  1. If we're selling low on Santana (or Arcia for that matter), I'd much rather shop them for prospects than let them go for a rental. Or use them to get a non-rental big leaguer.
  2. "Knockdown offer"? Never heard it phrased that way before. I assume he means a knockout offer? Knockdown makes me think a discounted price.
  3. I wanted that stadium to come to fruition so badly. I just loved that design concept. https://www.draysbay.com/2011/6/28/2248730/draysbays-stadium-proposal-part-2
  4. Has any rhyme or reason to this surfaced yet? Were they just celebrating with Burnes maybe?
  5. Thanks for sharing this. I didn't know any of this, & it's really interesting to take into consideration. Maybe it winds up meaning zilch. But interesting nonetheless. I'll echo this -- and probably should have acknowledged your diligence many times sooner. Keep this stuff coming, JosephC. Really great breakdowns & value analysis.
  6. Mini-slump for Hiura. 1-20 over his past five games. Hope he can shake it off & get back to raking.
  7. He had a bad second half of May. But .842 OPS for June. I like him as well, but I buy the argument that OAK are probably not ready to sell yet.
  8. Counsell answered questions about that in a recent presser & said it's to get him more reps for when they shift
  9. Cervelli's an interesting option since he has some clear OBP ability. Does anyone know how good or bad he is defensively? With his salary, I wonder if the Bucs would let him go for a lottery ticket or two. Would be nice to add depth at catcher for this season & next.
  10. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2018/06/26/milwaukee-brewers-pitching-prospect-corbin-burnes-rolls-punches/733336002/ Sometimes, plans change. Corbin Burnes learned that firsthand recently, when after spending two years in the Milwaukee Brewers organization developing himself as a starting pitcher, he was informed he was going to the bullpen. The switch will be a temporary one and is far from a demotion. The idea was borne out of the desire to get the right-hander to the major leagues more quickly, with the hope Burnes can pitch effectively in relief and help the Brewers back to the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
  11. I hadn't seen this. Thanks for sharing!
  12. Saladino Yup thanks! Either Craig or Rock said Miller heading to the break... yeah it's their fault & not mine
  13. Nice play there by Saladino & nice job by JJ to not let a bad ball/strike call rattle him
  14. This is where I'm leery with Escobar. 2018 doesn't look like his career norms at all & he's in a bad slump right now. On top of that he's never logged a full workload of being a full-time starter for an entire season. He seems risky to me.
  15. Loved the exchange with Rock & Craig about being able to figure out HR distance using exit velocity & angle. Rock -- You can figure that out Craig -- Well I couldn't Rock -- I couldn't either, but y'know, somebody could
  16. I actually agree with the overall premise he posted. The counter-argument being the Brewers probably could've gotten a good young SP with lots of team salary control. CC having a historically good second half of the season makes it easy to say it was worth it, but at the time the package we sent contained a lot of value.
  17. CC's game logs for the 2008 season. Even if you loved that second half & feel like you remember it well, just go back & look through these. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=sabatc.01&t=p&year=2008 Imagine being able to add a performer like this in 2018.
  18. The CC trade was a lot of prospect capital given up for a partial season, but man what a ride. This picture is exactly what I had in my mind. I’ll never forget that feeling. Chills. It was the first & only thing your post made me visualize
  19. The CC trade was a lot of prospect capital given up for a partial season, but man what a ride.
  20. Would love this too, but is it realistic?? The optimism thread has no limits. We say what we want and then it happens (hopefully). I want 100 wins before the All-Star break!
