Brewers trade for RHP Quinn Priester

Don't like it. Would be completely fine with Rodriguez/cash, but the pick hurts as pretty much everyone has mentioned. I trust the front office though so am moving forward with an open mind. -
Dunn starting at 3B….Are you cool with it?

Dunn is 27 and hasn't done anything of any note in the minors. He had one good season but was pretty old for the league. I'm not exactly impressed. Hope to be wrong, but I doubt he's a major league player. Edit: And, for the record, I would have the exact same thing about McGehee in March of 2009 (and possibly did). -

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say. I think Durbin is more likely to succeed than Dunn. -
Level Two Experience - Where would you go?

I will echo the San Francisco suggestion. Incredible experience. My sister has lived in the Bay area since the mid 80s. I've been to a couple games at Candlestick as well. I would NOT have recommended that. -
Well hopefully he can get back to his rookie form when he had a cool .5 WAR in 388 PA.

I'm 53. Born 6 months after his broadcast career started. He was such a HUGE part of my life. I'm not sure what that says about me, but it's the truth. I woke up this morning and it hit me that I'll never hear that voice on my radio again. I'm just gutted. There's not many people that will understand that, but I know there are some here, so thanks for that.

People trying to talk themselves into this being bad for the Cubs is pretty funny. He's a top 10 hitter in baseball and they can afford him.

Still a great deal for the Cubs in my opinion. Paredes and Wesnewski are eh to me. <Edit: Paredes is better than I was giving him credit for.> Hinges on Smith. Tucker will be awesome this year if healthy, we can pretty much count on that. And it's definitely not immaterial. They have an exclusive negotiating window for a year. They may not end up signing him, but it's not nothing.

Eh. I don't really think they gave up much at all. Absolute steal for the Cubs. Tucker was on pace for 9.5 WAR last year. That's a dumb number. All of this assumes they extend him, which I can't believe they won't.

If they're both healthy, there's very little chance that Williams is more valuable than Cortes. And I'd put the chances of the Brewers flipping Cortes at near zero as well. If Cortes pitches likes he did in 2022, he's going to get 9 figures from someone. Add in Durbin and this is a home run for me.

That sucks. He could be their closer next season. That's a guy I was really hoping they'd keep.

I don't believe in him at all personally. If he gets to 3 WAR over 2 years I'll be surprised.

He pitched to a zero WAR for us. He had a few good starts and a few terrible starts. That's who he is.

Multiple? I highly doubt it. I'd be surprised if he's 2 WAR over both seasons combined. He stinks.

They did for sure. And they still did after this trade. I hated it at the time, but Melvin gotta Melvin.

Not super-exciting, but I like it. And it's probably realistic. The bench is much better, which matters. I'd love to get Singer. I think he could be really good here. Well done!
