  1. Hah way to go Luc...another guy with an awful night at the plate. Cue the failed bunt attempt now
  2. Rock was right earlier when he used the word "ridiculous" to describe the Brewers bullpen. Time for the Brewers most unlikely hero- Khrush. After having about the worst night at the plate you could possibly have.
  3. Baseball is like, soooooo boring, its just a bunch of fats guys standing around No, that would be my SOFTBALL team
  4. Yea, problem is he probably told the same thing to all the other guards to get them to stay. Just not enough minutes for 7 guards, even if they play with a 3 guard line-up 100% of the time.
  5. I don't like the signing. A one-and-done guard doesn't help build this team. Why take minutes away from Duane Wilson, Dawson, Cohen, Johnson? This is the year those guys should get a ton of minutes. Along with Mayo, they now have 6 guys guards that should get playing time, and a 7th in Derek Wilson that shouldn't, but will. That means a couple of these guys won't get any minutes. MU shouldn't be signing anyone for the 2014 class that is under 6' 8".
  6. A name for the way you feel on an off day? I believe the term is Wangitis.
  7. There is a perfect solution. Try to trade him back, or release him. He's just a luxory we can't afford. Look, even in games a starter goes 7+ innings RR will still burn through at least 3/5 of KRod, Henderson, Thornburg, Duke, Smith. Because even if a reliever doesn't pitch a full inning, he will play the match-up game. Replace him with Kintzler when he comes back, and keep shuffling the last spot between Fiagarro, Wooten, Fiers, whoever. But everyone in the pen better be able to pitch in games other than 12-2 blow-outs.
  8. Hard to argue with any of that. But I think we need to be it in context. How good would the system look if Peralta, Thornburg, Gennett, and Davis were all in Nashville? Point being, a top shelf farm system is not needed at the moment. You always WANT a top tier system at all times, but the way the major league clud is structured now, I'm comfortable. At least in the area that's most important- pitching. I am concerned there isn't a big bat we can count on at the corner IF positions. As far as pitching goes, you have Peralta, Thornburg and Nelson. Very conceibvable 2 of the 3 can be top of the rotation guys. Each of them has already proved that at the major league level, albeit a small sample. Then you still have Gallardo, Lohse, Garza, and Estrada. Yes, some of those are relatively short term, but still. Plus, Will Smith is a viable option if they really want a LHP in the rotation. Beyond that, Fiers is a definite option at this point. Suter, Wagner, and Pena are all interesting prospects. (I haven't even mentioned Bradley, Cravy, Gagnon, etc....well now I guess I did.) And that's just A+ level on up. Bottom line, I think they have plenty of pitching in the system, when you consider they already have a very good rotation at the major league level.
  9. You could say the same thing about Orr. He's hitting very well and play more than one position. He even has more power than Velez. But he will never be in Milwaukee unless there's a pretty serious string of injuries.
  10. I know what you're getting at. But if a run is even more valuable, then doesn't it make sense to take an extra base when you're far more successful at it than the avg team? Going 1st to 3rd more often, trying to score, it's more important for a low OBP to take those chances becaue the next guy up isn't as likely to get a hit right? Hi SLG teams are more hot and cold, so you need (within reason) to try to score when you can, take an extra base when you can.
  11. It can also be advantageous to knock a starting pitcher out even earlier if you swing at hitable pitches and knock the ball all over the yard.
  12. It will be downtown, that's a given. I agree with JimH, they need to have some really nice scale models they can show off. A picture is worth a thousand words after all. They need to make it less about the Bucks, and more about a world class facility they can use for many purposes. Here's a thought. How about having a Wisconsin Sports Hall of Fame and Museum housed there? Works very well at Lambeau Field, and I think it would be a really cool thing to have in conjunction with the arena itself.
  13. It would have been very easy for RR or any Manager to give Henderson the closing role. He performed well in that role last year, yea his velocity is down, but we'll give him the job again. 90% of the time, that would have happened. So I give him a lot of credit for going with KRod. Same things with Weeks and Overbay. He did not go to a straight platoon with Reynolds/Overbay, instead he's given Reynolds most of the starts. Weeks ,with what he's making, plus being a veterran, etc. RR could have easily justified giving him more starts. But no, he has used the right players. Just like moving Segura down. He didn't wait 4 months to do it, it took 3 weeks. He has managed the pitching staff very well. I could quibble with a decision here and there, but generally speaking he has left the starters in the correct amount, and has used the pen wisely. All of these things are very refreshing, because I don't think he would have done any of these things in the past. I always give credit to people who learn from their mistakes. Play the best players, put them in the best position to be successful. Common sense, but that hasb't been the case in past seasons. As far as the aggresiveness goes, Topper has some nice stats in the IGT from yesterday. The Brewers are actually average in number of "outs on the basepaths." Yet they are at or near the top in taking extra bases per oppportunity. This tells me the aggressiveness IS paying off. RR can't control everything, like Davis running through a stop sign. No doubt he'll do something that will fire my rockets, the season is still early. But so far, I'm a fan. And I wouldn't have said that any other year he's been Manager here.
  14. I have never understood the point of power rankings. We can all see every team's record, doesn't that already rank everyone?
  15. Well said, TheCrew. Perfect way to handle that is scoreboard. How sweet is it to win in extra innings, just beat them 6/7 times. Now let them grumble about someone flipping a bat, sounds like a whining baby. But with Gomez starting a brawl, it takes some of that high ground away. Don't get me wrong though, brawl or no brawl I'll take 3/4 on the road any time!
  16. Yea, Hill is a loss but maybe a blessing in disguise. They have Wilson, Mayo, Dawson, Johnson, and Cohen at guard already. Plus Derek Wilson, who shouldn't be on the court but will be. That's 6 guards you have to find playing time for. I liked some of the things I saw from Dawson and Johnson, and one or both would probably be buried on the bench again if hill kept his commitment. Looks like they're also keeping the PG from Sun Prairie coming in the following year. So, like you said, they really need to focus on size now. Even 3 star guys that are 6'8", 6'9" that are either long or big. It does seem wrong somehow for a HC to recruit kids to a school, then leave and bring them over to the new school. Not the kids fault, I get that. But while you're employed at one place, doesn't seem right to use that to benefit yourself at the new employer. Maybe have a one yr period where you can't sign anyone you recruited at your prior school? With all the petty stuff the NCAA concerns itself with, just odd this is allowed.
  17. Would also help if they had another arm in the pen, instead of a guy who may/ may not develop into a MLB player some day.
  18. Sure, there are times when people will diasgree, and take things too far. I acknowledged that. That's not to say unwritten rules don't exist. They exist in the NFL and NBA too. For that matter, they exist in our every day lives. If antics in MLS weren't held in-check, what's next? Yo strikes someone out, then makes the "back to the dugout for you" gesture? Or Braun hits HR, and pulls some sort of prop he has hiddeen under his cap? That stuff gets out of control fast if it's not nipped in the bud.
  19. I guess I'm in the extreme minority, but I grew up accepting the unwritten rules of baseball. All the antics are what I hate about the NFL and NBA. Every pass in the NFL there's jawing between the WR and CB. A LB can stick someone after a 4 yard gain and beat his chest and run around. I hate that stuff. Frankly, it's something I always thought MLB had going for it. Players and Managers self-police all the BS. Benching a guy for not running to first, brushing someone off the plate if they did a bat flip in a previous AB, etc. However, I do think it has got a bit of control, I will grant you that. When a team isn't supposed to bunt in the FIRST INNING, there's no unwritten ruke about that. I don't like the bat flips, staring down a HR too long, etc. This is a slippery slope to where guys start doing all kinds of crazy antics. And yes, I do think the Brewers draw the ire of opposing teams and media moreso than other teams for some reason. There is a downside. Maybe umps subconsciously (or otherwise) just don't like the Brewers and it has an effect on ablls and strikes. Can never be proven, and maybe would never happen but I think it's possible. Not to mention putting yourself and your teammates at risk of getting drilled with a pitch and getting injured. Look, many of you have already said it. If Gomez (or Plush) was on the Cardinals you would hate him. That pretty much tells you the stuff he's doing is not called for. With all that said, it doesn't bother me that much- at least not yet.
  20. Ok, it's probably been asked in IGT before but why do fans boo on a throw to 1st? I've never understood that. (And it REALLY seems to upset Pirate fans)
  21. Yes, I made a snide comment about Scooter's arm. Doesn't mean I hate him. He has a bad arm, period. I've liked him since he was a Rattler, I still don't think long term he can play 2B full time, but he'll do for now.
