  1. Sure, and have him as emergency catcher too. I could get on board with that.
  2. This just seems like a deal Daniels would make to me. Physically gifted/toolsy player & a buy-low opportunity. Plus there's the whole Fielder-Weeks friendship. As much as I love Rickie, if a deal can be worked out here, it'd probably be for the best.
  3. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/03/brewers-contemplating-extension-offer-to-segura.html I know there's basically a zero percent chance of this happening in the real world. But I'm really curious to hear who would & who wouldn't consider trying to sell high on Segura if this report is true. If there's a "substantial gap" for the second season in a row... ? Given how prized service time is right now, if Jean has a great first-half or so, I would definitely make him available. If you could get one of the top pitching prospects in the game (plus potentially more), don't you have to at least consider that?
  4. I just discovered Adblock.
  5. I mean, if we're talking upside, Weeks has basically been the better offensive player at every level of ball & every MLB season save last year. Obviously if a person believes his 2013 is what to expect going forward, then yes, Francisco has more upside. I'm not convinced Rickie's just done as a hitter.
  6. I wouldn't be stunned to see Fowler have big numbers against the Rockies this season after comments like that. Geez.

  8. I agree, but in the context that it also has created the problem of not having a power bat off the bench (obviously this is why many are miffed that Overbay was selected over JuanFran). In the NL, that is a pretty important role imo.
  9. Interesting article from Richard Durrett at ESPN: "Jon Daniels: Garza Trade Could 'Haunt Me'" Excerpt:
  10. Stickied this thread, as it'll be relevant all season
  11. Nice post, Briggs. I'm going to reformat it so it's a touch easier to read/reference, & we'll point to it in the thread title.
  12. With the 25-man roster now sorted, figured I'd give this thread a bump (instead of waiting for someone to create a new one, since this had fallen off the first page )
  13. Noted in other threads, but per some Haudricourt tweets, Duke, Wang, & Thornburg have all made the bullpen & 25-man roster
  14. We finally know what Rizzo looks like!
  15. This post is really hard to take seriously. Opinion is great & all, but let's use some objectivity here.
  16. That is a well put-together boy right there. Wow.
  17. I'd just like to add that I got curious & checked with Kalle about this. I don't want to compromise the discretion Kalle has to exercise, but I do want to add that I have no reason to believe his source is anything but rock solid.
  18. Nothing wrong with asking it here, but you might have better luck in the MLB.tv thread viewtopic.php?f=63&t=30818
  19. It's bad strategy. In the micro sense, it can work & be exciting. In the macro sense, you're giving away outs with what I feel is a very good hitter -- and one that is really good at putting the ball in play, which can also do the job of moving the runner to third with a 'productive out'. Installing the sac bunt as your default approach with a good hitter is hurting the team, not helping it.
  20. I'm not 100% sure as to why, but this is one of my favorite posts in BF.net history
  21. Just saw that. wow. Let's just begin to think that he may out WAR Trout now this year if he holds on to leadoff with the what? 120-140PAs more than the 6th in order suggesting? This does solve the where to fit Gomez problem...Just ignore the .300OB or so you now have a more settled/traditional 3,4,5,6 in Braun,ARam,Lucroy,Davis. I do have a feeling this is a better move than batting Segura leadoff today. I think he needs to improve a little more. I am thinking Gomez single/double...Segura bunt sac/single let Braun/Aram drive Gomez in is a sound strategy. You flip the roles and you just cant ask Gomez to bunt...Segura on the other hand....why not? less power, plenty of speed. Why not? Because that's terrible strategy. Unless you think Segura is basically the equivalent of a pitcher with the bat.
  22. Aroldis Chapman, post-surgery (from his Instagram account) http://i.imgur.com/BulURno.jpg
  23. That was my first thought as well. Must be the $$$ & conference.
