  1. so i don' t mix up which families, i'll go with older idea and newer idea. the newer idea side seems to just want to do something big, not specifically Disneyland, but it was the first and obvious thing that came to mind. The older idea side has been dreaming of this for a long time, so that would seem to hold at least some weight. however the latest offer by the other side should be pressure enough to get the other side to stop dragging their feet (not meant in a derogatory way). it's been a dream, so now it's time to buy the tickets, or else the newer side will. knee bad? they'll have those motorized chairs available for her to use with a heads up, no problem. this way the older side at least is given the first option to realize this dream. if they get the tickets, then thank the newer idea side for wanting to do something big and work together to think of a Plan B. if the newer side just can't get the tickets at this time, at the very least they couldn't be quite as upset if they were at least given the first opportunity to go. am i right in assuming the newer idea side just wants to do something big for the family and not definitely-specifically Disneyland?
  2. since when did the Price is Right become this huge and magical show that all these stars were interested in hosting? i can't imagine someone with actual talent would want to spend his days watching some random crazy lady play Plinko. That said, Drew Carey seems perfect for the gig.
  3. anyone else counting the time until Hall comes back by the hour?
  4. you'd have to really stretch to knock Jenkins about the numbers he has put up in his career. and apart from a little stubbornness this past offseason (reasonably understandable), he's been nothing short of a team player. his loyalty to stick with the Brewers through some atrocious teams is commendable. that said, I'd only see Jenks staying in Milwaukee next year if we declined his option then he took a deep pay cut, which won't happen. if he goes to an AL team next year, i hope he wins the Championship. i'll certainly stand and applaud him when he shows up at MP in an opposing jersey.
  5. didn't even know he was injured, thanks. it will really be interesting to follow him in the AFL, and I'll take his progress there as a sign of how fast he might move up the system in 08.
  6. it's still entirely likely that Weeks is still playing a little hurt because of his wrist. the usual diagnosis is that he'd still have some problems this year but be ok next. we've never really seen him play at 100% healthy. any other GM would grab Weeks in a heartbeat if we sold low on him right now, because he's still an awesome talent despite what he's shown this year. in two or three years we're going to be very happy we held onto Weeks.
  7. i don't think Wynegar and Maddux compare at all. the hitters never seemed to progress under Wynegar and we were consistently near the bottom in a lot of categories. Maddux has proven himself that he can turn people around like a DD and Turnbow. overall, i think in Maddux's tenure, most of our pitchers have really overachieved because of his teaching.
  8. yeah, if not mid-season, there's some pretty good off-season fodder there. not guys who are great, but some pretty good second-tier help, which isn't anything to scoff at. plus people like Aquino, Gross and Nix are still rising ability-wise.
  9. who's the guy who's got the Brant Brown avatar? every time i see it i laugh.
  10. i'm so happy you found that Norm clip from Conan. i remember watching that night and i've never laughed harder. before she came out he was a riot, too.
  11. it helps when pauly shore's mom owns the Laugh Factory. he got instantly connected. MacDonald did another movie after Dirty Work with Dave Chappelle, but it wasn't very good. i like his standup, though, and he was my favourite SNL Weekend Update host. but i heard he never prepared so they were always mad at him.
  12. at first i thought this was really great, that we have a politician who cares about his neighborhood that he would get so riled up. then i saw all the people he CC'd, including the newspaper, and realized it was just a political ploy. either way, i'm closing all my letters like that from now on. Sincerely is so played out. Go to jail or the cemetery soon, game05
  13. i have those uber-passwords at work and have to change them frequently, too. it's not so much remembering the new password, but remembering where i hid the post-it note that i wrote the new password on. i'm going to change my answer to get Hardy to break out of his drought. it seems this team does best when the top three guys in the order are playing well over the bottom three. not that i don't want him to do well, but i also can't vote for Weeks because a lot of his great hitting would then be negated by the pitcher.
  14. Bio-Dome, huh? that might have even been the best of the lot. i've seen Encino Man and Son-In-Law, and i think those were even worse. I haven't seen Pauly Shore is Dead yet, but i think i've learned my lesson.
  15. Beerfest is its total equal. Dirty Work is a good idiot comedy (not meant to be an insulting term, just descriptive. i like a good idiot comedy, too). Artie Lang is even in it. Surf School is new on video in that category and is absolutely wretched.
  16. awful movie. i know it wasn't meant to be great cinema or anything, but it was hardly watchable. even Ralph Macchio didn't save the movie.
  17. not Weeks. he'd waste his hotness as a bench player and wouldn't see enough time (bench player for now, anyway). I'll vote Braun. doing this for two months is too long to be a streak, so I'd to see what they baloon up to when he's actually on one. otherwise Jenkins. he's always carried the whole team on one of his streaks.
  18. I once worked at the Subway right near Camp Randall. Aaron Gibson came in a lot to get his double-meat BMT (why do I remember that?). His Escalade was the nicest ride parked in the dorm lot. Dude was obviously big, but he was a couple inches shorter than he was listed with the Badgers. I may have met other football players, but I wouldn't have recognized them. Most kids in my middle school would shoot rockets at Senator Feingold's house during science class. His house was right next door, and I was in school there during his first campaign when he wrote all his campaign promises on his garage door.
  19. Florida totally overworks Willis. he's Kerry Wood waiting to happen.
  20. i never thought a major-leaguer could be a PTBNL. i'd always thought that if PTBNL was part of a trade, it couldn't be just anybody, but that it had to represent one lower-level prospect.
  21. well, that's what the video was titled, Anaconda spits up Hippo or something. i'm embarassed i didn't catch that myself, though. Cappybarra?
  22. I can do obscure, or at least obscure celebrity. saw Rick Steves on a plane coming back from Europe once. He does travel shows on PBS. I didn't try to talk to him because I was reading a book, but my father sat next to the cameraman. And yes, stored somewhere in the house now, is Rick Steves' cameraman's autograph.
  23. funny you posted that because i just signed up for a myspace page last night, just because a few other people i know have one. sorta feel like deleting it now.
  24. tune in to hear Melvin's scathing tirade against internet bloggers.
  25. it's been a long time since espn hired a legitimate reporter. unless Jon Kruk counts, of course.
