  1. This is the double whammy. It removes a key player while creating opportunities for a bad one. Could be worse, look at what happened to the White Sox.
  2. This is pretty much how I feel. I certainly didn't mean to start a flame war, and hadn't seen this discussion previously (pretty new here), so I apologize. I won't bring it up again, as no one is going to change anyone else's mind, and I certainly won't bring it up in an IGT.
  3. It's not that I don't think they can handle it, they're pros, I'm sure they can. It's just such a tool thing to do. adfasxasdf d
  4. Anybody booing during or after that inning should be ashamed of themselves. As good as Bush has been the last two months and as good as this team has been, seriously, shut up.
  5. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that was the case with Ray King last year. They definitely could do that, but I wouldn't look for such a player to have much impact.
  6. I just wish Colorado was looking for a young outfielder with upside instead of a young pitcher with upside because Brian Fuentes would make me feel a heck of a lot better. The bullpen is still the weak link by far and will cost us in the end I fear. I would also call Walt Jocketty and see about David Weathers since he's already cleared waivers. The problem there, as was pointed out, is what roster move is made? All that being said, I don't see a move being made.
  7. That would be pretty sweet, if unlikely. I do think the Brewers have a shot at Sheets, however. They could then deal Bush for other assets. Sheets/Gallardo/Cain/Parra/Suppan would also be the rotation of a contender.
  8. That was my thought as well. I wouldn't mind seeing him with the Dodgers or the Giants. We don't see them much, plus LA's pick will likely be 17-20ish. From everything I've read, it would seem that he prefers the west coast, and those are the only two west coast teams that make any sense.
  9. The Cardinals are playing tonight like I expected them to play all season.
  10. I know I just moved all my canned goods to my basement.
  11. Yeah, the reasoning hinged on them signing Sabathia and trying to contend next year (both stretches, admittedly). Apparently there is speculation that SF is CC's first choice since he's from there. A lot of dominoes would have to fall for this to make sense for the Giants. As has been pointed out, however, Sabean is a little goofy. I mean, how much sense did the Rowand signing make knowing that the team would be pretty terrible for a minimum of two years (likely Rowand's last 2 effective seasons), not to mention the Zito abomination.
  12. 1. Aramis Ramirez---if he were a Brewer, I'd hate him. Can't put it any more succinctly than that. 2. Bill Hall---seriously, Billy, you hit the ball hard once a month.........run, dummy!! 3. Jim Edmonds---for the reasons others have mentioned. 4. Ivan Rodriguez---your day is coming you cheater.
  13. I agree. I would not have guessed a year ago that a Cain/Hardy discussion would be even remotely realistic, but JJ's value is really quite high. I think if the FO is really committed to Escobar, very good value could be had for JJ. Gallardo/Cain/Parra/Bush/Soup really isn't bad at all, and payroll would be down. Obviously Gallardo/Cain don't replace CC/Sheets, but with improvement from Parra, the staff would still be quite good. Plus 4 comp picks.
  14. I was just over at MLBTR and there was some discussion of a deal like this. Most seemed to think this was fair for both teams, while some Giants posters suggested Sanchez +. What do you guys think? Personally I would love to get Cain. I'd hate to see JJ go, but Escobar is ready. Not sure if the Giants would bite, but JJ is a top 10 ss.
  15. While I agree that the position switches have not helped, I have no idea how that conclusion can be reached. Bill Hall is a horrible player right now and has been all year. He's a terrible hitter as well as being a terrible fielder (again, management moving him leads to this). I really don't see how you can play him in any meaningful situation right now. He's the Mota of the everyday guys.
  16. Nice of Coop to sit Wigginton. The guy's been on fire.
  17. You are a sick puppy. Even though I was 90 percent sure that this was the Ryan Braun you were talking about, that 10 percent was enough to get me worried.
  18. Maybe nobody cares about this, but Hart making the all-start team was BBTN's lead story. Cool. Only problem is, one of the highlights in the montage was JJ Hardy. Now, I know this isn't necessarily a big deal, but wouldn't you feel a little slighted if you were Corey? Am I overreacting?
  19. Section 119 row 5 Most I ever spent on tickets. I was just so giddy, I clicked best available.
  20. I'm thrilled with the trade as I've stated, but I just can't wait until the Brewers are down a run in the 9th inning, the pitcher's spot is on deck, Ned looks down his bench and only sees Counsell available and tells CC to get his bat. It WILL happen, and I can't wait for it.
  21. I think A39's silence is deafening on that score. Unfortunately.
  22. Agree with your first 2 points, and just spent $100 for a ticket for a 4 year old on Tuesday. I guess you could say I'm excited.
  23. Crud. I'm torn. Would be really really happy to get CC, but very sad to see Green go (and LaPorta, of course, but that seems necessary). Always been a Cain fan as well, but doubt he has a future here.
