  1. Right, and remember not all NBA teams have two traditional centers, or even one.
  2. Even if they are posturing, I can see one or more of the 3 parties involved backing out due to all the drama and spotlight.
  3. First sign of trouble, Ersan was involved. They should know by now you can't get rid of him. You're grandkids will be watching Ersan play for the Bucks.
  4. So the Kings agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with one of their players without checking it out with the player first? Holy crap! Seeing chatter that this might be to avoid any tampering talk. Right, anything is possible but hard to believe the Kings wouldn't have addressed this or the Bucks confirming it. I mean, you would think before any trade is made to would want to be sure the player is cool with coming here whether it's in his contract or not?
  5. Don't be naive. This study has been completed. Do you really believe if the study showed masks are effective it wouldn't already be leaked and front page headline on NYT? If you really believe that, cool. We all know why report hasn't been released, formally or otherwise.
  6. Alexander will have TWO years left after this year. 5 years total as a 1st round pick. I'd assume they back up the brinks truck for him as well, but they have a little more time there to work. Nope. It's a 4 year contract. Alexander is RFA in 2022.
  7. "The experts" have been wrong about just about everything Covid related, so I won't be following their advice, no. Virus is not spread by human/human contact. (When it was already proven it does.) Virus is not spread airborne. Facemasks do not help. Facemasks DO help prevent spreading to others, but doesn't protect you. Facemasks DO protect you as well. No way will vaccine be ready by the end of the year. Denmark completed the largest randomized controlled study of masks. Result? They don't work. Same thing WHO found in 2019. But results of the Denmark study will never be made public, because politics come before public health. Covid-19 is spread from symptomatic people coming into contact with others. Can someone who's asymptomatic or presymptomatic spread it, sure, probably. But largely unproven, especially the chance of spread. So take precautions, of course. But there's no reason not to have Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think masks work to some degree but that degree has been drastically overstated and too many are acting like it is a magic shield. I'm mostly with you though. I don't say it to anybody because it's just not worth fighting. So much of this is posturing and using any kind of study at this point as concrete evidence as to why one place did well and another didn't is just so premature. I wear one everywhere because it's easy but I've never really believed it's doing a whole lot. My belief is that in the end, Korea and New Zealand will have benefited from easily sealed off borders and extremely healthy people more than some fabric and distancing. That won't be stated conclusively until years from now though. It won't take years. The Denmark mask study used 6,000 people. It had wide acceptance from the scientific community. But they don't like the results, which is why it's not being released. People, and journalists, used to question everything. Those days are gone. I've said itbefore, but I wear a mask anywhere I go. With all the rules changing constantly, just easier to always wear it. Honestly, the experts screwed us here by focusing on too many thigs, including ones like masks that are virtually meaningless.

  10. Alexander is another guy that fits into all this. RFA after next year, and arguably right behind Rodgers and Adams in terms of value to the team.

  12. Sure, but if they're at the stage where they're trading players to recoup picks, that means they're likely a bad team and the players they'd be trading would likely be Holliday(assuming he extends), Middleton, and Bogdanovic. Right, that's why it's a win/win. If they continue to be a title contender, 29th or 30th pick is't really worth much- even as trade bait. If they're bad, it's only because Giannis demands a trade at some point. Then you blow it all up anyhow. Trade away Giannis, Kris....everybody and you get 1st round picks back and a ton of cap room.
  13. Looked up Bogdan, surprised he's only 37% 3FG%. I realize that's very good, but not elite like I thought. 1st round picks don't matter much. Giannis is going to sign no matter what. The only question was/is whether he demands a trade after another year or two. Then you get that boatload of 1st round picks back again. Biggest need at this point is a tough, athletic big man. None of this changes two main reasons they wee bounced from playoffs the past two years. Giannis and Bud need to be better in the playoffs, or it doesn't matter how they shuffle the rest of the chairs. Don't be concerned Jrue only has one year left, that's a good thing. That opens up $27MM in cap space after this season.
  14. That's the problem Reilly, many people (including here) have no nuance. They are saying grandma and grandpa shouldn't see their kids. What you describe above is how I think most of us are handling this.
  15. From what I've heard, it may be one of 'those things', but it's a pretty lonely and not real great way to go. Also, isn't getting together like that inherently not taking the precautions that would help keep that low on the list? Where is the 'two years' thing coming from? By all accounts, there's going to be a vaccine sometime within the next few months. Honestly, I might actually support a voluntary COVID-like indemnity agreement that basically says 'I'm choosing to take my own risks, so you can treat others medically before me as a result.' If you want to engage in risky behaviors that only effect you, fine, I suppose. But then live (or I guess maybe not?) with the consequences of your actions and don't infringe on those that did what they were supposed to. But the reality is, those personal decisions can have a negative impact on others, so it's not as simple as you'd like, unfortunately. Two years is the estimate we hear from Fauci and many others. We are told vaccine is part off the solution, but it's still not 100% effective, and the at-risk population should continue to quarantine. Two years is a guess, but certainly at least a year and a half. It could be over two years before Covid 19 is gone completely. No Covid-19 is not a good way to go. Neither is pneumonia, stroke, or a whole lot of things that happen every day. And far more likely to occur than contracting and becoming gravely ill due to Covid. It's math. We do take precautions. Other than Dr. appts that are absolutely necessary, I think they've been out of their place twice since March. One thing that's happened during this pandemic is people have lost all sense of proportionality. Yes, one of us may have Covid and not know it. Yes, one of us could pass it on them. And yes, they could be one of the few that has serious problems as a result. That could happen, in fact more likely to happen, at the clinic. It is as simple as I'd like. My parents want to see their children before they die. I have no problem at all making that happen, and I will never be forced to believe it's amoral.
  16. That's a horrible analogy, and incredibly rude. But that's ok. A hurricane is a short lived event. The risk/reward says evacuation is an easy thing to do, even though chances of death/ severe bodily harm is still very low. If Covid were a short term event, that happened only over Thanksgiving, or even a month, it would be a better analogy. The elderly, by definition, are more likely to die of virtually anything over a two year period. Covid is just one of those things, and pretty low on the list when precautions are taken. If you want to tell elderly people they're better off not seeing their family for two years, when there's a very real possibility that may never happen, be my guest. But that's their decision. Not yours. Not a governor, not a president.
  17. That's what worries me, along with the hunting opener next weekend. I've seen several posts and memes going around Facebook in the last few days indicating ideas like "you don't know how much time you have left with your loved ones, so don't sacrifice your holidays with them". It makes me want to slap those people upside the head. I mean, I get that family time and tradition is important, but if there was one time where it's prudent to break with tradition, this is the year to do it. In your opinion it's prudent. Politicians say it's prudent- for everyone else but them. Slap me in the face, because it's not prudent for my family. I haven't see my siblings all year. More importantly, my parent haven't seen my siblings all year. Two of them have a few days off around Thanksgiving, and they are traveling back to WI. We are having everyone over at our house. Oh no!!! You tell my parents who are 89 and 88 that they need to wait two years for the virus to pass to see their children and grandchildren. Yes, there's a chance one of us pass on the virus to them. Odds of that happening AND dying from it are way less than one of them dying from lots of other causes at their age over a two year period. They've seen over 24 people now test positive in their senior living community, between staff and residents. Not one has been hospitalized. So they want to see everyone, not knowing when they'll get that opportunity again. Weighing the risk, this is an easy call to make. We won't even sing, just to be sure.
  18. Just finished "Trapped" on Amazon Prime. Two season series, a murder/mystery but 100% filmed in Iceland with Icelandic actors. That means lots of sub-titles. Normally something I would never even try because of that, but it wan't distracting. Really outstanding series.
  19. Remember Moderna and J&J are very close to announcing results of their phase 3 findings. What happens if their findings are very similar to Pfizer? Does the FDA pick one they think is best, or do they make them all available for distribution- at least in the short term?
  20. Watching "Trapped" series now. It's outstanding. Patriot is best series nobody has heard of. Goliath, first two seasons, Bosch, and Sneaky Pete all worth watching. There's a decent amount of really good stuff on Amazon, that's just off the top of my head.
  21. Nobody thinks advertising "works" on them. But there's a reason people want Coke, or Bud Light, or Gruber. We did taste tests many years ago for a college marketing course, and one test was colas. Walmart brand won, RC was in 2nd, then Coke and Pepsi. Similar results with other name brands. With politics, it's not all about changing your mind. It's about getting you revved up enough to actually vote. Better yet, get you to volunteer for the campaign, or put up a yard sign, tell others to vote etc. That said, yea it's a ridiculous amount of money spent, but there's no turning back now.
  22. ?? Nine people there currently, and they've had patients there since early this past week, I believe: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/alternate-care-facility.htm 9. Exactly. Statewide crisis it is not.
  23. Are you suggesting that they are putting people in ICU that don't require intensive care? And that this generates additional revenue for the hospital? My dad was admitted to ICU because it was empty, and the senior care wing was full. They did not bill medicare for icu care, they just used the room. This is very common, so yes, we have no idea how many ICU beds filled today actually need icu level care. Also, non-icu hospitalizations could be up if enough beds were available. Nirhing nefarious there, if it's a close call or someone really wants to be hospitalized, why not use an empty bed? Insurance companies aren't going to fight anything covid related, so why not. State Fair hospital is still empty. Over a week ago we were told hospitals were at or near max, so you do the math. That could all change this week, we'll see.
  24. Or it could mean ICU beds are being used because they're available, and same is true of regular hospital beds. Maybe not all ICU patients actually need to be there. Not saying that's the case, but would not surprise me. Rule #1 is always follow the money. Hospitals are hurting, and if they have space why not fill it? We'll find out soon enough I guess.
