  1. Nice. Hail Ants!
  2. Oh, my bad. Misunderstood the OP.

  4. This may not be the right thread for this, but how he was kept over Luis Pena is mind-boggling.
  5. The most intriguing name on that list is Jason Johnson. He signed with the Yankees though IIRC. I'm pretty sure Fossum signed somewhere too and Correia signed with the Padres. The rest are no better than Nick Green or Chase Wright IMO, but I wouldn't mind seeing 1 or 2 invited. I would go for Chacin or Sosa.

  7. I'll say: 1. Texas 2. Atlanta 3. Tampa 4. Cleveland 5. Oakland 6. Baltimore 7. Florida 8. Anaheim 9. San Francisco 10. Milwaukee
  8. Hmm......I find the high end a little low. I'm a little surprised...I would put his upside as a good #2, but these guys certainly know more than I do.
  9. I agree, JJ. I had Lucroy & Green at 5 & 6, respectively, on my list. Lucroy just screams solid major leaguer to me, as does Green. Green could actually be a well above average player, especially if his power continues to develop and considering he'll play 3rd or 2nd. With the exception of Lawrie, these two guys are the ones I'm looking most forward to tracking in the coming year.
  10. I think it's pretty well thought through, considering it's pretty much all he does. I agree with most of his rankings, although I don't agree with Boston or St. Louis being as high as they are, particularly St. Louis. He does contradict himself, as MJ mentioned. Particularly with Boston.

  13. Good Lord, would it be depressing to be a Pirate fan. Of the top prosects of the last 10 years, there isn't an average player in the bunch. Moskos and McCutcheon could still turn out, but jeez, what a bunch of garbage. Dean Taylor isn't in their f.o. Is he?
  14. When do you suppose the next time we'll see a 21 year old in his first full season sport a .420 OBP? His baseball reference page just cracks me up. http://www.baseball-reference.com/h/henderi01.shtml Edit: couple of other things that are hilarious to me: 1. A 127 OPS+ at age 40. 2. In 1988 he went 93 for 106 stealing bases. So........you know he's going every time, you just can't stop it.
  15. Whoever didn't vote for Rickey (and there's a lot of them) should too. Ridiculously dominant player in his prime.
  16. Fair enough. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. I am also significantly less high on Salome than a lot of people are. If he can't play catcher (and there's a real chance he can't), he can't play anywhere.
  17. You obviously don't understand how valuable the C position is if you believe this. Irribaren is worthless though and Suppan is only valuable to a contending team who lost a SP during the season most likely, so I don't fully disagree with you. Zimmerman and Fielder are pretty equal given the major health concerns with Zimmerman at this point. The big problem with trading Fielder is he isn't really worth more than Dunn at 1B and any team that wants to trade for Fielder can just sign Dunn at this point. I completely understand the value of catchers. Particularly catchers who can play defense. J. Zimmerman is a 1-2 type pitcher, which is worth far more than a catcher who is a defensive liability. Neither is proven on any level above AA, but I'm pretty sure DM would make that deal straight up in about a nanosecond.
  18. Highway robbery by the Brewers in the original deal. Ryan Zimmerman and Prince are comaparable. Irribaren is worthless. Suppan is worthless if not slightly negative. Jordan Zimmerman is worth way more than Salome.
  19. I agree with all of the above reasons some teams may value Fielder over Dunn. A couple more: Fielder is 25 and hasn't reached his prime yet, and Fielder's 2007 is worth cosidering. Dunn never put up pretty counting stats, I.e., Avg/HR/RBI, like Prince did in '07. Some GMs might get their undies in a wad over the thought of those numbers.
  20. I'm not sure how much better this makes the Brewers, but I would salivate over Morrow and a Dunn signing. I'm not sure how Jack Z feels about Prince, but if we could get Morrow, I'd be on that like a bad suit. Fielder is significantly more valuable to an AL team, as has been mentioned. He seems like he'll be a well above average DH, at least part-time. He strikes me as a guy that just isn't interested in fielding, and would shine as a DH. Just my feeling, certainly no quotes or anything, just what I get from his body language. This makes the Brewers better this year, and better in the future, assuming Morrow reaches anywhere close to his considerable talent. I wouldn't deal Fielder for Cain, and I don't think the Angels would deal Santana for Fielder (although I'd like that too). He's the simplest path to a young, impact pitcher. I don't think Melvin will actually do any of this, but it's fun to dream. This plan also may leave room to sign another bullpen arm, which I think this team still needs badly. If we have about $5M of room remaining, and Dunn makes about $2.5M more than Fielder's arb #, that leaves $2.5M for a good/decent arm.
  21. If that's true (which it clearly isn't), I'll hate this signing.
  22. Excellent news. I was hoping for a 2 year deal, but I'll definitely take it. I'd much rather have Hoffman at this price than Wood or what he got, or K-Rod or what he got. Nice job Doug!
  23. I agree with all of this except the Garland or Byrd part. I want no part of either one of those guys. If the Brewers could sign Hoffman, Lyon & Sheets, I'd be one happy camper. Cameron would probably have to go at that point, which would make me less happy, but I'd feel a heck of a lot better about the pitching. And, assuming Sheets is a 2 year deal, we would have no money committed long term, which is really the key for me.
  24. haha............I haven't actually seen Doug the last few times......just his wife, but I'm not sure I could hold it in if he said: "We're not really motivated to redo this shower at this time, and that". That would be the end of my company's relationship with the Melvins, because I'd lose it.
  25. I certainly didn't mean to blame DM, but I can see by the way I worded my original post that it seemed like was.
