Wow, even after graduating four quality starting pitchers, 7 of the Marlins' 8 top prospects are pitchers. Of course, they also graduated five position players in '06, but that's still extremely lopsided.

Thanks for the team-by-team updates homer. The NL East is rather blah, a lot more so than I initially thought.

Keep in mind that with the Nationals likely up Friday, BA will likely switch gears for a week, next week, to focus on their annual college baseball preview. I believe the NL Central reports should pick back up on Monday the 22nd.

The Reds were featured on Monday:

And the Pirates today:

I really like McCutchen, but I always have a hard time with organizations whose top prospect is still another year or two away from contributing. The Pirates have been consistently picking towards the top of the draft for years, but they don't seem to have much to show for it.

As for the Reds, their system looks as though it is in its best shape for a long, long time. Bailey obviously is one of the top 3-5 prospects in baseball, while Jay Bruce is up there as well. Joey Votto is a solid bat that should be contributing soon, and their entire top 10 list is pretty solid from top to bottom. I don't know much about their depth, but they have certainly hit on some of the recent high draft picks.

You can really tell the state of dissaray the Pirates are in when there #4 prospect is Yoslan Herrara, a cuban defector they signed just this year.

I would be curious how Herrera rates in comparision to Yohannis Perez? And how Yohannis Perez would rank if he was a Pirate prospect?

Yeah, that and a #5 prospect who's a 26 year old reliever, a couple of 24 year olds in AA, a college corner outfielder with 109 Ks and 18 BB in low A ball at age 22. Reminds me of the Brewers' list with the likes of Brandon Kolb and Mike Penney in the top 15 a few years ago.

Cincinnati has some impact talents, to be sure. I don't get the sense that Krivsky is going to be a great GM though, and the last BA had a story of some longtime employees leaving on bad terms, after opposing the Kearns deal for example.

The Cards' 2010 lineup is almost exactly the same as their 2007 lineup. While that speaks partly to the quality of their current big leaguers, it's also a gigantic diss on their farm system.
