  1. Yea, on an indivual basis I don't think it matters much. Would rather see braun crush a first pitch "get me over curve" than taking pitches just for the sake of taking them. With that said, the benefit of taking pitches as a whole is that it gets you to the bullpen sooner. That can really have a huge impact on a game, and the entire series.
  2. Problem is, Hart has to lead-off because he's comfortable there. Seems to mee it's the Manager's job to put players in the best positions, and help MAKE them comfortable there. Aoki and Hart should be flip-flopped, but probably doesn't make that much difference at the end of the day.
  3. I don't like the hit and run, but if there's ever a time to use it, it's with Aoki. Better still if Gomez/Plush is the runner on 1B. Not saying they do this every time, but if it means less bunting I think they should mix in the hit and run with Aoki batting and Braun on deck. Still, IBB Braun is going to happen- even with a runner on first. Not always a true IBB, but certain teams will not want to pitch to him. Not the worst thing in the word to put two runners on ahead of Ramirez. Plus it moves the line-up through faster and gives the top of the order one more AB per game. (Not saying that's the reason you would have Aoki bunt all the time, just saying that at least some positives come from it.)
  4. Exactly. Not like Ethier isn't raking. Didn't like that one bit. In hindsight after watching the rest of the inning play out, maybe he was trying to throw strikes and couldn't? Yeah, he's definitely off. As a former pitcher, it's a REALLY bad feeling when you can't find the strike zone (I'm sure that's a big revelation). Didn't happen to me often, fortunately, but it was especially disturbing when it did because I was a control pitcher. Sometimes you just have one of those days. Your control wasn't that great. I always raked when I faced you.
  5. 1. Thornburg 2. Jungmann 3. Nelson 4. Gennett 5. Schafer 6. Bradley 7. Rivera 8. Lopez 9. Gindl 10. Peralta
  6. If he did puch a wall, why wouldn't he just say he was injured in the previous game, or slammed his hand in the car door? The great detail and odd circumstances he provided seems too unusual and etailed for it NOT to be true. Think about it. How would you even come up with a story about socks and suitcases? Drop something on the floor while sitting down and reach down to pick it up. I noticed it's habit, don't een thin about it, but my fist is closed braced against my desk. Not a really tight fist, but a fist. So IF it is a boxers fracture (which we don't know is fact) it could have easily happened exactly the way Lucroy described. And again, I really don't think he would put himself and his wife through public abuse if it dodn't really happen that way. Plenty of easy excuses to come up with otherwise.
  7. Don't know if Fiers is married, but if he is keep his wife and her luggage away from him tonight!
  8. I agree. Or Morgan/Gomez straight platoon in CF, Aoki in RF, Hart at 1B every day. Either way would be fine with me.
  9. Fiers seems very calm and confident out there, I like that.
  10. It's all good. Just one of my pet peeves. Still BFF. I understand, mine is when Augustine refers to Axford as "Axfer" Big inning for Fiers here.
  11. It's not funny to me Nyjer that nobody on this team ever knows how many outs there are.
  12. Brewers are past the point of making decisions with attendance in mind. You strive to make the team better, and attendance will follow. Plus, Greinke isn't exactly a fan favorite. Not like Sabathia was in his short time here, certainly not at the level of Prince. With that in mind, I wouldn't trade Greinke just for the sake of trading him. But if he's dominant or near dominant come July/August I think they can a lot for him. Teams like the Orioles, Nationals, Indians, Mets, etc. may be in contention and those franchises have waited a long time- some of them very, very long. I don't see it as rebuilding. Simply building the best roster you can with limited resources. Does the rotation next year without Greinke scare me? Yes. Especially when you see Peralta's results this year. But I simply don't want to tie up 25% of the salary on one player, then hope he's really good AND healthy for the next 5 years. Frankly, with or without Greinke this team will struggle to be a true contender this year or next. Bottom line, if the Brewers broke the bank on a player it should have been Fielder or Sabathia, not Greinke.
  13. I try very hard to forget anything Suppan did as a Brewer.
  14. How do you know that? It's why gambling is banned-period. Otherwise you start down this slippery slope of having to prove someone actually bet on their own team to tank. (And, no, I don't believe Rose did that.) For those of you that said Rose the player and Rose the manager are two different people, pretty sure that breaks many laws of nature. (Although admitedly I never did very well in science courses.)
  15. You don't care that he bet on baseball, perfectly valid opinion. Do you have limits? For example, would you care if he bet on the Reds to lose, either as a player or manager? Just curious if your opinion is an absolute, or if you have limits on what you would allow as far as gambling is concerned.
  16. Most likely that's true, but we don't know that for sure.
  17. No. He bet on baseball and you just can't do that. A player taking illegal substance is open for debate, but gambling on baseball threatens the legitimacy of MLB as JimH5 said. It is the absolute law. Everyone in MLB knows it, then and now. I don't even care too much about him lying about about it. The fact that he gambled is enough for me, and always will be. Ever since the point shaving scandals were uncovered in NCAA basketball, I raise my eyebrow when I see something unusual happening late in a game. NBA refs were fired bot betting on games. You jsut can't have it- period. If you want to kill a sport, just put an ounce of doubt whether the game is legit of jsut pre-determined entertainment.
  18. Honestly? Because there is no thread about Yuni or McGehee this year.
  19. I agree, and use that line myself! That's why I said I would prefer Thorny or Fiers. My point was, I wouldn't fly off the handle if they let Parra start. Doesn't even have to be for the rest of the year. It's just that I see no harm in letting him start a couple times. Maybe he's matured, maybe he now understands how to get through a lineup 3 times. So while he wouldn't be my first choice, would be interesting to see if he's figured it out, or if he is the same old Parra as a starter. It's just that as set as the rotation was the last two seasons, that's how unsettled it is for next year. We have Yo and probably Thornburg. The rest is up in the air. If Parra, Fiers, or Estrada are the anser at all as the #5 starter, would be nice to find that out this season.
