  1. Whoever made the quote, "September, it's the new August," please e-mail me the next winning lottery numbers. That quote is prophetic genius. If this team does not make the playoffs and Ned is still the manager next season, I will burn my Brewers shirts and post it on Youtube. This is pathetic. a bullpen full of call-ups and you leave a struggling closer in. Use one reliever per batter if you have to. After the absolute crap that has gone on the past week, this game needed to be won. We are getting pwned by sub-500 teams. This team no longer goes into games expecting to win. They now just hope that things go right - flailing at pitches, watching pitches right down the pipe go by, etc. Hey Prince, swinging as hard as you can at every pitch doesn't mean squat if you don't hit the bloody thing. Ned, you are here to win - NOW - tomorrow be damned. In fact, we traded part of the future for this year (can you imagine where we'd be without CC? shudder). There are all the stats saying the Crew should make the playoffs if they just play over 500 ball. Right now, I don't see that happening, and even if it did, do you think a team that backs in by some miracle would be worth hoping and cheering for? Didn't think so.
  2. Supertramp - Breakfast in America . . . but Dark Side of the Moon is giving me second thoughts.
  3. One thought is to work at a retailer's warehouse or distribution center. They should be ramping up for Christmas plus when you go back to school in Jan., things will be slowing down there also. That should be a no-brainer for a manager looking for good temp help (you).
  4. Fondy, that reminds me of the 90's when we had season tix. One night we were running a little late, Nieves was pitching (most folks know by now where I'm going with this), and by the time we reached Hawley and Bluemound it was 7-0 in the top of the first. U-turn. Excellent comparison to Major League. Instead of the Cervoceros, how about the Cerranos?
  5. Barons - as in oil barons, which OK has a good share of.
  6. Peanuts specials were a holiday staple of mine as they were for a lot of others here. Mr. Melendez also did Snoopy's voice. Bill Melendez passes away at 91
  7. To add on to what pitchleague said about the Raptors, at the time when the Toronto franchise needed to come up with a nickname the Anaheim hockey franchise was named the Mighty Ducks - Disney marketing dept. naming it after the movie. With hockey being almost a religion in Canada, the good folks up north were, rightfully IMHO, incensed. Jurassic Park was popular at the time, so the Raptor nickname was born as a backlash to Disney's Mighty Duck which was considered a slap in the face to the sport of hockey.
  8. Barbs - It would probably save some therapy time as knowing something is happening can be quite different than actually hearing it.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gifhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  9. Hey Albert, that sleeping giant just fell down the beanstalk! Wow, the Brewers actually have a magic number.
  10. I vow to turn off the tv the next time Riske pitches. Every time I see him pitch, he blows a game. If I listen on the radio, he's ok. Sorry Dave, I'm the cause of you're throwing meatballs at critical times. Last night just killed me because the Cardinals really need to be smacked with a reality stick.
  11. Senor Tomas for Mexican in Hartland. Quaker Steak and Lube, at least the one sw of Madison is a favorite when in the area. I also miss going to Emperor's Kitchen in Tosa - good Chinese, though the local King's Wok is ok.
  12. Use firefox and get the Flashblock add-on for it.
  13. MNShady and brewerjamie15: I've done both those things. What's scary is there's probably a few dozen other people reading this that are thinking the same thing.
  14. Drive in runs with the bases loaded http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  15. And in related news, I was rated the hottest 40+ fat married guy. Sorry, I couldn't resist. That's how silly I think calling a city "sexy" is - at least our own Milwaukee. Ironically, there was an article out on one of the news sites (don't remember which) about the beer-google effect being proven true. Migosh, they needed to do a study on this? Alcohol impairs judgment, resulting in the 2 at 8, 8 at 2 effect - aka beer-goggles. Next thing you know, they'll study to see if pitchers with higher ERAs usually win less than pitchers with lower ERAs.
  16. Even Bango makes a couple of appearances. Warning: some mascots were harmed in the making of this clip.
  17. One alternative, a wimp's way out, is to buy a new hard drive. Remove the current hard drive, load the OS on the new one. Then load an anti-virus program on the new setup and re-attach the old hard drive as a secondary. Have the anti-virus search the old hard drive and you should be able to transfer stuff at your convenience. Once everything is said and done, you'll have an extra HD which can be used for backups, song storage, etc.
  18. Gresham High, home of the Wildcats. Colors are red and grey. We've always sucked in sports and had nobody even remotely famous graduate from there.
  19. Yet another grease trap "fan." About 20 years ago, I worked at a fast food restaurant that had a grease trap that had to be cleaned out every couple of weeks. That thing made a skunk smell luscious and it's contents looked the same as one of the menu items. A few years later in college, I discovered that frying steak-umms on a hangover was worse. I learned how to hold my breath for a loooooong time. EDIT: I second Mosinee. Even I couldn't hold my breath long enough
  20. In addition to Alyssa Milano, add on Mariska Hargitay as an alternate ore even first string as she's around my age. She's definite proof of genetics.
  21. As mentioned in another thread today, mine is a shortened version of Darth Hoser - my username on a couple of SW fan sites. At the time I didn't want to seem too geeky, but now the cat's outta the bag.
  22. TLB, ROTFLMAO! "Good. Good. The Force is strong in you. A powerful Sith you will become." "Execute Order 66." (Just kidding, all). BTW, to confirm my geekdom: my user name, DatHoser, is a shortened form of Darth Hoser, my username on starwarsfan.org and theforce.net.
  23. In Times Square there's a steakhouse called Frankie and Johnnie's that had the biggest and best steak I've ever had in my life.
  24. Concentrate...feel the Force flow. Yes. Good. Calm, yes. Through the Force, things you will see. It helps that my Brewer master (my brother) is a huge film geek. He could name the screenwriter on half the movies ever made, I swear. I was wondering when you'd post in this. Nice catch on Kiera Knightly, Principessa21! 'Nother few. Alfred Molina (Doc OC of Spiderman fame) was Satipo in Raiders (picture the guy who accompanies Indy into the temple in the opening scene, but not out). Frank Marchall, the producer of Raiders, appeared as the pilot in the flying wing scene because all the other actors were too sick too film it. Warwick Davis (Wicket in ROTJ) made a cameo as part of Jabba's yes-men in Ep. I during the pod race.
