  1. ok, just got back from Best Buy. ah, reset. had no idea that could be done. Problem: the USB port wouldn't recognize the iPod, and the iPod just plain wouldn't turn on. Solution: reset the stupid thing. how to reset: hold down the center button and the menu button until an apple appears. release, you'll see another apple, and it'll turn back on. so i checked out Best Buy for some iPod accessories i might want, since i no longer hated my iPod. then i saw the prices. i again hate the iPod.
  2. Well in that case Chris Paul = greatest basketball player of all time, since he's led the Hornets to the 3rd best record in the NBA all by himself. oops. i guess my knowledge of the NBA is clearly evident there.
  3. anyone considered New Orleans? during a pretty horrible time for everyone, they lose all pro sports for a year, the Saints hit a small playoff run but have been generally miserable. and Chris Paul is pretty awesome, but they're still four starters short on the basketball team. although you wonder if you might have to give a little more consideration to cities that have more major sports teams in the area. I mean yeah, the White Sox had their WS, but considering the number of teams in the area, that city has been pretty bad. I certainly won't do the work, but i wonder if you could look at it mathematically, say over a 15-year span of time (roughly one generation sports-wise): (Number of Pro Teams x Number of Years out of Playoffs) / 0.15= Misery Percentage
  4. Captain Crunch is good for a Saturday morning when you've got a half hour to let the things soak in the milk first, kinda like Grape Nuts. Grape Nuts are awesome, don't get me wrong, but man they give the jaw a workout. a year ago I found Boo Berries in the grocery store. excited and nostalgic I bought like six boxes, just in case it was a temporary run or something. yeah, that was a mistake. Cookie Crisp is the best cereal in the world that nobody really buys anymore.
  5. I couldn't personally put Cleveland on the Best list because they're probably still stinging a little from that midnight move to Baltimore. Chicago for the worst list? The Cubs have had some stinging playoff losses, the Bulls haven't been watchable since Jordan left, and the Blackhawks are the biggest jokes in professional sports. oh wait, the White Sox. nevermind. Philadelphia?
  6. funny, i was just just starting to wonder if that could be a problem. still, a cord going bad is sure an odd problem. don't know if there's an apple store around by me, but at the very least a $10 cable would sure be easier on me than a new iPod. thanks a ton for the advice, i'll try it tomorrow and hopefully you're right. funny, a good friend of mine swears by the refurbished iPods, but my refurb one has just been a problem. amazing all of you guys who can fill up a huge iPod. i have a 4 Gig and still haven't maxed out on space yet. i'm kinda particular about which songs go in it, though, so i don't have to spend all my time hitting "next". Edit: i'll still try your suggestion, but my iPod had just been recharged, so shouldn't it at least turn on, even if the cable isn't any good?
  7. sure, the dude is smart, but what's his favourite colour?
  8. as long as we're on the topic, just today my iPod stopped registering in my USB port. it was working fine this morning. it just won't turn on. tried it at work and nothing. tried it in the rear USB ports and nothing. so it's not the port or iTunes or anything. i just ran a virus scan and that didn't matter, either. so it's the iPod itself. any suggestions? if I've got to pay $50 to have Best Buy fix it it'd probably make more sense to just buy another one. to the original post just so i don't completely bogart this thread, I've done that before, just create a ton of playlists and sync specific ones that fit with what I want to do (work vs. gym vs. hiking, etc.).
  9. that this site is able to maintain three separate beer-related threads i think is pretty awesome. man i miss Wisconsin.
  10. i don't know, that whole Verizon guy having a baby is pretty annoying, the whole way they think we care enough about this dude to want to see the whole thing play out into a string of human-drama commercials. also, i can't say i'm secure enough in my masculinity at this point to go up to a counter and say "yes, i'd like the Chocolate phone, please."
  11. we should have put Hannah Montana on a timer to see if her career will last as long as her father's. what's with these $15 Hannah Montana concerts they're putting on at movie theatres? is she taping a concert and then kids shell out money to watch it in a movie theater? really?
  12. this is a first for me on this thread, but i WISH i was drunk tonight.
  13. no doubt. i think if him and Dick Vitale ever came within two feet of each other the world would explode.
  14. gym girl has a boyfriend yet compliments me all the time. amazing woman at the bar leaves and i don't get to talk to her. i told someone the right bets to make this week and win three of four, but don't bet myself. my bank wants to disown me. it's cold even in North Carolina. Bears fan i meet at the bar says he roots for Favre when he's not playing Chicago, then waits for a return comment from me, which i can't give. my coffee-maker exploded on me this morning. my job review is coming up soon. i jokingly told a dude i fell asleep at work on Friday (i have a very boring job), then come to find out he knows my boss. i have coffee but no whiskey, so it's pointless. and then this. if i have a heart attack later tonight i can only see that as a step in the right direction.
  15. you gotta wear a suit in the whirlpool? i disagree. although i agree with you otherwise. what's with dudes who choose to stand at the mirror and dry their hair or something first? dang, put some shorts on at least. yeah it's a locker room, but it's also not your home bathroom. also, don't start a conversation with me until you've put something on, that's just not cool.
  16. I have absolutely nothing to contribute right now, even on a thread that asks for "pointless" comments.
  17. i don't like the mixes for whiskey sours, but whiskey, Squirt and a lemon is my favourite. well, that and pretty much anything else.
  18. I played beer pong (or whatever the technical name of it is again) at a party this summer. except I'm 30 now, possibly the oldest person there. pretty sure I had no business being at that party or playing pong for that matter. However, my Wisconsin genes kicked in and I rocked flip-cup. funny thing was, the people only put a single mouthful of beer in the cup and not a full cup. doesn't that eliminate an entire dimention of the game, the ability to down large quantities of beer very quickly? In short time I started filling my cup at least half-way, regardless of everyone else taking sips. I was still faster. It's a great feeling being an All-Star on your flip-cup team, being shifted around to flip-cup cleanup and everything.
  19. last night was my first experience of uncomfortably passing by an ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend in a bar (by myself or with a dude friend in the past, which is a sucky feeling). But this time my arm was around a girl who honestly could have been a magazine model. i never knew how freeing a feeling that could be. the model isn't my girlfriend, either, but she let me borrow her for five minutes.
  20. the results are in: two bottles of wine and only a minor hangover this morning. i may have become a convert from beer.
  21. gosh, this thread almost made it to Page 3. i'm not sure if that's sad or good.
  22. I like beer a lot better than I like wine, yet wine gives me a cooler buzz and beer only gives me a headache. Is it possible that I become a wine drinker instead?
  23. also, smoking is apparently hard to quit. almost ironic that it's hard to stop something that has absolutely zero benefits, physically or socially. I have yet to meet the smoker who actually enjoys smoking.
  24. After some research into the matter, I've been finding that Internet dating websites still do not compare to actually going outside and meeting people on your own.
  25. all right, so I'm guessing you've already tried this...
