  1. I actually do think he could be traded if he has a good first 15 starts. If nothing else, someone may just take him for free which would obviously be great.
  2. Honestly don't think the Brewers could get Giolito for any 5 major leaguers on their roster.
  3. Personally, I'll be disappointed if the Brewers aren't at least showing signs of contending in 2018. Playoffs? Maybe, maybe not. But hopefully .500+ with real hopes of contention in 2019.
  4. Well, if they got Gallo AND Tate, you would get no complaints from me whatsoever.
  5. I really hope the centerpiece for Lucroy isn't Gallo. That guy scares me. I'd be totally fine with any of the other players mentioned by brewcrewdude as headliners.
  6. I'd be pretty surprised if this team lost 100 games unless they trade Lucroy/Davis/Braun. Even though it wouldn't upset me one iota. I don't really see what this signing has to do with the Brewers' record though. The only role he would ever fill, at least in my mind, is as a LOOGY, which means he's basically worthless as it relates to wins. Could mean one win one way or the other.
  7. Whatever. Never was a fan. Obviously risk free though.
  8. This right here. Throw Santana in CF Until one of the corner guys is traded, and spell those corner guys with him. I don't see any reason why Santana shouldn't start 130+ games barring injury.
  9. The Blue Jays won 93 games last year (and totally mashed) with a mostly RH lineup. They had Ben Revere and Justin Smoak. Smoak and Revere both played half the year. Encarnacion, Bautista, Donaldson, Martin, Colabello, Tulo.....all their power.... all their mash, the entire middle of their order was all right handed. They did a-ok. And the 2011 Brewers won 96 games with 2 LH bats. His arguments get goofier by the day.
  10. As a OTR truck driver it's impossible to post every day, but I do read everyday. You literally have become the Skip Bayless of BF. Honestly every single prospect centric move they make you go against. Then when they sign a vet you go against that. It's really annoying. Amen. WRT this move, love it, again. No risk, medium to high reward. If he figures it out, he's valuable due to having him for 3 years. If not, so what. Also, Carter was significantly better last year then Reynolds was in 2013, and his last 3 years are significantly better than Reynolds' 2011-2013. And he's 2 years younger. But facts are boring.

  12. Yeah the 300 losses in 3 years is going too far imo. If we keep Peralta and Nelson we won't lose 100 in any season, I suppose if both Lucroy and Davis go we could lose 100 this year but that'll be the only 100 loss season.
  13. I don't see how this is a good signing. $80MM for the very definition of an average pitcher. Color me unimpressed. I think it's pretty bad for St. Louis actually.
  14. I'm not a huge believer in defensive metrics, but I definitely think Lindor is the better defender. Having said that, I don't think Lindor had the better season last year even though i know WAR says he did. Correa was hitting 3rd on a contender, which says a lot to me. Lindor was in a pressure-free situation on a doormat. I know that that's not really quantitative in any way, but it speaks volumes to me. Rout was probably a poor choice of words, but I definitely think Correa will be more valuable over the long haul.
  15. Correa in a rout. He'll hit 40 HR at some point. I truly believe that. And he'll be a good shortstop for 10 years. He's Cal Ripken to me.
  16. Well we certainly appear to have an affinity for failed Red Sox prospects. Better get Daniel Bard and Michael Bowden on the horn STAT.
  17. Alvarez simply scares me as a defensive player. He just looks so awful. Nothing is more frustrating than guys who can't play defense with some modicum of competency. I say 'sort of scares' because I realize he could really hit well in Milwaukee. Guys like Alvarez scare me because we get sucked in by the sexy HR talent - and ignore the entire package, which in the end, is often a negative. Ultimately, a guy like Alvarez is probably worth the try. As noted, if he has a good season he can fetch a nice return. I agree on Alvarez in general, but it'll be fun watching some moonshots while we suck.
  18. Lo Cain comes to mind a little bit here My first thought was Mike Cameron. Likely on a lesser scale power-wise, but the profile is similar.
  19. I was going to guess 1.785MM before I saw the other guesses. I guess I was low.
  20. Always take a shot on a former top prospect with big power about to hit his prime. He is able to find it again, we got a steal.... if he doesn't and can't hit for crap as he has past 2 seasons....you release him. All positive. Either he regains form, improves enough to be solid bench bat & playing 1B/3B, or he's gone for nothing Middlebrooks couldn't muster an OPS higher than .666 in the Pacific Coast league last season. That's not "big power." That's a waste of time. I don't care what Middlebrooks hit in the minors in 2011. He's a turd now. Again, I'm not criticizing the move because he's basically free. But people who have any expectation that this is going to lead to something valuable are going to be disappointed. Pretty much. I'll be disappointed if he takes abs away from Villar, for instance. Other than that, I'm not too worried about it. We basically have no one else worth worrying about blocking at 3b at this point.
  21. Can't believe how cheaply the Sox acquired Frazier.
