Baltimore Orioles Looking for a high end reliever and starting pitcher. Looks to me like they should begin the trade dance with Milwaukee

I think it's easier to find a player blocked at a position - such as 3B (Coby Mayo for instance) than high end arms. It's not like you have one starter. If we can find the arms, great. Go for it. But teams really seem reluctant to trade high end young pitching - which I understand. It's hard to find.

Why you have to target teams with a lot of it and who are desperate to win a WS, like the Dodgers or the Braves.

Ortiz and Turang are our new SS/2B combo. Mayo goes to 3B. Reports are somewhat mixed on his ability at 3B. He's got a huge arm, and might best fit in the OF, but we don't need him there. If he can't handle 3B, he moves to 1B and/or DH. He's a big, power hitting right-hander that we could really use.

Step 2: Adames to someone else for a starting pitcher. 

This probably isn't as easy as I make it sound - but find someone to get a young starter who is ready - or nearly ready - for the majors. Example would be Ryan Pepiot of the Dodgers. The goal would be to have a young arm to replace Burnes. No, he won't replace Burnes' production, but at least be serviceable. 

In the end, you add six years of a couple of good looking position players - including a power bat in Mayo that the team lacks. 

Not nearly enough for Burnes and Williams and if this team traded both of them without getting pitching back it would be disastrous.

Sheehan is just as much of a stud from a pitching perspective as Mayo or Ortiz. 

Holliday is a different story. But we're not getting him.

To give up one of the best relievers in baseball with two years of control and a top of the rotation starter we must do better than that hypothetical Baltimore offer which isn't nearly enough.  

they better get a nice haul if they are trading Burnes and Williams. Wonder if it be better off trading them seperate

When you’re negotiating with a team that has a farm system like the Orioles, I’d feel comfortable sending Burnes and Williams there for the right return. Mayo is a must.

He’s been a late bloomer. Was the best pitcher in the Texas league this year and a top 50 prospect mid season before he graduated. Their second best young pitcher after Miller who’s out of our range by this point.

Sounds like Burnes will be in Milwaukee come OD 2024.

Odds are pretty slim Devin is dealt to the Orioles now.... even though Devin is still far and away the better pitcher 

Why do i keep seeing that they Brewers "have" to get pitching back when it comes to a Burnes trade? That is completely wrong thinking for a team like the Brewers...You get the best Talent available Period.

I don't really consider Kimbrel a  high end reliever any more. Lot of money to pay for someone so inconsistent and unreliable. Going to be tough to trade Williams there now since they signed Kimbrel. Still Williams is so much better. And has 2 years of control. Would have been a less expensive route to get Williams

Yes. There was an article last season saying he became a high riser late 2022(Miserioski like) and 2023 possessed the best fastball right now in all the minors.  He graduated off the top 100 lists basically before getting a chance to be on them pre-2023 and mid-season 2023.  Scouting report is 6-4 I believe with great extension that tumbles his fastballs from 94-98MPH(likely pushing 97-99 with age progression) 

Has a slower 80s changeup that is working more plus pitch to combo with.

Check out the reds you see from savant. Ignore the ML blues as he'll be better with experience. Plus how his young minors stats will translate. 125+IP became his high at end of season so he was filling in rookie rushed stats pitching to ML hitters his final 60IP.  Something that would been akin to Brewers starting Miserioski in August.  All these Stone-Pepiot-Miller SPs Dodgers have been rushed to ML and I'm not sure 1 of them has pitched over 135IPs in a single season.

Miller fwiw has even a higher red rate, nearly entirety. Untouchable I imagine. Or you're adding to Burnes to take him.

Also adding-scrolled down Sheehans page seen the 2023 comp listing Woodruff and Scherzer (23)among a few others.  Yeah you can insert that kind pitcher in to our rotation for 1yr of Burnes while he might be available.

not feeling this is high end. Middle ofthe road , over over priced, and no where near Williams pedigree.

I agree. Roast beef and cheese with Mayo. 

Looking through the Oriole's prospects, they have a few young pitchers that might be interesting but nothing special.  If you throw enough mashed potatoes at the wall, something might stick.  Baumeister and De Leon have higher ceilings than the rest.
