  1. As I said in my original post, why not use Nelson as a starter when one is needed? Essentially, what some of you are saying is we should have a worse bullpen so Fiers is ready to start when or even IF that is ever needed.
  2. Mike Fiers is simply dominant in AAA. Remember when he was pitching like this in Milwaukee? He was the best starter in the rotation for a couple months, so he has proven he can do this at the MLB level. We have Henderson with a sore shoulder, Kinzler who doesn't look like he has command with his sinker, Wooten who is just "ok", and Wang who will never be used unless the Brewers are down 10. Wouldn't Fiers be a better option in late innings than any of those guys? I know, there is value in letting him start in Nashville in case he needs to start in Milwaukee. I do get that. But Fiers isn't a 22 year old kid, isn't there something to the notion of using his arm while he's pitching like this? You could always stretch him out to start if necessary at some point in the season, but if a long term solution is needed there they probably go to Nelson anyhow. Bottom line, just seems like he's wasting away in Nashville while inferior pitchers are being trotted out in Milwaukee.
  3. Weeks has a right to be upset he won't get the necessary PA, and just not getting regular starts in general. Pretty sure anyone would feel that way, and Rickie has handled it pretty well. So have the Brewers, making it look good by offering playing time in LF. I don't think anything here is out of the ordinary. Brewers are doing what they need to do, Rickie isn't happy about it, but who would be? If he keeps getting on base, maybe they can trade him without having to pay all or most of his salary. Or if he stays and keeps getting on base, is that a problem? Platoon seems to be working fine if you ask me.
  4. I did not, sure 90 wasn't his slider? One fastball 89 and one 93. The rest were in between. Sliders were 81-83 on FSN. Yea, didnt think he threw a 90 slider. That is worth keeping an eye on then, but he seemed to cruise through
  5. BTW, good job Garza. That could have easily been much worse. Need more out of him than gutty 6 inning barely quality starts.
  6. My guess is when they taped this season, they didn't know if it would be the final season or not.
  7. Actually, I noticed this last night, if I remember right he topped off at 93, while earlier this eason he was hitting 96 consistently. So this move doesn't surprise me. Maybe he's a guy that needs more rest in between appearances, who knows.
  8. Thinking another move is coming today. Schafer coming back, someone to the DL. Braun, Garza, or Wang.
  9. Not venom, it's nothing personal- it's just that there are better options. The way the Brewers are built, there will be a lot of close games this year. And with 2 other LHP that will be used siuationally at times, they are going to need everyone in the pen to pitch important innings. In the AL this may work, but not with a Brewers team that will be in a ton of 4-3 type of games.
  10. Wang's a nice A ball arm. Period. He isn't worth wasting a 25 man slot for a contending team on the chance he's got anything more than a token big league career 4 years down the road. Current management will likely be long gone by then anyway. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but if Wang wasn't a lefty there's no chance the Brewers or anyone would have done this. If this was last year, fine, whatever. But not when it looks like they'll be a contender. Heck, they could even have Fiers in the pen.
  11. I don't think it will. Won 2 of 3 when they could have easily lost all 3. Split in Cincy and i would be thrilled.
  12. Wang will almost certainly get an inning or two. I imagine Thorny and Rodrigy are out, he probably doesn't want to use Hendy or Smithy either.
  13. Dead Simmons, I don't know what you do for a living, or if you're a student, etc. But I am willing to chip in to pay for a PTO day if you promise to be here this afternoon in the IGT.
  14. Don't do anything until you know whtehr the school is Mac or PC. Usually every school is more geared towards one of the other. And once the paperwork startes flying, they will let you know. Good to be out in front of this, but it can wait a couple months until you know for sure.
  15. It would depend how they're pitching down the stretch run. I wouldn't rule out Yo, he has pitched very well in the playoffs. But if that game was today, yes Lohse.
  16. LOL well said. Good thing is, I'm sure the Cardinal fans are saying the same thing about the Brewers.
  17. What, no love for calling my shot with Davis? I probably should have guaranteed it ; )
