two pitches and we have started the Eckstein love-fest.

And walking the leadoff man is probably a bad forcast about how Capuano's outing is going to go....

I see that it is another one of those Directv debacles where they aren't showing it again.

The game is even on my DTV schedule channel 741 but no game! GRRRRR! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif

At least I can listen to Uecker and Powell over the internet.

Darn it Jenks! Hit the freaking cutoff man for once in your life.

He's doing it all the time this year, and it's really getting annoying.

Just great that Capuano has looked like the pitcher that was wild and inconsistent at the start of the year during his last two starts... you have to wonder if he's fading under a workload that far surpasses anything he's done before.
