The Crew got a little slight from ESPN last night. Not sure what show was on (I was in a bar). The crawl on the bottom had this for the NL Wild Card race: "... 1. Philly 0 GB, 2. Houston 1/2 GB, 3. Florida 1 GB, 4. Washington 1 1/2 GB, 5. NY Mets 2 GB, 7. Chicago 5.5 GB. . . "

I guess if you're anything but 5GB (or Milwaukee) you're not in the WC race.

Not I have even more reason to hate *&^*%@ ESPN

btw, Andy Pettite looks a little vampirish too.

Pettite has been very very good this year. It is going to be a tough test. I have a feeling that good ole Santos is going to have trouble so if i am Ned i have the phone ready to pull Santos after the third..

But lets think positive and take 3 of 4 from the astros and put our selfs in great postion to not only make a run at the wild card but also at above .500 season! GO CREW!

Moof: Unbelieveable about the ESPN crawl line. It's sort of laughable. That may be more of an indication of the weight the Cubs hold. They just couldn't be left off. And we could.

Today is a big game. We have the opportunity to take 3 of 4 from Houston and post wins over Clemens and Pettite. This would be a very big win in my opinion instead of splitting the series. We have a young lineup where winning could be very contageous. Like it or not we ARE in striking distance, not likely, but not too far gone. We have the fish after today. I'd really like to see a W today. Big Game.

On June 14th Pettitte had an ERA of 3.76. He went on a complete tear and dropped that ERA to 2.58 over his next 9 starts. In his last 3 starts he's back to a 3.27 ERA. He is more beatable than his stats suggest, Pettitte is probably a 3.40-3.50 ERA guy who just had one incredibly hot streak considering his past numbers in his career in the AL.

Of course he's also a lefty and we generally don't do too well against those so good luck!

Why in the world is McGriddle batting 2nd??

Yost said the other day that Magruder sees alot of pitches, helps get us to their bullpen.

I would think that getting on base may raise a pitchers pitch count. Mags is sporting a sub .280 OBP. Ick.

Would rather see them give Hart more at bats. (Scratching my head)

I would rather see Hall in center than Magruder. I guess Ned wants to give him a shot to strike out 4 times today. Not scratching my head. BANGING it against my desk.

What possible reason would there be to bench Hart and play Mcgruder today? That is a checkmark against Ned already today. I hope Chris does something but I like Corey's chances against the lefty better.

Magruder sees 3.74 P/PA, which is actually more than Clark's 3.51. I'm not saying he should start, though, considering it'd be nice if he could actually hit one of those pitches.

My guess is that Yost thinks Corey would have trouble with Pettitte's cutter. But who's to say Magruder wouldn't?

Mags vs. LHP

.281/.303/.375/.678

His "good" side.

I'm not saying we are in the race cuz thats been debated and we don't need to start that on a game thread, but when was the last time we were in the wild card race this late in the season? Because it is getting to be late August and we are still within a reasonable distance with some great playing and a lot of luck to take wild card. I was just wondering the last time we were in this kind of position.

Yes he is a .295 career hitter from the right. I was hoping Yost was going to do an all right handed line up today and be quick to sub, but I guess not.

Jenkins needs to play. He's carried us.

Personally glad to see Lyle in there too. Prince can be our first PH when they bring in a RHP. Branyan would hit for Helms in that situation.

Edit: I hope.
