Yeah that worked out well! With Zambrano having 88 pitches through 5 innings & the cubs bullpen needing a break. Does Piniella pull him after 6 or run his pitch total up? Or bring in Wood?

He was doing some funny stretching with his arm between pitches earlier and now Lou pulls him after the HR. Lou was out there before the inning as well. Something's up.

The Cubs never seemed overly concerned about Zambrano's pitch count. IIRC, he leads the league in Pitcher Abuse points.

What happened? I'm convinced that Zambrano's arm has been filled with cortisone for the past month.

Looked like Z asked out of the game. He was pretty filthy all day, but that homer might have hurt his delicate psyche.

In yahoo gameday notes it says Zambrano left the game in the top of the 6th with an undisclosed injury.
