  2. Well, the Brewers just signed one. Izturis is a much better bench player than Yuni. Neither can hit, but Izturis is capable of playing excellent defense at 3 positions. They're out there.
  3. Pretty much. But I'd expect him to be an excellent defender.
  4. He adds nothing to a bench though. Can't get on base, can't field, can't play multiple postitions, can't run. I'd find somebody who could do at least one of those things.
  5. I agree that the Royals may have signed him as a veteran presence and that he may have a little bit of value in that regard, but again, I personally would flip out if we signed Counsell for $2MM because that would be paying $2MM for someone who isn't any good. Same reason people are flipping out about Betancourt. He's not any good.
  6. He's definitely not the worst player we've had, but he's the worst player we've had play a major role on a contending Brewer team. $2MM is beyond ridiculous. League minimum is about right, and I wouldn't want him on my team for the league minimum. The problem is that he's not good at anything and is fairly terrible at most things. Those guys are useless.
  7. Aaaaaand...........my christmas is complete. No need for presents folks, I'm good.
  8. I'll be pretty surprised if it's not Seattle. Perfect fit IMO. I'm pretty sure the cubs will get rizzo.
  9. I agree The only place we differ is "borderline". I'd replace that with "completely".
  10. Immediately after he demanded a trade and received one. I really don't think there's much of a story here.
  11. McGehee simply regressed to where he should be. I expect him to be average/below average in Pittsburgh because that's what I think he is. Heck of a nice guy, glad he's not on our team anymore.
  12. It's because they know the club only has limited resources and they're spending a large amount on an aging, no-defense player. I can't believe that even has to be stated.
  13. I'm a big fan of this move as long as McGehee isn't playing 1B. I agree with this completely.
  14. I agree with everything except the order. I'd go: Hart Morgan Ramirez Morales Weeks Gamel Gonzalez Lucroy I like that lineup a lot, and I'll really like it when Braun returns. Hart Morgan Braun Morales Ramirez Weeks Gonzalez Lucroy
  15. You have a sick sense of humor.
  16. I'll root for him. Grudgingly. I didn't hate him because he was a Cub, I hated him because he's a d-bag. Home-run watching ***. He's a Brewer now though, so I'll buck up and root for him.
  17. Blurg. No words. Hope it's not true, but I fear it is based on he synthetic stuff.
  18. You sir are on the same page as me. Agree with everything you said. I don't get why everyone thinks Kendrys is so great. He has had one good year in his entire career, ONE. He put together a good season in 2009 when he played 152 games. The other 4 years he played in the bigs he played in a total 178 games. Why do we want to trade for this guy???? Because at least we know for sure he can be very good. And can handle the position. And has a good Attitude. None of which we can say with any certainty about gamel. I don't have anything against gamel necessarily, I just prefer morales given a choice.
  19. So let me get this straight, if he pitched the 9th and Axford the 8th, you would be ok with this? How does that make any sense? K-Rod is A closer, not THE closer. We basically have closer 1a and 1b and that is not a bad thing at all and K-Rod will close when Axford needs a rest. I would want someone in the bullpen for next year who is capable of filling in for Ax should anything happen. Who on the team would fit that role without K-Rod? What Axford makes is extremely relevant to the discussion. If we were paying Ax over $5 million a year then having K-Rod on the team doesn't make any sense. But since we are paying Ax and several other members of our bullpen next to nothing K-Rod at $10-12 million won't hurt us as much. I give up. I cant explain it any better than it's already been explained. Agree to disagree I guess.
  20. Oh man. The perfect offseason is within reach. Anything will do from my perspective.
  21. I don't know how to say it any better. Pretty much what I was getting at. If he was the closer, it'd be different. And what Axford makes is irrelevant to this discussion.
  22. Simple. Because the dude can pitch. Of course he can pitch. I would never deny that. Can you (or anyone else) say with a straight face that you're happy we have him at that price? I can't imagine it.
  23. Not when your closer is making less than a million, there's no one out there that's better so you'd need to sign two relievers to make up the difference, and the bullpen as a whole isn't all that expensive. Look at segments of the team in regard to allocation of resources rather than one specific player or role. Individually, if you allocate so much to a guy that he's not tradeable, that's not a good think. But K-Rod is still tradeable now and he'll be tradeable in-season. Nonsense. K-Rod's contract sucks for us. Not sure why a lot of people are in denial about that.
