  1. Thanks a ton, I'll set the DVR.
  2. And this is why we take criticism of RR with a grain of salt. The game was essentially over. Did you see the win expectancy graph? To defend RR after last night is unfathomable to me. He truly is clueless. Kotsay batting instead of Lucroy, no double switch, Loe facing 4 lefties......I mean, seriously.
  3. Count me among the disappointed if Jungmann is like Mike Minor. I now a lot of 1st rounders don't even make the majors, but Minor is a dime-a-dozen type starter. I expect more from the 12th pick in a strong draft. How is Minor a "dime-a-dozen type starter?" Minor's absolutely torn up the minors to the tune of a 2.86 ERA, 226 K's in 195 IP, a 1.087 Whip. I don't know if you're going off the 60 or so innings he's thrown in the big leagues in which he STILL struck out more than 1 per inning, but he's hardly a dime a dozen type guy. He's also the 37th rated prospect in baseball right now. So....yeah, I'd be alright with getting two of him. Add two 2/3 type pitchers, you've got Gallardo and if you can hold onto Greinke, you could have a better rotation in 3-4 years than you do now. I have no faith in Minor at the major league level. Quite honestly, I was not aware of his success in the minor leagues and should've looked up some stats before I made the "dime-a-dozen" comment, but I've seen him pitch a few times and I'm not terribly impressed. "Dime-a-dozen" is not the correct term for him though.

  5. Yeah, the Rice commitment hurts. Would be very exciting to sign him though.
  6. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif I thought the exact same thing. It's pretty hard to find one guy that Law is ambivalent on, let alone two.
  7. Nah, he's a 4th year junior. He'll take what he can get now, likely around $80-90K. Nice arm, keep those power relievers coming. I agree. Better than the Wooten-types whose results outstrip their stuff.
  8. Probably not signable at that point. At least not realistically. He's still not gone as far as I can tell.
  9. Yeesh.........I don't like that armbar comment. He's probably gonna strike out a lot. Hopefully that can be fixed.
  10. Finally got a hitter. Although he's a pitcher too. Edit: too fast for me brwrsfan.
  11. There's no draft and follow anymore. I'd be stunned if they signed them all.........they reached a couple of times, but man that's a lot of players.
  12. I'm OK with these picks. If it were up to me, I would've taken Barnes and Gray, but there's a reason it's not up to me. Seem like a couple of potential #2 starters to me. Nothing wrong with that.
  13. Probably something pretentious. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gifLaw was pretty down-the-middle on these two picks. He described Jungmann as "being able to pitch behing Greinke and Gallardo" in the rotation with "#2 upside". Also said in Bradley's writeup that the Brewers "Now have 2 legit rotation candidates out of this draft".
  14. I agree, but at the same time, 3b is pretty sad for hitters as well. I'd gladly take a plus hitting/good fielding 3b. They're almost as hard to find as shortstops. I'm hoping for Baez/Lindor and Gray. I really don't have a preference on Baez/Lindor. I'd be happy with either. I actually wouldn't mind both.
  15. I agree with the first two, but Gomez can be a contributor on a playoff team. As long as he never ever hits 2nd.
  16. Up to a .345 OBP this year. .317 career OBP. Still better than Betancourt, particularly for our lineup.
  17. I don't think he does. Thome is purely a guy you use when a long ball is needed. Matt Stairs(though he may be done finally) has extended his career well beyond what could be expected being just such a threat. Giambi is another one. Everyones favorite on here, Branyan falls into that category too, though he's not my favorite. Those are guys with no defensive value at all. But in a pennant race, they can win you a game or two with one swing. Kotsay provides some defensive flexibility and generally a quality AB. I don't think a Thome would replace him on the roster either. Rather they'd go back to one utility infielder. Willingham makes quite a lot to just add as a pinch hitter. Like Kubel, he'd make sense only if Braun or Hart went down for an extended period. Bottom line though is this team seems more committed to speed as a weapon from it's complimentary players. Having both Morgan and Gomez gives them quite a weapon. Or in the situation when you need someone to get on base. Thome would be a great additon.
  18. Well at least we have Betancourt, Counsell and Kotsay coming up in the 9th. Sure hope Luc hits one out.
  19. I had an interesting discussion at last Friday's game with the 4 Rockies fans sitting behind me. They all would've been willing to trade Lopez for Betancourt. And I wouldn't do that as a Brewer fan. He's been really bad the last 2 years. I'd pass.
