  1. fondy - I looked it up,it's Ask Aida. She's Aida Mollenkamp - pretty cute. I'll be embarrassed too, as I've been known to watch Unwrapped and Good Eats on occasion. I gotta go with Alyssa Milano even though I'm too old for her. She's pretty, down-to-earth, and a baseball fan.
  2. To start, USAToday.com had an article on Mythbusters, a favorite of mine. In the article it was mentioned that Adam Savage was a child actor. Over to imdb.com I go and find out that Mr. Savage was a model builder for SW ep. I and ep. II. (He appeared on Charmin commercials, fwiw). Lo and behold, Mr. Hyneman was a special effects tech for the same two movies, plus both worked on many others). Useless trivia, to be sure, but fascinating to a Lucas geek like me. Along with these tie-ins, I've found several others and wonder how many others are out there so I'll list mine and throw it out to the throbbing brain of bf.net. Julian Glover, Empire - Gen. Veers (think AT-AT commander) was also in IJ and the Last Crusade as chief bad guy Walter Donovan. William Hootkins, SW - Porkins on the death star attack, was also in Raiders as Major Eaton, one of the government agents. He was also in Young Indiana Jones. Denis Lawson, the only minor charactor (Wedge) to appear in all three OT films - and uncle to Ewan McGregor, was also in the Hornblower series on A&E as Captain "Dreadnought" Foster. John Ratzenberger, Cheers, was Major Derlin in Empire. Pretty well known trivia, but just thought I'd mention it. Ronald Lacey and Wolf Kahler, both baddies on Raiders, were both in Firefox, a panned movie that I still like so that's why I mention it. Treat Williams played a trooper in two different places in Empire - Echo Base and Cloud City. Pat Roach appeared in the 1st three IJ movies as various big baddies (he was the big German Indy fought under the flying wing). I know there's more, aside from all the obvious stuff like Lucas' kids appearing the the newer SW trilogy, plus the face time for a few of the masked actors in SW ep. II, so I'll try and remember them and post them later unless somebody beats me to them. EDIT: Remembered one. Deep Roy, THE Oompa Loompa in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was Droopy McCool (Blue musician in Jabba's palace) in ROTJ.
  3. Somewhere, Richard Justice is laughing maniacally. Enough has been said about the players - good things as well as the bad. Ned's comments still strike me as coming from somebody under major stress; they're were mind-numbingly bizarre and short-sighted. First of all, if our neighbors had an altercation where somebody could get hurt, we'd get involved. In the same way, this team's playoff chances could get hurt. Admittedly, things will probably get ironed out and be ok, but if that's the case then just say something to that effect. Attacking the reporter smacks of someone who is losing control of the clubhouse. Fortunately we've got players who are composed beyond their years in their reactions to all this (that and Ray Durham could be offered a DB contract with the Pack). Will this ultimately affect the team in one way or another? I don't think so. This is just a scratch on a thoroughbred that already had the equine equivalent of shin splints.
  4. Queen's Brian May published his astrophysics thesis: Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?
  5. JMF, my take is that after all the hype and all the hope this was the series that the Crew was going to show what they are made of. Unfortunately, that showed us just that. I didn't even bother watching an inning of this game as I've dealt with enough disapointment this year. This series was supposed to be the one where the Crew breaks out, at least in our hopes, but the real world smacked us a good one upside the head. While this might seem a downer of a post, it's still JULY! Two months of regular season baseball to go. I'm 41 and I still have to remind myself of that. Patience, padawan. (all of us).
  6. Marc, I hear ya. I've been waiting since '82 for something. You have put into words what most of us here are thinking. FTJ, (who I think is one of the best posters here) had under his avator "Pure Yostian Hatred" which is summing up my opinion right now. Suppan left in to "battle" his way out. Sheets - 7 straight hits??? Holy cow Batman, you've gotta be kidding!! Everyone on this forum will agree, we've got the talent, but nothing is happening. We win on the road and then get slaughtered at home? In the beginning of the season, tell anybody that you're pitching Sabathia and Sheets and losing two in a row, you'll be called crazy. I hear a big gagging sound from 30 miles east of here. p.s. My "Yosted" shirt is in danger of being worn out in the first year. P.S. When I see AJAY, who is one of the most level-headed posters on this board, on a rant, things just aren't going right. Second edit: AJAY is dead on, to boot.
  7. Must be the CN.
  8. Funniest thing I've read in months!! I'm still amazed that a "professional" baseball team hired him as a GM. And the Mets wonder why they are having problems.
  9. Me too, but probably not at 3am.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. 2008 world champs: Count your blessings, you got an easy out on that. She sounds messed to me (and others on the forum) so just move on and be patient. I know it sounds hard right now, but I've been there and things will work out for the best.
  11. Bump. Finally drunk off my (well, you can finish that) and I have to search for the drunk thread!!! Oy vey! Scotch and sweet for those keeping track at home.
  12. Brian, I thought I read somewhere (Lake Country paper?) about the city of Waukesha not filing for a exemption for silencing train whistles in time before a certain deadline. There were other people really irate about that, too. Keep in mind, I'm going off a rather bad memory of a one week old article. EDIT:;; GodSpeed got it. Kudos to you GodSpeed and a shame on myself for missing that.
  13. We'll cut ya some slack, as you ladies are "a more tolerable shade of red." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif Sayeth FTJ: Once again, spot on.
  14. I'm the same as Invader3K, I wasn't looking at the time, either. It's kinda like a batting slump, when you stop trying to push yourself you'll break out of it. As for FTJ: My hat's off to your wisdom. No truer words have ever been spoken by a guy about women.
  15. "What's the opposite of endorphins?" "Double Bacon Cheeseburgers?" I'm still laughing at that one!!
  16. The radar looks awful, but my uneducated guess is they'll start about 1-2 hours later. But I have been known to make mistakes from time to time. Oh dear.
  17. Just think of bandwagoners as Cub fans spending their money here. They also help make more Brewer items available in the stores. I remember 10 years ago when I had to special-order a Brewer sweatshirt in a sports apparel store in the Fox cities - at Christmas, no less. EDIT: spelinng lesnns givn, inkwire withni. I know, the preview button is my friend.
  18. Definitely bullpen help. Picture this: game 7 of the NLCS, the series starts in 2 days, Brewers up 5-4 in the 7th but bases are loaded and one out for Sheets, who is losing it. CC & CV pitched the night before. Who do you go to with confidence?
  19. Dear northsiders, objects in the rear view are bigger than they appear. Sing it with me folks. Number one is the loneliest, Number one is the loneliest, Number one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do. . . After the Crew scored their first two runs, with two outs no less, I finally have a confidence in them that I haven't had in 26 years. Yes, I'm among the old fogies on this board (I want Matloooooock!). Can ya tell I'm still psyched?
  20. I was just able to sign in to my yahoo e-mail account. I don't have any advice other than checking to see if your DNS server got changed/hijacked.
  21. Google is your friend. It refers to being sold-out. Humphrey Bogart says it in The Maltese Falcon. Not much, but here's a link: Six, two, and even
  22. Johnny Rockets - when you picture a 50's malt shop, this is it. Yummy pie a-la-mode, too.
  23. Seconded, fondy!!
  24. I hear ya tristar. I'm so bored I'm finally changing my sig. and avatar. This concludes the test of the Hoser Posting System.
