  1. I'd consider dealing Gamel to get Harang
  2. I would love to get Lee, even if it meant giving up Gamel.
  3. If the Brewers make a trade, I'd like to see them get a guy they will have for 2010 and maybe 2011. This teams pitching woes will continue into next year without additions via trade.
  4. Why did we trade Gwynn again? Also, what was so bad about Melky Cabrera? Those two moves/lack of moves have me scratching my head a bit.
  5. I'm going to predict its Lee for Hart and a few other pieces
  6. Don't get me wrong, I like Mike Cameron. For a team that is flush with cash, no need of a LHB or on the cusp, he makes a bunch of sense as a CF. But that isn't this team. Maybe they are closer to being a playoff team than I believe right now, but this team still needs a LHB - Melvin stated he wanted a more balanced lineup for next year, unless he has a rabbit up his sleeve we will be right hand loaded again. We certainly are not flush with cash, and we still have not addressed our SP situation. Now, Gallardo may be healthy the entire season and be a #1, Parra might step up and tackle the #3, Busch might put it all together as the #3, Suppan might find the goove again at #4, and McClung might be a nice suprise at #5. Cappy could make a comeback of the year attempt and this whole thread is for naught, but ringht now, knowing (not hoping) what we know, I have a hard time being hopeful for this next season. We might be .500, but what have we done to be better than last season.......nothing except lose our #1 and #2 pitcher respectively. I expect Hoffman to be a wash with Torres. Tell me I'm wrong....please!

  9. I'd pursue Hoffman. What do you have to lose?
  10. I heard that the ANgels value defense...that likely makes a Fielder trade with them a non issue.
  11. If Cruz isn't an impact pitcher, I think you walk away from him. Now if sheets signs somewhere then maybe. COuld we make a deal with Texas for one of their pitchers to free up a spot for Sheets down there? Could we see a scenario where Sheets has no options other than a one year deal with MKE? potentially for even less than arby $?
  12. I am actually okay with the payroll staying about the same. As others have stated, some teams are going with smaller payrolls. If we can reamin about the same, we will have an opportunity to add a couple players in the near future. Now that Texieria has signed, does that open a market for Prince? Do we want it to open a market for Prince?
  13. I wish I was as optimistic. I feel a little better that some of you are. I just can't shake the ghosts of offseasons past.
  14. Maybe I'm reading too much into this quote: Melvin said that even if Cashman were to call to re-open talks about Cameron, he might not be open to the idea anymore. "I'm not necessarily shopping him," Melvin said, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "The Yankees had expressed interest. The only reason to do it was to regain some flexibility to pursue pitching. But the good pitching is drying up anyway." If we don't improve our pitching staff we will be lucky to be .500 again. Maybe he is just referring to FA pitcher, but it is concerning to me that we might be headed back to mediocrity after a one year run. That would suck!
  15. That means we are likely done shopping for a vet pitcher then as well.
  16. A lefty for the pen...at worst. Bring him in.
  17. What about Wigginton? Wouldn't he be a better option at 3b than what we have now? He had a solid offensive year last year, I don't know what his Defense is like though. Scratch that...I just read he sucks defensively.
  18. Why not Penney? He seems to be the guy with the most upside. Do we need to consider moving Prince for an arm? How about Giambi for 2 years in that scenario?
  19. Seriouisly, can you blame them? If you can pitch for a team like the Cubs, Cardinal, etc. who year in and year out make a run improving the team via trades and FA, why would you want to play for a small market team that only every few years can do that.
  20. Cameron for Melky straight up does favor the Daddy Warbucks, but it does provide 10 Mil of salary cap to get a pitcher.
  21. Although this might be a bit of a salary dump, Melky provides a LH bat and some youth. If we can include Hall to get a pitcher...all the better. NY media reports a pither from the 40 man likely will be included with Cameron. All hall, maybe we can upgrade the arm...a little...since he is CC's bud.
  22. Macha said we will have a team that will compete...yeah....mediocrity is back in MKE! Go Brewers!
  23. Unless we get some starters, what is the point of adding a closer. We should have gotten one last year. Losing CC doesn't depress me, but the whole duct tape and mirrors message that Melvin is throwing out there reminds me why its so tough to be a Brewer fan sometimes.
  24. Put me down for Penny and Garland
  25. That offer is beyond crazy! Do you think Cashman asked CC - Okay, we know you want to play in CA, but what would it take to get you in NY? CC thinks, what the heck, ask for something outrageous and see what happens. Cashman says - its only money! Come on in! I'm happy for CC, but its too bad he can't hit any longer.
