  1. Love that curveball in a fastball count at 2-1 to Machado. Peralta really has confidence in that curve tonight -- nice to see
  2. I'd much rather use a package like Ortiz+Ray to go after controlled talent, not a 2-3 month rental.
  3. Man, that curve ball from Peralta to wipe him out. ... Sexy
  4. Rough to only get a run there, but they at least got Maeda's pitch count up high early. Need to start punishing those cement mixer sliders.
  5. Maeda is missing his spots on almost every pitch. Need to get more than one here.
  6. Is the roster rule still in place that, in order to make the playoff roster (with the exception being as an injury replacement), you have to have been on the 25-man on 8/31 or earlier? I thought it was 40 man on 8/31 or earlier. Oof. Thanks BHS & long ball!

  8. If the price would be roughly even between deGrom & Syndergaard, I think I'd actually roll the dice on Syndergaard & the extra year of control. That said, I'm not in favor of moving Hiura. So I probably wouldn't make either move right now. I'd really like to see what we have for a rotation next season with Nelson back, and then the rest of Anderson, Chacín, Guerra, Davies, Peralta, Burnes, etc. It's not that I don't think we need to add a SP this season to be legit. But I'd hate to burn Hiura+ to only get 2 or 3 seasons of a guy, even if he's a true #1. If we're sending Hiura somewhere, I'd like to see him used to get a top pitching prospect, or a pitcher with 4+ years of control.
  9. Thanks guys, I didn't know that. Does sound pretty legit then. The source also could've been one of the players' agents, just another guess
  10. Where are you seeing that? That's a pretty steep ask for a SP with 1+ years of control having his best year. From the guy that broke the Moose trade I'm not trying to stir the pot just for the sake of it, but do we actually know that this Twitter account actually broke anything? Or is it possible he/she got lucky on a guess that the Moustakas deal would happen? Just saying... if HH had gotten anything right, loads of people would've assumed he had a legit source when really he had nothing.
  11. Ok let's steer this back onto a civil form of discussion please. Everyone has had their say & back-&-forth jabs. Thanks
  12. Didn't the ump publicly apologize, then Galarraga brought the lineup card out the next night or something like that? Was handled very classy if I remember right. I don't recall that, but that sounds pretty cool. Yeah, Joyce handled it as well as he could've. Class act... I just genuinely felt bad for him -- you could see the mistake just ate away at him.
  13. Ump - Jim Joyce Pitcher - Armando Gallaraga (DET) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armando_Galarraga%27s_near-perfect_game Poor Jim Joyce. I remember at the time that players kinda rallied around him & said he was one of the best umps in MLB. And if I recall correctly, Joyce was distraught like right after he made the call at 1B.
  14. It's a good thing then that that's all a bunch of superstitious hokum. FIRST BATTER!!!!!!
  15. Or a complete game no hitter. Haha - touche. Guess I'm preparing myself for it to be broken up.
  16. Chacín is dealing! 67 pitches through 5 innings, with 6-0 lead. It would be great to squeeze 8 innings out of him tonight.
  17. Yeah but he sucks and should aim better. Too bad baseball has changed since it was created... I am pretty sure Doubleday wanted exit velocity instead of runs to determine the winner... To every poster, not just the ones in this set of quotes, let's keep this IGT from devolving into the bickering we've seen recently. We're cheering for the same club, please try to focus on enjoying the game!
  18. It's certainly concerning. I can't think of a Brewer that I've ever seen do this as frequently as Arcia. Really makes me think he doesn't see pitches well. I wonder if his vision needs a fix a la Corey Hart
