I will always be wondering about Embiid until that shakes out. Still, it's hard not to be excited about Parker and the fact he actually wants to play in Milwaukee. Funny, I was thinking the same thing as Patrick- KJ McDaniels at 31 and Spencer Dinwiddle at 36. This French kid may end up being worth the pick, seems like they could have got him later in the round but those are the things you never know for sure. I really wanted them to have two picks who could play right away and have significant roles, so that part is dissapointing. Kept waiting for a trade up into the 1st, but never happened. This roster is not set I'm sure, they have 9 forwards. Now my #1 wish is somehow dumping Mayo's contract.

Maybe the robot first baseman could have sensors along the outside stitching of the glove that would create a vortex. At the exact moment the ball passes through the vortex, the data can instantly be compared to the robot runner's shoe touching the base- which would also have sensors. I'm sure all of that would work perfectly. Now if I could only get my toaster to work properly..... -

Why don't we just play the games on xbox, and take humans out of it altogether. Build profiles for each player, and let xbox play out the season and determine the champion. -
The Number One Flaw With Replay

#1 flaw in replay is that it doesn't work. #1a flaw is that it ruins the enjoyment of the game. We've all seen calls that are reviewed, and they still get it wrong. Not just on rare occasion, but pretty consistently. Why? They hang their hat on the old "need overwhelming evidence to overturn" or whatever they call it. What really bother me though is that it sucks the fun out of the game. That instant reaction you get after a great play is now muted. Braun guns someone at 3rd...wait...don't get excited...wait for the review. I hate that. I really hate it. With 162 games, you will have some calls go against you, some for you. It evens out. Baseball is played by humans. Players make mistakes. Managers make mistakes. And yes, umpires make mistakes. Accept that and move on. For those of you (most of you) who like replay, let me ask you this. Why does it matter to get a close play at 1B right, when balls/strikes have a much bigger impact on the game every night, yet that can't be reviewed. This selective approach to what can/ can't be reviewed doesn't solve anything. It just slows down the game, dulls the excitement, and really isn't fair since the reviews are still subjective- just like the call on the field. I could live with limited replay in the playoffs. Would be horrible for the game for a team to lose the WS on a blown HR call, play at the plate, etc. But that's it. -
This is what they have been doing for most of the season. Smith has pitched partial innings in almost half his appearances, and plenty of people complained when he brought in Kintzler or Thornburg to face righties instead of sticking with Smith or Duke. Now that Smith has slid into a more traditional setup role RR doesn't know how to play matchups. The poor guy can't catch a break. Personally I think he's done a great job managing the pen. Yes and no. RR has gone to situational match-ups in the 8th, but mainly because there is no option right now for an 8th inning guy. To start the year Henderson was that guy, ever since he has tried to "force" Kintzler into that role. I have no problem with an 8th inning guy if he a lock-down type of guy. They just don't have that now. Smith is the closest, but if the opposing team has 3 RH hitters due up, he's not the best option. I do think RR is basically handling the pen the right way these days, my concern is he will continue trying to force someone into the 8th inning role when it's really not necessary.

Love the way Scoot and Krush shook off a horrible day at the plate yesterday. Had their 4 hours sleep and came back today on a mission. So simple, swing at strikes, don't swing at balls.

Yes, but Cleveland could shock again and still take Embiid. Also, one of the top 3 picks may really want Exum. Personally, I think the value of this draft is the depth- not who's on top. That's why I really hope at least some of the rumors are true about the Bucks acquiring more picks in the 1st.

Well, not to start a whole OT debate here, just stating fact. Wang will take one of those spots. I don't care too much about Kintzler/Wooten/Henderson, as long as one of them aren't forced into the 8th inning role. Would love to see Thornburg get back to his April form, that would be huge. Like most bullpens there will be shuffling around, as long as they have it straightened out for the pennant run. With 3 capable LHP, I don't think they need an 8th inning guy- they can go with matchups. But I don't think RR's manual allows for that.

I do think it's funny we're all falling for the rumors again. Did anyone know Cleveland was taking Bennett #1 last year? No. So we hear Cleveland waanted Embiid, Parker tanks workout, they don't want him now. Philly really wants Wiggins. I could go on and on. Every year, in every draft, in every sport there are rumors, miss-direction by the teams, etc. And we buy it all. Why? It's something to read, sources "seem" reputable. Just realize at least half of what we read and hear is either not ture, or put out there for a purpsoe by the team involved.

Exactly. In fact, if we can barely hit .200 in high A ball, how is he going to hit .200 in MLB? He is barely on my radar to tell you the truth. Saw enough of him last, and not impressed. Sure, he can come around but I'm just not real optimistic.

You say that likes it a given Wiggins would stay after 5 years if they're winning. Why? He may very well want out of town no matter what. I don't know that's the case, but that's the type of thing you have to take into account. I get what you're saying about Parker being a complacency pick. Part of me agrees with you on that. Then again, I keep hearing the "experts" say he can step in and score 20 a game immediately. Do you know how many guys averaged 20 a game in the NBA last year? Only 15. I could work with that.

Of course, there's always the possibility Philly is pulling everyone's leg. Any GM, organization, etc. in any sport doesn't like to show their hand. Same thing with Cleveland and Embiid. A story gets floated and then passed around, and we all buy it. So, as always, we have no idea. We certainly had no clue who Cleveland took #1 overall last year right?

But it does matter if you expect this pick to be the cornerstone of the franchise for 10+ years. Honestly, this does not matter a bit. You need to acquire the best talent and make it work. Some of these guys won't be around in a year or two anyhow. Depending on matchups, etc. Parker/Wiggins and Giannis can be on the floor at the same time plenty. Not to mention they need to sub in and out. Lots of minutes to go around.

The more I think about this, have a feeling Bucks take Parker- whether that's with the #2 or #3 pick. Wojo is in town now, seems like a guy who won't be any trouble off the court, etc. I have mixed feelings about this, because all the intangibles do make sense. At the same time, would like to see someone with a higher celing like Wiggins/Exum.

First time in I don't know how long I'm perfectly comfortable with the line-up. Including how 2B platoon is used. As RoCo says, ride this as long as it's working. When Segura is the #8 hitter, things are going pretty well. I could see him flipping with Reynolds if he heats up, but either way is fine.

Brewers have handled it well. I was thinking no retaliation tonight, until I realized Garza is starting so it's possible. Not that I really care, but seems to me Gibson should be suspended and more than just a couple games. He went on a rant months ago about how he's going to hit Braun every chance he has. Then he DOES have him hit- and celebrates it. I don't know how you get more blatant than that. If MLB doesn't want this as part of the game, perfect chance to act with a significant suspension here. -
Ratterree and Brennan are two guys I'm keeping an eye on. Saw it early with Ratterree, now his numbers are finally showing what I saw in him. Brennan has some real power too. Jason Rogers is my other guy. Not sure if he can put it all together, but it's possible.

It doesn't matter if you're the Cubs. Or winning the division by a landslide. But this race looks like it will go down to the wire. If Fiers gets you 3 more wins than Estrada, it makes a huge difference. With Nelson it may make an even bigger difference.
