i had the same problem when i hooked up an hdmi cable. If i remember right, you need to mess with the audio settings on your actual cable box......mess around in there and see if that fixes it.

yes, that is exactly it...i just tested it. On your remote, hit cable to choose the cable box.....then press settings, go into more settings.......and audio out needs to be set to HDMI.

the suspense is killing me, so I must know if the problem was fixed, zing. I can't help but this is almost like reading a book and missing the final page, like that MASH episode.

Havn't tried the sound issue yet but I also noticed earlier that when I put the HDMI cable in I only got 720p resolution and I had been getting 1080i with the component cables. Is this a setting I can change also? Thanks!!

Thanks for bringing this topic up. I'm always a generation behind it seems with technology, but I was wondering why I couldn't get my component cables to work for my ps3 (non-HD tv). This thread gave me the idea of messing around on the tv menu, where I found out I had to switch a setting on the menu to accept component cables. Thanks guys.
