  1. Awful. There's a reason there are rumors Love won't be in Minnesota much longer. It's because he can opt out of the final year of his contract and look to sign somewhere in California or New York. So it's Love for 1 year and dropping 11 spots in the draft. Horrible value. You're right, of course. Obviously any trade like that would have to include a new long term contract with Love...
  2. The other advantage of having Green and Morris around is having a PH with some pop. It's nice to have that feeling in a close game that one swing couldput you in the lead in the late innings. Face it, right now nobody off the bench gives you that, except maybe Maldy. Quite honestly, for that reason I would rather have Brock Kjeldgaard on the bench over Overbay. It's now or never mode right now for Green, Gindl, Morris. What's frustrating is that some of these guys were blocked in previous seasons. There's nothing blocking them now, except for the baseball handbook the Brewers use that clearly states: Sect 7 Paragraph 3d: Roster must include gritty veterans, regardless of production.
  3. A lot of people are, but they're not very funny....
  4. Just an example, but what if Bucks get Kevin Love and Wolves 13 for the Bucks #2 pick? Maybe make them take Mayo off our hands in the deal too. Lots of rumors Love won't be in MN much longer. Something similar to that would be worth considering, in my opinion. Or, if MN suddenly needs a replacement, trade Sanders for their 13th pick. Can always sweeten the deal a little. Bucks have a lot of chips to play, they need to look at all options. I'm a realist though as far as the #2 pick goes, I don't think there's any way they give it up.
  5. This stuff about a four player superstar draft is an invention by ESPN and all the other media and internet mock drafts that all feed off each other. Nobody knows if Exum is at an elite level. Many doubt if Parker is. Trust me, there are other players in this drafy who will be playing in an All Star game, and at least 1 of the top 4 won't. This draft is simply not as top heavy as is being presented. It just looks that way because the mock drafts have had these guys at the top for months. They may well deserve to be there, but it doesn't mean other guys are a full step down from that- or even a step down at all.
  6. I've been thinking about this, and am now looking at this a different way. Embiid is the clear #1. I'm hearing all the GMs pretty much feel the same way, we're just hearing the normal mis-direction from Cleveland and other GMs. His back has been llooked at my 1,000 doctors by mow, and everyone was amazed by his individual workouts. You can't teach 7'0" and you can't teach athleticism. Drop off at the true center postion is pretty large. Is he Hakeem? That's not fair to put that label on him. But he will be the #1 pick, no doubt in my mind. So then you have Wiggins and Parker. Trade down if you can. Very tough for the Bucks to do, they need the PR of a #2 pick, and I get that. But ideally, I would trade down. I just don't think there's a big drop-off through the entire lottery. We're so used to seeing this pecking order for months now, but there are some really good players in this draft that really aren't much different at all than Wiggins/Parker in terms of talent and potential. If you saw James Young in the tourney, hard to see the difference between him and Wiggins (just an example.) Would getting Vanleh or Gordan be so bad? I could go on and on. If they stick at 2, Wiggins is the pick. He has the same floor as Parker, but a higher ceiling. Not to mention he actually plays defense.
  7. I don't think Davis should be sent down or platooned. At least not yet. His spilts last year were VERY close. This year there is a wide gap, but it's just too early. Overall, he was at .949 last year, .649 this year. IF the truth is in the middle, I'll take it. They dealt Aoki and moved Braun to give Davis a chance to play FT, we need to give him at least until the All Star break. Davis, like Segura, has shown signs of being a better hitter than he has been this season. Segura was red hot 1st half last year, then really cooled down until recently. Both need to adjust as opposing pitchers have adjusted. Only way to cure that is ABs. Especially since platooning with Schafer isn't exactly adding a whole lot. Schafer is the ideal backup OF. Very good defense, can play all 3 positions, PH against RHP, and late game defensive replacement. RR finally did what I've been suggesting for a couple weeks now. Play Lucroy and Maldy together. PlayWeeks when he's hot. Beyond that, we need patience. If a bat is still needed a month from now, there is Morales and maybe a bat in LF can be acquired if Davis is still struggling. It's not impossible that ARam, Segura, and Davis can all heat up. If that happens along with Braun, Gomez, Lucroy the offense suddenly looks much better.
  8. Yea, basically what I was thinking. IF they are intent on keeping Wang for now. Cut Overbay and Bianchi, send Wooten down. Activate Gorzelanny and Henderson (when he's ready), bring up Green. I wouldn't mind giving Morris or Halton a shot either, but would lean towards Green. Basically because he's reaching the point of "now or never." Then when ARam comes back, you can send Green down. Or, if he's producing, time for another sore arm in the bullpen.
  9. Scooter plays vs RHP. Bianchi plays 3B while Ramirez is out. So it is written in RR manager's manual. I was starting to come around on RR, but how can he not see Weeks has been red hot and needs to stay in the line-up? Especially since scoring a run these days is a major event. Weeks should have started every game in the Cubs series, and for that matter Maldy should have been playing 1B, with Reynolds at 3B. Who knows if the results would have been any different, but at least try to field a line-up with some punch.
  10. I'm interested to see what they do with 3 2nd round picks, #1 next year, and various players they can move (Sanders, Sova, etc.) Hoping they can maneuver back into the middle of the 1st, and keep the first pick in the 2nd. That would give them 3 really good picks in a deep draft. Wish I felt great about Exum at #3 or #4, but other than seeing a couple video clips I know nothing about him.
  11. I don't count extra inning games. Those are 50/50. Hey, I like this. Let's not count games where the Brewers score less than 4 runs too. No, because you can win games by scoring less than 4 runs. But you can't win games in extra innings. Got it.

  13. When I predict a win early on they win. I'm 5 for 5 now in game threads. viewtopic.php?f=65&t=31184 Post 2 PrinceFielderx1: "We're going to win this game also." http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?id=340422108 Haha priceless. Too bad you can't find evidence about a claim he made about the Brewers going 89-1 in games he's attended. (Yes, I took a little liberty with his numbers.)
  14. Right. 13. Take away his 30 starts or so, and that's 13 PH in roughly 130 games. That's not using him enough as a PH, especially when other options are the likes of Herrera, Bianchi, Overbay. Maldy is the only guy on the bench that I feel could not only get a hit, but can actually drive it out.
  15. RR had both Lucroy and Madonado in the starting lineup yesterday, so I don't think he's to tethered to that. That's different. They're both in the game, so if the C goes down, the other can move behind the plate.
  16. Bench would look better if Maldy would be used as a PH every game. But that can't happen because the Manager's handbook says never use your backup catcher as a PH.
  17. Yea, even today didn't look sharp and got a quick hook. Velocity looks fine, maybe they noticed something has been off his last couple outings, so don't want to use him in tight situations unless they need to? At least until he gets it worked out. Not sure, but it definitely seems they're using him differently. All through April, RR would put him in every chance he could. Oh well, we'll see how this develops.
  18. Thanks for taking the time to do this reilly, interesting to see where these guys are. Also, amazing how many marginal (at best) players were on the 25 during these years.
  19. Probably nothing, but a little odd he hasn't pitched since 5/10. Two close games against Pitt, and he was never even up and getting loose. Went with Kintzler Tues in a spot they would normally use Thorny, so I raised an eyebrow but didn't read too much into that. But then last night they go to Smith again, Krod in the 9th, and Wooten warming up both before and during Krod's appearance. Has anyone heard anything about a sore shoulder or anything? Again, could be nothing, just found it odd he wasn't used or even getting loose in two straight close games on plenty of rest. Guess we'll find out today.
  20. I would go back to the 90s purple unis if the trade-off was OJ Mayo, Udoh, et.c weren't wearing them next year! How about having MKE on the road unis, similar to what ATL, OKC, (maybe others?) do? I think I would like that, would have to see the whole"look" though.
  21. No offense to anyone, but this conversation seems to keep reverting back to whether Fiers should be in the Brewers rotation, or should it be Nelson, or.. someone else. I have yet to see a good reason not to put Fiers in the Brewers pen, which was the OT. First, does anyone doubt he is better option than Wang, Wooten, and possibly Kintzler or Henderson? Secondly, AGAIN, I understand the reasoning behind keeping him strecthed out in Nashville. But there are other guys who could start (heck, even Mills coming up for a spot start would be fine.) So, essentially what some of you are saying is there seems to be a way to immediately improve the team TODAY, but don't do it because of a series of events MAY happen later this season? Sorry, I don't get that. Fiers is not young, nor will he pitch like Cy Young for much longer. Why not get the innings out of him NOW while his stuff is outstanding? Finally, any notion of trading him for anything of value whatsoever is wishful thinking in my opinion.
  22. Nelson is stretched out too, and is part of the long term plan. So why not bring up Fiers and use him out of the pen? I still don't see a downside here. I dont understand why youre having a tough time understanding why you keep stretched out players in rotation spots. Fiers already has MLB experience, Nelson doesnt, if you're in a bind you go with the one who has had some success in the majors before the unknown. if they needed a second SP called up im sure Nelson would get the nod. Except Nelson does have mlb experience, so?
