Jeremy Brown DFA'd

The A's DFA'd him today.

 

I'm guessing he doesn't get picked up. He had been awful in AAA so far this year - so bad that he has been even worse than J.D. Closser. He really only had one good minor league year - which was his third time through the Texas League. The walks were pretty much always there, but he never developed the power they projected him to.

Considering the state of major league catching, it's hard to believe he can't develop into a 700 OPS guy...that makes him an above average reserve.

I haven't heard much about Jeremy in a while. I liked him in the AFL, but I also have heard of some personal issues. If we didn't have Rivera and Rottino in AA, I'd like him for depth. But I don't think we need him. He's solid defensively and works well with pitchers. But after a fantastic start to 2006, he really slumped, and it has carried over

someone will pick him up to play somewhere, even if it's in AA rather than AAA. The bloom is off the rose though.
