  1. You're getting a lot of good advice on the gear, toys, etc. From a financial perspective: 1) Make sure you have a "proper" amount of life insurance for yourself and/or your wife. 2) Set-up 529 plans as soon as possible, start contributing what you can. 3) Get them on the Packers season ticket waiting list.
  2. How certain are we there will be no long-term side effects, problems, etc. with the vaccine? Because if it's only a matter of 20% chance of slight fever, there's no reason for anyone NOT to get immunized. The effectiveness shouldn't even be a question. If it's, let's say, 70% effective it's still worth it. Then you just get immunized again when there's a better vaccine. I would think better therapeutics will be available around the same time the vaccine is approved. So with that combination, we really should be able to get back to normal, finally. Once everyone has had a chance to be vaccinated. If you take a pass, you're on your own.
  3. 21-2 run and counting, wow
  4. Counterpoint: You prefer Kraig Kounsell and SeeSee Sabathia? Actually, yes, I love it!
  5. I have that saved for my watch list. Also, there's a new documentary about pro blackjack players that travel the country. Sorry, can't recall the name.
  6. Yea, there's no apology that could have worked and he was doing it on the fly. He could have apologized for being homophobic, something he'll work on, etc, rather than acting like saying a derogatory word is the problem. But it doesn't matter, he's done and should be done. That said, I do think context matters. In this case, it was said in a hateful, derogatory manner. But I have heard gay used as an adjective by people I know for a fact are not homophobic. Just used in a sophomoric way. It shouldn't be said anyhow, just saying I don't agree with an automatic ban for anyone who ever says one thing.
  7. Yea, at least they don't need him to play a big role. Somehow that crappy Stearns built a pen with 8 or 9 guys better than your closer from a year ago.
  8. that's easy to say, but has there ever been an MVP that hasn't. that's great to say, but if he is the best player in the league, he is going to want to have the ball in his hands, or go somewhere where he can. Shaq, or any Center who has ever been MVP. Bird, Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Kawhi, Barkley. That's just off the top of my head, not all were even MVP but could have been. I get he wants it in his hands, and he still should have the ball in his hands a lot. But it's not what's best for this offense. That only works when you can knock down the 3 at a high percentage, making yourself a triple threat.
  9. That's the problem, Giannis can't do it by himself but he wants to. Adding another playmaker would not matter, Giannis wants the ball in his hands all the time. This is Bud's failure, being able to convince Giannis that he'll be better, more importantly the team will be better if he doesn't start the offensive sets.
  10. That's the problem. It's not about having a big time #2 or #3 scorer. There's plenty of guys who can score when put in a good position to do so. But the entire Bucks offense is Giannis pounding it into the ground at the top of the key. One or two passes and someone turns it over over fires up a contested three. Just really bad basketball IQ for such a veteran team.
  11. Plenty of soft tossers in the pen, but as long as they get batters out that's fine with me.
  12. Stearns lost Grandal and Moose (and now Cain), yet has this team competing for a playoff birth again. His performance his first few years on the job makes him one of the best GMs throughout pro sports. I actually think this season was his best work yet, since he had little money to spend and extremely limited in top end prospects to deal.
  13. Kicking myself. I knew this thread was yahoo style clickbait, and I took the bait. I'll spare you the suspense. "Has anyone lost confidence in CC???" thread is soon to follow,
  14. An exception will be made. Cardinals are given a playoff birth as the #9 seed, they go on to win the WS.
  15. I feel the same way about the letter C. What does it do that K and S don't? Combine with the letter "H" to make "Ch"? ("Che" in the Spanish alphabet.) No, I agree with Thurston that C is worthless. Cubs. Cardinals. I rest my case.
  16. TIL "irregardless" is not a word. Well, technically it's a non-standard word. Irregardless, I won't be using it since it has the same meaning as regardless.
  17. I'm on board ever since the come from behind win in the 9th. Opening day was meh....oh yea Brewers play tonight. Whole Cubs series was like that for me. But I'm (mostly) back into it now. Sort of forcing myself to go all in, not letting Covid win.
  18. Has there even been a confirmed case in MLB since they started playing? The Marlins players were in ATL prior to the season starting. Doesn't seem like there's any evidence of any new cases related to the start of the season, whether it be spitting, high fives, no masks, or anything else.
  19. That about sums it up. The three biggest bats in the lineup have done virtually nothing. Many of the newcomers and role players have looked pretty good. Our big bats will wake up so I'm not too worried there. The starting rotation is my biggest concern. We don't have 162 games to figure that out. If Burnes or Freddy come out shaky next start it has to be a quick hook followed by a bullpen assignment. Short season makes the "out getter" model even more easy to manage. It's worked the last couple years, this year's staff is pretty similar. But scoring runS plural is going to be a chore too many nights.
  20. If you're honestly expecting that, I'm sorry to say you'll be very disappointed.
