  1. For some people, public speaking is their biggest fear. If he showed up, there is no way that he would have avoided the mic.
  2. Yuni consistently leaves the cotton in the aspirin bottle... he's so lazy, half the time, he doesn't even secure the top correctly... horrible fingerwork.
  3. I would think the national audience would choose 2 top 8 football teams in Nebraska's Big 10 debut over Brewers/DBacks as well, since the national media doesn't really care much for these teams Frankly, I doubt that many people outside of the Madison and Lincoln areas (both in flyover country) care much about this game. Neither of these teams has a very good chance at winning a championship, and after Saturday one will have virtually zero chance. It's not like #1 is squaring off against #2 or Notre Dame and USC are both highly ranked and squaring off. Scheduling on the Brewers/Arizona series will be based on their marquee status, which is pretty low. It follows that they will get the timeslots where viewership is generally low while the Yankees and Cardinals/Philly series both get top billing. My guess is that the elimination of the Red Sox threw a wrench into things for the programming honchos.
  4. This board never fails to amuse me..Some people would overthink the opening of an asprin bottle Maybe I'm overthinking, but I'm kind of old school. Frankly, I don't see the need for a public celebration until the season is over. Act like you've been there before. If this is dictated by MLB, there is no choice in the matter, I guess- follow the money. If this is an attempt for the team to be more 'fan friendly', so be it, but I would argue that the game has become much less fan friendly and much more driven by money over the past 20 years or so. FYI - Us out of towners need to bombard the DirecTV & FoxSports Wisconsin switchboard...right now it's not being shown nationally. As for this, I'm getting very tired of it. I'm sick of being treated like Minneapolis/St. Paul's redheaded little brother. You can't tell me that there is not enough viewership in the state of Wisconsin for DirecTV to dedicate a channel full time to FSW. They have about a dozen channels that are either home shopping or 24/7 showing informercials for acne remedies, wonder bras, Dean Martin roasts and 70's rock compilations, so the excuse that they don't have enough bandwidth on their satellites or whatever is BS to me. OK, my rant for the day is over. I feel better now.
  5. I'm more worried about Marcum and Wolf going back to back in Phoenix than what times the games are played (as long as the weekday games take place at night). Has this rotation been confirmed?
  6. With the bandwagon in Wisconsin completely full it probably wouldn't be much more expensive to fly to Phoenix and catch two games. Too bad America West isn't still in operation, they used to have dirt cheap flights from Mitchell to Phoenix.
  7. Depending on how they decide to depreciate the new scoreboard and other improvements at Miller Park, they likely could turn a small profit into a loss as far as the books and the IRS are concerned.
  8. I'm sure that their accountants can and will make the books show a loss for the year.
  9. Greinke, Marcum and Gallardo are all excellent pitchers but I'd have to order them in that order of expectations going forward I was actually leaning this way. In a 5 game series, Game 3 is usually pivotal so it would be nice to have Gallardo going then. However, it seemed to me that Greinke has pitched badly on long rest this year. I looked at the stats, and they were ugly, so I don't have a problem with the rotation as it stands now. I'm mostly worried about Marcum and/or Wolf turning in a Suppan-like stinker based on how they've pitched of late.
  10. If I was a .280-something career hitter prior to this season, I'd probably pull out all the stops to win a batting title as well- considering the opportunity isn't likely to present itself again. It's crazy with all the good hitters this franchise has had that no one has won a batting title. Coop and Molitor hit .350 but were bested by Brett and Boggs' career seasons, Yount was nipped by Wilson, likely the same thing is going to happen with Braun, etc.
  11. Prince would probably need to get another multi homer game tonight and catch Kemp in RBI to have a chance. The Brewers homer in me still says that he and Braun should be 1/2 and I wouldn't argue either way if that's how it shakes out.
  12. I do like how people are all just ignoring that Gallardo has had a bad September. Without looking, he's been OK to me. Marcum has been bad, Wolf has been borderline bad, and Greinke was bad the last time out. I'm mostly concerned with Marcum at this point, but hoping that Greinke pitches well tonight.
  13. Anyone else a little worried that Marcum, Grienke and Wolf have all had bad last starts? Just as the bats have been starting to wake up too.
  14. If Prince doesn't sign, I go with Gamel and a cheap RH hitting vet who is willing to come off the bench and can play first. I shudder at the thought of giving someone like Cuddyer big money.
  15. Cool- another Yuni thread. Before I talk about Hart, got to say that Yuni is nowhere near as bad as some make him out to be. He has a lot of stinker at bats, but he also seems to hit the ball hard a couple of times every game. I also like that he doesn't strike out much. Defensively, he has perhaps the most sure throwing arm in recent Brewer SS history, and he's very good at turning the DP. Yes, his range is lacking. Didn't check the in game thread last night, but when that run scoring single got by him, I'm sure the pitchforks were out. Bottom line, Yuni is not a great player, but he's been a clear upgrade over the steaming pile that was Escobar. As for Hart, it would have been nice for him to be in a hot streak for the playoffs, hopefully he can sustain this for the next few weeks. I'm just hoping he doesn't go into a cold streak and totally disappear. He has had a very nice year under the radar though, doesn't seem that he's been as streaky this year as he's been over his career.
  16. The Dodgers gag job was more egregious than anything the Sutton could have said. All that I know is the Brewers had better win tonight, because I don't think that the Dodgers are going to win.
  17. He's leading the league in WHIP, ERA, strikeouts and wins without the benefit of playing on the Philly juggernaut. 21-5 on a team with an 81-78 record? Hands down choice if I've ever seen one.
  18. I think Kershaw should be the pick for the CYA. I think he's had the best year by an NL pitcher by far. Kemp has just been slightly better than Braun in my view, so I'd vote for the playoff bound guy.
  19. I highly doubt that MLB and the networks are going to schedule around the Badgers and the Packers. If the series is Brewers/Braves or Brewers/D'Backs it would definitely be one of the lesser games on the 'marquee' scale. My guess is that they would definitely get the 12:30 game on Saturday with all the East coast teams in the mix unless they end up playing the Phillies. If I had to bet on it, I'd say they get both early games barring a Philly matchup.
  20. The tables down in the RF corner are not tho. To clarify my post, these were the ones that I was referring to.
  21. Normally not, but I wouldn't be surprised if they sold them somehow during the playoffs. Normally, you have to line up by the entrance very early and run to them as soon as the gates open.
  22. Here would be my unabashedly homer Top 10 ballot for NL MVP (not factoring in pitchers) 1. Braun 2. Fielder 3. Kemp 4. Pujols 5. Votto 6. Upton 7. Tulo 8. Victorino 9. Berkman 10. Reyes
  23. The White Sox made out nicely here for a guy they may have fired and been forced to pay next year. I wonder if this will be the big Marlin splash for the new stadium, and they're cheaping out or if they are going to make some runs at free agents.
  24. From my experience, the best two places to stand are down the RF line/behind the RF bleachers or in the 3B area near the bar. I think Friday's kicks you out after 45 minutes or something and I'm sure it will be a zoo getting a table even if it they don't sell them in a playoff package or something.
  25. Kemp is basically out of the Triple Crown equation now. He's not going to catch two guys and 10 points in 2 games. I think Braun is back in the lead for MVP again at this point. Kemp has had a slightly better offensive season, but none of his numbers are that far ahead of Braun. I think the playoff run cinches it for Braun. As for the batting crown, if Braun is leading going into Wednesday night and the Brewers have #2 locked up, I hope he sits out. Willie Wilson did this to Robin in '82 and Higuera lost the ERA crown in '88? due to Allan Anderson doing the same. Turnabout is fair play.
