  1. UGH. I thought I fixed that yesterday. If anyone can get the individual graphs to post, please do. I tried copying & pasting the images from the website, and then I tried the image urls specifically & posting them in image tags. Link For now, I'll just take the graphs out. You'll have to follow the link to see them, I guess. EDIT: And now I see data points in the graphs. Still taking them out of the post.
  2. Oh, and sorry for the double post, but I also tried & loved Flying Dog's Snake Dog IPA. I'm a fan of Flying Dog in general, but this IPA was really good imo. Beeradvocate gives it a B (B- from the Bros.); I'd go with a B+ or A-.
  3. Had Flying Dog's Garde Dog, a French farmhouse ale & their spring seasonal. I thought it was just ok, but I can see how it would appeal to a lot of people. It's a little sweet, and a fairly light ale in terms of flavor. Has a B- so far at beeradvocate. I'd agree with that. Mighty Arrow was the first brew from them that just had me at 'hello'. I think of them as very similar to New Glarus, in that they don't make a bad beer. However, I should clarify that I really don't like Belgian wheats, or Abbeys very much. Too sweet for me. Mighty Arrow made me confident enough in their hopping to try the Ranger IPA. Those are the two beers I've loved from New Belgium. I know I posted on them already, but just wanted to re-recommend the Ranger if you hadn't tried it. Disclaimer: Mighty Arrow is very drinkable. Ranger is very hoppy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif EDIT:- Mighty Arrow gets a B+ from beeradvocate- B+ for Ranger IPA, A- from the Bros.
  4. That's right... I'd forgotten it was an and-1. Travesty.
  5. This board is just way too quick with the 'release/DFA him!' stuff. It's a new player every season.
  6. The offensive foul that got called on (iirc) Udoh around the 4 minute mark was just a flat-out joke. It was obvious that it should have been Zoubek's 5th foul, but the Dukies got a gift-wrapped call once again. I would definitely not be surprised to find out this game was rigged. The call was *that* critical (would've been two shots for Baylor), and it was *that* bad.
  7. This sounds like pure speculation by the writers, with no source. There's just no reason for the Brewers to trade him.
  8. What an incredible game. There was never a moment where it didn't have my full attention. You don't see games that well-played & evenly contested from opening tip to final buzzer very often. I love the regional final games... always seems like they're the most competitive to me. Now GO BAYLOR!
  9. I had my first Moon Man last night (get your minds out of the gutters). It was really tasty, reminded me a lot of New Belgium's Mighty Arrow. I need to get my hands on this Moon Man. I love Mighty Arrow.
  10. The data supports what you noticed, rcon. We should definitely add this site to the resource list if it's not already on there. Pretty impressive. FX by Texasleaguers.com He obviously preferred swinging at the pitch out over the plate, or kind of down & away. However he did get pitched a lot more to the outer half & outside. I think the HR in St. Louis I'm remembering is the red square dot (fastball) underneath the yellow triangle (cut fastball) in the upper-right quadrant of the first graph -- right on the right side of the zone. Fwiw, here's the key: FAFastballFF4-seam FastballFT2-seam FastballFCCut FastballFSSplit-finger FastballSISinkerSLSliderCUCurveballCHChange-upKNKnuckleballUNUnknown
  11. Their study includes weighing current talent & future talent. The main post, by Dave Cameron, is here.
  12. From the batting order thread discussion of Witrado pushing his theory that Braun will be unhappy with his contract If only we had some kind of first-hand quote from Braun that would set the record straight... From the Ryan Braun interview with Tim Allen thread. Witrado is an awful journalist.
  13. Does anyone know where to find pitch f/x data on this? I'm not trying to dispute your recall, rcon, just genuinely curious.
  14. With this big of an issue, what about putting him on the DL to start the season, and let him get his swing figured out in AAA. People have said this about pitchers, too. I was under the impression that you can't just do this. If a guy is on the DL, but he's playing in AAA, that's a pretty obvious breach of the rules, no?
  15. I love it. This has to be one of the best Final Four stories ever.
  16. Gamel has a good eye at the plate, but from what I've seen last year, he needs to make an adjustment in the batters box...a small one. He's too close to the plate and gets eaten up on anything on the inner-half of the plate. His most impressive HR or swing (imo) last season came on a fastball way inside at St. Louis. I don't remember how he fared overall on the inside pitch, but he's certainly at least flashed the ability to handle it at the major league level.
  17. Maybe I'm naive for responding, but you're honestly going to project a 14-loss regression from last season? That doesn't seem grounded in reality. We lost some wins on offense to be sure, but probably came close to evening them out with the pitching staff. 14 more losses would take an astounding amount of injuries.
  18. That's nothing short of exciting. Sounds like Peralta has a great chance to shoot up the ladder this season. Our pitching in 2011 could be very, very good.
  19. Maybe the Red Sox present a better opportunity. Jim Edmonds was signed to a MiLB deal, too. I don't know the BoSox well enough to have any idea about their bullpen situation, though.
  20. How about a contract for your dad's blood, signed in beer?
  21. Actually he was above-avg. in each of those seasons, with good seasons in '03, '05, & '06. He was below-avg. in '07, & then horrific in '08. Since 3 years of defensive data is what's required to form a reliable sample, I definitely think '08 should be treated as an outlier. Maybe not '07, since it's not far off his career norms. I agree with monty. I think Edmonds will be fine in limited CF playing time. Sure, he'll be a big dropoff from Gomez, but most outfielders would be. One thing I agree with you about, logan, is that I'd much rather see Gerut in CF.
  22. WOW -- what a game. Crawford's 40-ft. three pointer in the (iirc) first overtime period made me just squeal like a little girl. That's the biggest shot I've ever seen when you factor in distance. It was just a surreal game, and it sucked that one of those teams had to lose. Joe: On Wall, I agree with what you're saying completely. He's not a good shooter, and can really be careless with the ball. I don't see why he should be some lock for a top-5 pick, personally. He's a phenomenal passer & very strong defender. But that jumper is pretty ugly.
  23. I know, just sayin that it still seems to be mental with Manny, he knew he needed a good game, and blew it Manny probably knew this one game didn't matter, actually. Good lord I sure hope the Brewers aren't making big decisions that irresponsibly.
  24. Either way he gets his $14.5M. As someone else said (iirc it was Toby in the prior rotation thread), he'd probably rather just go be with his family than sit on busses in the minors.
  25. Like Toby said, I hate to root against our own players... but it's painfully obvious that Jeff Suppan isn't a pitcher that you can justify keeping in the starting rotation (& perhaps on the roster at all)
