  1. Not really. I posted this when he was traded. My post was also quoted later with an "A-freakin'-men." By me. I have approximately 1000 posts here, and at least 20 of them were about how unhappy I was that K-Rod was a Brewer. A woman abuser is a piece of trash no matter what uniform he wears. I distinctly remember you being in that same camp. My question is why that song is even in the system at Wrigley. Is there an appropriate time to celebrate violence against women? It almost seems as if this guy was making some sort of statement on his own. Which he went about extremely poorly if that was the case.
  2. I would be happy with any of those 4 along with about 5 other guys.
  3. You know exactly what will happen. He'll behave exactly like he did in Milwaukee and they'll discuss how he's changed and learned the "Cardinal Way". And he'll. 330/.380/.600 the rest of the year. #pixiedust
  4. I was going to say the same thing.
  5. I don't have access to teams' 2012 top 92 lists, but I'd be willing to bet that the Brewers would be in about the 20th percentile with regard to total WAR amassed from like lists. Not the be-all end-all, but certainly a barometer. The story is also incomplete, so there's that. I don't see a whole lot of productivity yet to come from our group though. There's like 6 or 8 real major league players there and none of them are particularly good.
  6. That list is putrid. 2012 Texas Rangers top 10 prospects: TOP TEN PROSPECTS 1. Yu Darvish, rhp 2. Jurickson Profar, ss 3. Martin Perez, lhp 4. Mike Olt, 3b 5. Leonys Martin, of 6. Neil Ramirez, rhp 7. Cody Buckel, rhp 8. Jorge Alfaro, c 9. Christian Villanueva, 3b 10. Rougned Odor, 2b Just for comparison's sake.
  7. I've made my guess already, but my hope is Taveras. Super-toolsy, young outfielder. Christian Guerrero type. Not sure if blue.
  8. I'll say Yeyson Yrizzari. He's Young and he plays up the middle. Sounds like a Stearns guy.
  9. Saw rluzinski in the title. Thought I hit a time warp. I would be looking hard at trading Villar this winter were I Stearns. I don't see his value ever being higher
  10. Eh. Maybe. Just because you and a lot of services think he's the best answer (I agree btw), doesn't mean our front office does.
  11. Not true. Demuth and Davis had good seasons this year. Cooper last year. And plenty of others over the years. Again, yes, power numbers will be down. But plenty of guys had good seasons in the past. Cooper is the only righty in the bunch though. That park sure seems murderous on right-handed hitters. Davis is switch, but therefore 70% left-handed. It seems like it can be done, but pretty rare.
  12. I can't speak for anyone else, but I never wanted a bunch of lower prospects. I wanted 2 big guys and a flyer from anyone. I said many times on the Cleveland discussion that I wanted Frazier/Zimmer and McKenzie. Not what we got. Related, I don't think Jeffress was worth much.
  13. The Khris Davis angst always kills me. .290 OBP. Terrible defense. 100/15 k/bb. Nottingham's bat can play at 1b if it develops as well. It seems unlikely he'll be a catcher at this point, but even at 1b, he could be a nice player for us. As far as the catching situation goes, I think Susac is going to be involved as at least a platoon player as early as September and going through next year. I think they're going to give him every opportunity to win and keep that job.
  14. Wow, thanks again! Regarding the last paragraph, if Stearns knows who he prefers but is going to let the Rangers assume the injury risk through the end of the season do you think that suggests he has a pitcher in mind as his top selection? Not exactly. What I know if that the list of 4 that went to Stearns last night was (in order of priority) 1. Yohander Mendez 2. Ronald Guzman 3. Pedro Payano 4. Ariel Jurado This deal is a grand slam for me if Mendez is the ptbnl. I'd be very happy with any of those guys if that's the list. And thanks a lot for sharing all of this with us.
  15. He's a really good outfielder and he isn't having a career year. He's having a normal year. He plays in that cavernous park. He's a 120 OPS+ type guy with well above average defense. Injury history is definitely not good though.
  16. I want Suter up just so I don't have to look at him on clancyphiles top 25 list anymore.
  17. Mendez Taveras Guzman Jurado Martin In that order for me. Any of those guys would be fantastic. Then there's 6 or 7 other guys I'd be happy with too. Of course I was thrilled before I even knew there was a ptbnl, so........
  18. Thanks for posting. I'm really excited about the projectability of both pitchers. Big guys who bring heat and seemingly have excellent command for being pretty young. The system was in good shape before today, but I was a little worried about projectable arms. I still am, but a lot less than I was yesterday.
  19. I mean, if you look at Lewis Brinson's stats and video and come to the conclusion that he's "a somewhat injury prone .240 hitter who strikes out", that's on you. I think you're taking it to the other extreme.
  20. ? Pretty darn good discussion if you ask me. You must have just skipped all the posts calling other posters stupid or saying "you don't understand baseball" and calling Stearns an idiot. There aren't any posts like that in this thread. Must've been deleted.
  21. Yep. I don't think Jeffress was that valuable tbh. That k/9 # is very worrisome imo. He's still a quality reliever and also important, not a rental with multiple more years of team control. That said, Stearns seems the type who will constantly mine every avenue possible to keep acquiring relief pitchers on the cheap. Agree that he's still a very good pitcher. Groundball % has to be a big plus in Texas. I just wonder how he was valued. Never likely to know.
  22. Been hurt all year. It's not a plus, that's for sure. If he was replicating last year, it wouldn't matter anyway because we never could've gotten him.
