  1. Thanks to MetsGiantsNoles and the previous 1499 users for all you've done to make Brewerfan.net what it is today!
  2. I'd say the only chance he has of making the team is if Spivey goes down with injury during camp. During the game yesterday, Gord Ash sounded confidant Weeks would begin the year in Nashville.
  3. c'mon scoop with over 1900 posts at Brewerfan, I figure you'd have a finely tuned sarcasm meter by now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. Glover worked a cutter into his repitoire last year. Sound like anyone else we know? Before you know it, Maddux is going to start teaching the cutter to ushers, batboys, and parking attendants to increase their value to the organization.
  5. Jose Macias's was great.... "Macias wears uniform number one, which is one more than the number of things he does well enough to be a major leaguer"
  6. To me, the most impressive things about the outing are Adams and De La Rosa's outings. Adams outings are proving that he can probably do at least an adequate job of closing (which should only get better over time)... and perhaps Jorge is feeling more comfortable in a relief role, maybe a long relief role which ultimately he can be stretched out and turned into a starter from. Of course, these observations come from just after a handful of innings http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Yeah, it's work, but the fringe benefits are entertaining, to say the least.
  8. [ Brian...I've been a semi-regular member here for a few years and I've always wondered.... what does your handle "SquarePusher" mean? ] It's just something I stole from one of my favorite music artists.
  9. Heck yeah, i'd want to talk to Gord Ash, but i'm sure he wouldn't be able to publicly answer the questions I would want to ask! Besides... I don't have audio here at work at this point http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  10. [ Who would you rather be? Greg Maddux and a ton of personal success, or Mike Maddux with some personal success, and an uncanny nack for bringing success to others? ] I thin the former pays far batter http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif .. and there's that whole "hall of fame" thing as well.
  11. [ i clicked onto the discussion thread for this game and a tumbleweed rolled across the screen. the lack of chatter is unbelievable. ] It's a Friday... did everyone already leave work early for the weekend?
  12. Is Gary Glover... Doug Davis part 2?
  13. I've gotten three responses so far, and each of them definately have their merits. One is really standing out to me right now. I'd urge anyone who's thinking about applying to do so before the weekend's out, because i'd like to make my decision quickly to get the ball rolling on this. And for those who don't get chosen (or feel their talents could possibly lend themselves in different ways), 2005 is going to be a big year for the site, and there are going to be plenty of opportunities as we expand our operations.
  14. Now that Michael (madbad2000) has shifted from Director of Public Relations to Director of Minor League Operations, we're open to the possiblity of backfilling that role. We'd like to take a big step forward in getting our "message" out to the public this year, and would like to add someone in a temporary-to-"hire" role (of course, "hire" meaning becoming full fledged senior staff member with all the trimmings). I'm looking for someone who has been around the site a while, has a very even temprement (no message board hotheads! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif ), and has a fair amount of creativity. In addition to doing things that we outline for them to do, i'd like them to have the ambition to think of things on their own that would benefit the site from a PR angle. A short list of tasks includes: - maintaining and promoting the player/family forum. - maximizing the audience of original Brewerfan.net content - working with radio stations to slot segments from Brewerfan.net staff members - working with Milwaukee media to promote Brewerfan.net We'd like to get our name out there, as well as provide a comfortable resource for fans, players, and families of players. Let me stress, this is an "internship" role, but if things all go well, there is certainly the opportunity to be one of the core staff members of the site. It could also be an opportunity for someone who's pursuing a public relations job "in real life", to build a resume. We've had Patrick (colbyjack) go on to get a real basbeball gig with Perfect Game USA, and I think it's only a matter of time before Bill (batman) is writing professionally for someone, so the opportunity is there. If you are interested, and have the ambition to help out the site, shoot me an email at webmaster@brewerfan.net with the subject line "Director of PR". Please include your fan forum username, why you think you'd be good for this role, and any ideas you have for the role. If possible, please also include the line of work you're in at your "day job", or if you're a college grad (though that certainly isn't a prerequisite), your major and/or minor. Good luck!
  15. Got my copy of BP 2005, and sure as heck, Brewerfan.net gets the mention on page 138 as advertised! Great seeing the site in print! I have to say, I ordered the book solely for that reason, but now I can't put it down. Yeah, it's loaded with great info, but what makes it worth the money are the player capsules for players that suck. Oh my god, they're just BRUTAL. It's most excellent. By all means, pick up a copy.
  16. [ You have ZERO chance of getting on base if you cant make contact. ] Well, you can walk.... or you can take 1st on a passed ball on strike three!
  17. Well, thanks to the yearly transaction pages at baseball-reference.com, I was able to enter everyone for every year in the major league portion of the Rule 5 draft. I'm still looking for help from anyone who has historical info on the minor league portions... Wow, I didn't know Neddy was a Rule 5 draftee....
  18. Coop, I think the expiry date for your last year's subscription is 03/31/05 (or something like that), so you'll have access to audio until then.
  19. Got a new page out there: www.brewerfan.net/ViewRul...ory.action If anyone has historical data on the rule 5 draft for the Brewers laying around, any help would be greatly appreciated.
  20. It's probably whatever comes first... Welcome aboard, by the way.
  21. But someone could claim him off waivers then!... oh the horror!
