8/10/2004: Brewers (Davis) @ Braves (Thomson)

Dealin' Doug takes the hill for the Crew tonight looking for win number 11, and to get the Crew to within 5 games of that magical .500 mark. Davis has yet to face the Braves in his short National League career, and has not fared well on the road this season (12 GS, 4-7, 5.04 ERA, .295 BAA). Thomson has struggled off and on this year, as evidenced by his 4.45 ERA (he has an ERA of 5.29 at home this season). He has started three times in his career against the Brewers, and holds a 1-1 record, including a shutout, and 3.00 ERA spanning 21 innings of work. It's up to Davis to extend this winning streak to two and halt 1st place Atlanta's at 5. Look forward to a good game.

Call me silly, but I have a good vibe about this game tonight.

I hope it's right, because Atlanta is ROLLING right now.

And to everyone who said I was on crack for picking the Braves to win the east.....http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif

See, I thought that Bowa would have been fired by now. We are dealing with a guy who ran Rolen out of town. That should have been enough to remove him. Now he agian has driven Philly into the ground.

Let's hope Doug can win this one. I also have a good vibe about this game, but I tend to get that whenever Doug Davis takes the mound for the Crew. Let's hope we can stop the Braves like we stopped the D Train and Florida.

B. Clark rf .270

W. Helms 3b .254

G. Bennett c .196

S. Podsednik cf .252

And Overbay is in the 4th spot!

One in a row!

Is this the beginning of something?

I hope Doug can get that 11th win (he should be going for win 12). Scotty batting in the 8 hole? I hope with the 3 days of rest for him and batting 8 a few games can ignite Scotty into the hitter from 2003. I have a good feeling that it will.

I am SO sick of seeing Clark, Bennett and Helms in the lineup everyday.

For those of you whole LooooOOoove Clark, there's a reason his career OPS is .722.

And if Bill Schroeder says ONE more F&(*&& time that Sheets and Davis need to walk more guys, I'm going to scream. This guy was a friggin catcher for years!!! What a ******.

So Helms get's a gift single and then runs into an out. He wasn't even running hard!

Nice.

EDIT: Schroeder should be happy, Davis has already walked 3 in 1.2 innings. Way to go, Davis! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Small strike zone today

EDIT: Second pitch Pods see's in his new 8th spot, guess what he did? That's right, lazy fly to the outfield http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Atleast it was opposite field.

Does Helms have a Russ Branyan voodoo doll? If he doesn't, he better get one, because playing like that is going to ensure he slides back to the bench (if) Branyan gets healthy.

Anyone want to explain why Obermueller wasn't sent down and a catcher brought up?

Two reasons:

1) That would actually make sense, and

2) The Brewers would have to demote Obermueller, who works hard.

Spivey?!? PLEASE.

How about that Hall toss to third? I can understand what went through his head, but come on. (That was a grounder right? I was only paying half attention that inning)

I was trying to think of some positives over this slide. Each game we drop, we get closer to gaining a better pick next June. But that doesn't really count, because I was thinking the crew had a remote chance of signing some one who could help now. I know--realistically I have a better chance of being voted in as president. Never hurts to hope.

The only positive I came up with was that September is only 22 days away. 555 hours. Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock.

I start the guy in fantasy baseball all the way through his slump and the first day I bench him he goes yard. That dink.
