  1. I completely agree, Jason. In fact, I was just saying that to Principessa (who, as you might expect, is out of her gourd at the moment!)
  2. Annnnnnnnnnd Bobby Abreu has zero range.
  3. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  4. Edit again: I should be hired by FOX to be the color commentator. Brutal honesty combined with wit and analysis. Hey, did you know that radar guns read the pitch velocity from OUT OF THE PITCHER'S HAND!?! They probably wanted the new stadium to resemble the old stadium as much as possible. You have to be right on this one.
  5. It's an odd situation. Imo it's kinda funny that we're being so critical of the ump making the literal right call for once. EDIT: Hah... missed that part of jason's post http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. To be fair, Aybar's foot wasn't even within a foot of the bag. I agree in general, given the 'neighborhood call', but that wasn't even close. The camera angle from behind Aybar made it look like his foot was within an inch or two.
  7. Wow. Tim McCarver just told everyone watching on national television that he didn't know until today that radar gun velocities read the ball leaving the pitcher's hand. He's been covering games for how long now? And he was a catcher when he played! I mean, I don't expect any random baseball fan to necessarily know that, but think about that one. That's the 'premier' baseball channel's #1 color commentator. Just wow. I feel like, if I know that, shouldn't *that guy* definitely know that kind of thing? Unreal.
  8. Fontenot was terrible this season, though. Not even close to being good. I doubt he's this bad in terms of talent, but I also don't think the Cubs would do poorly to upgrade to Lopez.
  9. I think it was twobrewers that made the good point in a Transactions thread that Cam is such an extreme love him or hate him player. I just don't understand it -- he was the third most-valuable position player, after Prince & Braun. I can't wrap my head around why some people view him as so replaceable -- and that's not intended as a shot at anyone.
  10. Ned's just one good interview away!
  11. I wonder if one of the sticking points might be how much authority Peterson will actually have over the entire system. Interesting point. While I'm intrigued by Peterson's approach, I don't think the Brewers should just turn over the keys to their entire pitching philosophy to the guy. He should most certainly have input, but not necessarily become the pitching coach and director of pitching development just like 'that'.
  12. Lopez would be a nice fit in Queens. For the Mets' sake, I hope they go after him. EDIT: A reader comment on the FanGraphs article flosses like fossas linked suggests the Cubs as a nice fit. I have to agree, and hope that's not where Felipe winds up. Maybe they feel set with Fontenot.
  13. What about the Yankees year makes you think Cashman has any regrets? $10M isn't peanuts for the Yankees. They have a budget, and sometimes they can't get everything they want (that's why Beltran is a Met, not a Yankee). This team has invested over $600 Million (yes, that's not a typo) in A-Rod, CC, & Teixeira. If you think they couldn't have easily handled Cameron's $10M, I think you're kidding yourself.
  14. What other teams might pay him is 100% irrelevant to how good he is on the field. That's all I'm talking about. I think any contending team that has a need in CF would absolutely fall all over themselves to sign him, yes. If Raul 'no-D' Ibanez can get a multi-year deal, then Cam absolutely can. The Yankees didn't even want to take that contract last off-season without the Brewers taking money back. And I guarantee you Cashman is kicking himself for turning down a top MLB CF over essentially peanuts for the Yanks. He's also going to be 37 next year, no spring chicken by any stretch. This was the same argument why we shouldn't have brought him back for 2009. The guy is clearly not on your typical aging curve, and any Brewers fan should see that clearly. Plus, having Gerut in the fold is a perfect situation, since you can spell Cam more against RHP, which obviously is his lesser matchup.
  15. It's not how good people think he is -- it's that he's actually very good.
  16. I feel the exact same way as JimH & others on the 'news scoop-porting', but to be fair, they were 'reporting' based upon the information given to the local Sheriff's Dept. I still find the lack of real journalism despicable, but just sayin'. The real ones at fault here are the falcon-people.
  17. Oh ... lord ... How's this for a nightmare roster of announcers on Fox? Studio: Chris Rose, Eric Karros, Mark Grace Game: Joe Buck, Tim McCarver I'll be right back -- I have to go clean up my vomit.
  18. And that's the second time he's airmailed a DP turn like that this postseason, iirc. And... it's Yankees time! This ALCS is going to be great.
  19. HE STRUCK OUT 156 TIMES!!!!!! we really dont need him. we need someone who can get on base consistently. The Brewers should really make finding a top-10 CF in terms of OBP a priority. Good thing Cameron already fits that description. 2009 MLB CF ordered by OBP
  20. Didn't injuries play a big role in his struggles this past season, though? I wonder if he's just finally feeling 100-ish% ... and then of course there's the small sample http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  21. I think Chip Carey just tried to blow my television speakers on that Manny HR call. I can understand if it was the bottom of the 9th or something, but this was the freakin' 5th inning. Come on, audio guy, turn his mic down when he starts yelling. It's called "balancing" for a reason. Ugh. No kidding. HEY CHIP! YOU HAVE A MICROPHONE! YOU DON'T NEED TO YELL -- EVERYONE CAN HEAR YOU!
  22. Maybe he was puling a prank on all of us. Ashton Kutcher's secret lovechild? And the kid tells on his parents. Oof. That's awesome. Exactly what they deserve.
  23. Awesome updates, battlekow. It's so good to see those velocities for Rogers http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  24. Seattle just traded for Jack Wilson at the trade deadline. Since JJ doesn't wanna switch positions, I don't see him going to Seattle. I'd have to guess there's about a 1% chance that Jack Wilson would block J.J. Hardy. Wilson could also be the one to play 3B.
