  1. Can't wait for Top 20 2.0, I will begin the campaign for my man crush Ratterree to make the list.
  2. I've said it before, but thanks again for providing this service. What a great resource to find everything you need in one topic. I look at all the box scores daily, along with the feature stories, game stories, etc. As others have said, the weather is about the only thing I don't read. If it wasn't so convenient the way you put this together, I highly doubt I would spend the time every day clicking through MiLB's site and other sources to find all this information.
  3. My favorite part is Wainright started the Jeter stuff himself, then sounded shocked and amused that anyone would ask him about it. Pretty much insinuated the media started the controversy.
  4. 1) Stay healthy 2) Time to role with guys that produce. No more using Kintzler in the 8th (or at all) because he did it last year (as an example) Zach Duke is a guy not even mentioned as a possible 8th inning guy, yet his numbers are almost identical LHB vs RHB. He has quietly had every bit as good a first half as Smith. 3) I agree, someone has to establish themselves as an ace down the stretch. Better yet, two guys. 4) Wild card factor. Someone has to have a huge bat down the stretch. Braun is the most likely candidate, but it could be Segura or Davis too. If the rest of the line-up is more or less the same, one guy on fire would make a big difference.
  5. I changed my mind. After Wainright's BS last night I want to beat them this year and every year. Thanks for jarring me back into reality everyone.
  6. I thought the whole season was rushed, with too many sub-plots going on. Terrorists, Russinas, and Chinese all packed into one day? Not to mention Chloe's shady hacking group, the chief of staff drama, President's health condition, trying to get the drone program passed on Parliment, it goes on and on. Just too much. Still, I thought it was a great season. Mostly because I have always loved the Bauer character, Chloe too. I think the problem I'm having is that it was on during the summer. If this was on in the fall/winter, somehow it would have been more enjoyable for me.
  7. Yea, I don't see him being a PG in the 1950s sense of the word. If he's on the court with Knight or Wolters, PG will be more of a shared role. I see Giannis matched up against the opponent's 2, and Knight/ Wolters/Bayless guaring the point. On offense it doesn't make as much difference. I wouldn't expect the other team to have their PG on Giannis. But even at that, yea, I see him having more turnovers at guard, if you call it PG or not. That's ok though, I want to see the ball is his hands more.
  8. What I learned from summer league: - Giannis was more aggressive. He wanted the ball, that is a great sign. Jumper continues to improve. I was starting to think the hype was greater than his ability, but I remind myself he's still so young. - OBryant can give you some solid minutes. Very comforable in the post, and he has a nice little 12 foot jumper too. - Wolters looks about the same, need to see more. - Parker. Needs to work on his jumper, that's the biggest thing I noticed. I think it's hard to really see what he will be both this year and long term playing with all that crap around him. At this point in his career asking him to be the man on nearly every possession is a lot to ask. I think he will look better with the court spread with actual NBA players surrounding him.
  9. Precisely. The fact that nobody agrees with me tells me I'm on to something. Contrarians are often mocked, yet often end up being right. Look, I know the Brewers aren't going to trade a Gomez or Braun before the trade deadline. Doesn't mean they shouldn't. It's old thinking. Just like dismissing a 6 man rotation, or anything else that is contrary to the way things have been done in baseball for 100 years. Brewers have made the playoffs a couple times in recent year. It was a long wait, so that was a lot of fun. Enjoyed every minute of it. But now it's time to go for the rings. Only way that happens is to have 2 absolute stud startring pitchers, and a 3rd that's close to that. Some of you have said the best team doesn't always win the WS. True. But no team wins the WS without outstanding starting pitching. Three ways to get those arms. Develop them (which the Brewers have proven they can't do.) Sign a free agent (which the Brewers can't afford.) That leaves a trade. And the only way you get a true stud that is either in MLB or on the verge, is to trade a guy like Braun or Gomez. Sure, we can hope and pray that Peralta and/or Nelson can be legit aces. Or, you can shake things up and take a chance. I guess I'm all alone, and that's fine, but after 30 years I'm ready to try something else. I'll admit my post was provacative. I can see why they wouldn't do anything like this before the trade deadline, for all the reasons mentioned. But if not at the trade deadline, then they need to look at some of these moves during the hot stive league. Either way, quit the fence-straddling. If you want to go for it, put a package together for Price and be done with it. Of course that would mean giving up Nelson and others. But at least it's a legitimate attempt to win it all.
  10. True. But it also produced Fielder, Braun, Hart, Hardy, Yo, and probably someone else I'm forgetting. I guess I would take 6 years of that level of talent for Gomez and Zach Duke.
  11. Which I specifically said I wouldn't do. "sell just to sell."
  12. Why would trading say, Gomez, Yo, and Duke (for example) equal some sort of massive rebuilding for the next 3 years? I don't understand why/how that makes the Brewers a 60 win team with no chance at the playoffs for the next 3 years. Leading the division is fools gold. Making the playoffs is fine, but it's not good enough anymore. If you want to see a legitimate run for a World Series, we need a better rotation. Once again, I'm not talking about trading Braun for 3 single A guys. I'm talking about trading a Braun or Gomez for a top 10 prospect. A "can't miss" stud starter. No such thing as can't miss? True. But also no guarantee Braun will ever be 100% healthy either. Or than Gomez won't become a .230 hitter overnight within the next couple years. But if you guys really believe Yo, Lohse, Garza can win 2-3 playoff series...good luck with that. I much rather put all my chips in a pot I can win.
  13. A post of mine from Transaction/Proposals thread: Hasn't received any reaction yet, probably because people I meant to put this in blue. But it was no mistake, I didn't mean it tongue-and-cheek. This is still a good baseball team. With Henderson and/or Thornburg coming back, Jeffress is the wings, possible trade, etc. they could really bolster the bullpen. If they do that, they sill could make the playoffs. But that is by no means a given. There are 8 legit teams in the NL vying for 5 spots. Even if they do get it, does the Brewers 3 man playoff roatation match up with the other contenders. No. No way. Not even close. Instead of applying a couple bad-aids, trading away depth you don't have in the system to make a playoff run, take advantage of the situation and trade some asssets and build the system up- especially at the higher levels of the system. Some of those guys are easier to move than others. I'm not proposing dealing a Braun, Gomez, Yo, or Lohse just for the sake of doing it. But if someone is willing to part with their top prospect and a couple others for say...Gomez, I would pull the trigger if the deal is right. We need a 1B, 3B, maybe a SS, and two starting pitchers better than anyone in the rotation today. (Peralta and/or Nelson could develop into that role, but they're not there yet.) Bottom line, I would rather have 6 years from a couple/few high level prospects at this point than a small chance of making a legitimate run in the playoffs this year.
  14. There's a few moves they could make. See what you can get for Yo, Braun, Ramirez, KRod, Duke, Gorz, Maldy, Overbay, Reynolds, Weeks. Would even listen to a deal for Lohse or Gomez.
  15. They won't. They'll wait for Henderson's velocity to come back. If it doesn't, they'll wait for Thornburg. I would bring up Fiers and Jeffress yesterday. Of course the 8th inning guy doesn't matter if you enter the 8th every night down 4-1....
  16. We're planning a trip to Europe next year. Problem is, she really wants to go to England, while I want to visit Italy. Then to complicate things even more, I would maybe want to travel from Italy through Austria and Switzerland up into Germany. So, we go back and forth. We like to see the tourist stuff when we travel, so we also like to just hang around ang get a feel for an area. If we extend the trip to all these countries I fear we'll lose out on that. To be continued...
  17. Also, people in WI don't know how to merge. Can't tell you how many times I almost had an accident because someone came flying onto the highway from an on-ramp expecting me to magically move out of the way. Hey, Wisconsinites, when you merge it is up to YOU to safely merge onto the highway.
  18. I meant they wouldn't be taking on any more. As in, there's no way they'd do that trade. Ok, got it. Pretty much what I figured. As with most proposed trades, you have to ask yourself if we don't want player x, why would anyone else? There are teams out there that really like Irsan though, not sure the Suns are one of them. Maybe Middleton? Dirt cheap guy that's on the rise, he may have some value. Seems like nothing is going to happen until LeBron signs, and the dminos fall frm there. This is another test for the Bucks though, they should put the offer on the table for Bledsoe yesterday. Be a player, put the pressure on instead of reacting all the time.
  19. Small sample size, don't read too much into it. Wife is gone so I can add 30 or 40 brilliant insights/ inane drivel.
  20. Isn't there a name for those dust storms? Like huhot or something?
