  1. Whenever someone complains about the Unwritten Rules™, you can say that he must've popped a Qualude (kwah-lood)... ?
  2. looks like Prince is a bit jealous of Braun There's nothing from those quotes to indicate this, aside from huge speculation by the reader. Prince's situation hasn't changed, the Brewers shouldn't be spending as much money as it's going to take to sign him. Gamel will be fine as a replacement, and just a tad cheaper.
  3. Excellent, really hope Caleb can get back into the mix & not have any further setbacks.
  4. How close can he be to returning if he needs scheduled days off after playing partial games? Seems to me he's at least 2 weeks away. Glad to have your fully-informed, medical opinion. I agree with Toby, the Brewers are correct in being careful; glad this was nothing more than a scheduled off-day.
  5. Since we already know he's a solid defender, there's literally no way he could be worse than Almonte. The only thing Almonte did was trick RRR into thinking he could hit in ST this year.
  6. Corey hasn't played the infield in several years now, I'm guessing that Gamel would be a better defender at 1B. But I also think Gamel would be a better defender in RF.
  7. I'd be fine with signing Marcum to a four year extension The reason I'm not is the guy isn't far removed from a TJ surgery. I know there are two types of pitchers, those who've been injured & those who will be, but still. Plus, I'd rather see the Brewers spend more money on the better talent in Grienke (if we have to pick one).
  8. My guess for Greinke is almost the equivalent Braun contract. Sabathia's deal was 7 years as he was entering his age-28 season. Cliff Lee's was 5 years as he was entering his age-32 season. Grienke will be entering his age-28 season as a free agent. He'll easily be able to find a 7 year contract if he wants it.
  9. http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/tony%20la%20russa%20face.jpg Homer... come closer, let me whisper the answer to you so no one else discovers my secrets...
  10. Bill Brasky once hit .578 with 95 HRs and 3,000 RBI as a 38 year old. His OPS was so high it rolled back over to 0.000, & he only finished around .850.
  11. That's the link I'd read. So "assigned outright" = cleared waivers, I assume? I guess I was wondering if that phrase meant he was to go there *if* he cleared, & things weren't necessarily final.
  12. I would think the plan is to extend Greinke and Marcum for 4 more years until Braun's deal escalates. If the plan is to extend Marcum for 4 seasons, I'm not sure I'd want to commit to that. And if the plan is to somehow get Grienke to agree to sign only a 4 year contract, I'll just say good luck with that.
  13. I haven't seen the video but I hope for Josh's sake it was more of a glancing blow and I'm just overreacting. I just watched it again. It was anything but. It was basically a direct hit; the ball ricocheted back almost directly toward home plate. I also can't believe the Brewers didn't treat the injury as urgent.
  14. Just to clarify, is it certain that Kottaras cleared waivers? I see that McCalvy mentioned Kottaras will join Nashville, but is it implicit from that that he cleared?
  15. I like Braun, I don't really like this deal. I don't hate it, I just don't really like it. Guaranteeing him $76M for his age 32-36 seasons could wind up being a little ugly. Hopefully he'll eventually transition to 1B.
  16. Seems like quite a bit of movement overall, maybe I'm just not remembering past P50s well. The comments about Komatsu made me think of Shane Victorino, and then I checked out the latter's MiLB stats. With a good 2011, Komatsu will definitely be a legit prospect.
  17. Haha... thanks again to all those who cooperate to get these P50 updates. We relish them.
  18. Believe me, I want this to be over, too. You make it sound so joyful
  19. Not sure if you saw the broadcast but Brian and Bill mentioned that Kottaras and Wolf tend to hang out together. Yes, the broadcast was what got me thinking about it.
  20. I'm looking for Mike Walker to make his P50 debut, and I think it's all but a given that Santo Manzanillo will as well. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Guessing that Butler will fall off (cruel timing...), along with Arnett (http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif). Arnett might not fall all the way off, but he's probably going to plummet. Thornburg & Morris are my best guesses for helium.
  21. I was thinking about this yesterday. For as much as I hate the Personal Catcher™ concept, it might actually trap the Brewers into making the correct roster move when it comes time to decide between Nieves & Kottaras. Since Wolf really only likes throwing to Kottaras, I don't see how they keep Nieves. Even though Wolf pitched well with Lucroy behind the plate (though, it was the Pirates), he looked frustrated & annoyed numerous times on the mound, and obviously Roenicke had Kottaras catch him in his very next start. Even though the decision to keep Kottaras is correct in my mind based on other, more important, factors, I think what will ultimately seal the deal is the Wolf tie-in.
