laundry question

okay, so I have a bunch of nice hybrid material shirts (ie, those new golf/polo type shirts that have been out a few years that are NOT 100% cotton, and breath well). They say to not use dryer sheets, and I've heard that with nice pants, too. So...how do I prevent the static buildup?

Do you ever re-use the sheets? I usually keep a few well used ones for just such occassions. All the fabric softner is worn off, so they won't leave any grease stains on your clothes, yet will still get rid of the static.

Also, you could always just hang those shirts up to air dry. It is summer after all.

Lay out a towel on the floor in an unused space in your home and lay them out on the towel to air dry. It might take a day or so, but you won't have any static issues with them--plus it's a free way to dry those delicate items.

I've been married for nearly 19 years and have done 99.95 percent of our laundry in that time, so my resume includes all things laundry.

Also the fabric sheets will wreck the materials. It will cause the wik away materials to not wik away the moisture.

Supposedly the fabric sheets leave residue that clogs the wicking materials and they no longer breath

Lately if it's a semi-nice shirt, I just take it to the dry cleaners. Most places charge less than $2 to launder a shirt. Plus, I'm too lazy to iron, or read labels...

Too lazy to iron but dropping them off and picking them up exerts no energy? It literally takes about 2 minutes to iron a shirt. http://static.yuku.com/v2//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/happy.gif

I'd say it takes more like 5 but anyway, if you have like 8 shirts that's 16 minutes - which is more time than it takes to drive there and back.

They do sell anti-static stuff to put in the washer, but I don't know how it works...I insisted my wife go back to bounce, as it made clothes soft, but static filled.

But, I'm also not good at it. So I guess I'm too lazt to learn.

laundry sheets un-wick clothes? anyone know if that's true with polypropolene?

would a tennis ball work in place of a laundry sheet to remove static?

Not necessarily a tennis ball, but balls work. I have 4 dryer balls (stop giggling) and haven't used dryer sheets in almost a year. They are available at Target, or Bed Bath and Beyond, or Linens. They do fine with static. Little blue spiky things. Check 'em out.
