  1. I notice comments in the daily reports about the Manatees defense. Small sample, but I was down in Brevard County for Spring Break, and saw their first two games. Sure, the oustanding pitching has something to do with the defense. Beyond that, I was very impressed with their overall defense. Made all the routine plays, even saw a couple of outstanding plays. Even watching them warm up and throw the ball around between innings, they look very sharp.
  2. no, he won't go small ball here. (Edit) Wow, didn't expect even RRR to bunt here.
  3. A great hitter hit a HR. KRod struck out the best hitter in MLB right before him. Welcome to MLB.
  4. I like it in this situation. This team's whole formula of success is built on bringing a lead into the 8th. If KRod/Ax fail, sobeit.
  5. The hot hand does exist. No denying it. Look at any player's best week (or month) and their worst. Clearly spikes in performance exist. The question is when do you take advantage of it. I think we all agree it wouldn't make sense to constantly play chess with who starts, the lineup, etc. Morgan, however, is worthy of discussion. Look at his numbers year to year, and it's not surprising he's struggling this year. Aoki is hard to project, but I just believe he's worth a look. Better to do that in April than September. (Although I'll admit I don't know how Aoki's defense compares to Morgan.) Gomez does have a track record. Playing full time he simply can't keep up this pace, or at least never has. I think we should be thankful he's productive in his role, and if he can come close to keeping up this pace all year, that's a win.
  6. I like the way RR is using Gomez. He's productive in the straight platoon and PH role. I don't think he would be as productive playing every day.
  7. Morgan needs some time off. Let Aoki take on that role for a couple weeks and see what he can do.
  8. Neither after a couple ABs. I didn't want him, but even at that he's notorious for being a slow starter. He'll get it going and be productive.
  9. Why does game day say we have 2 runs, isn't it 3? (Edit) Nevermind, Itzy didn't score on Weeks double
  10. I hate power rankings, as the concept doesn't make sense to me. USA Today and all sorts of media sources do this for MLB, NFL, etc. All they do is bascially rank teams by their record. My question is this. Isn't that the same thing as looking at the standings? Wow, Dodgers have the best record. I need a whole separate power rankings analysis to tell me that? (Nevermind the fact that after 10 games what does it matter who's #21 in power ranking??)
  11. Ramirez was a panic signing, and anti-Moneyball. Especially for more than one year. Said it before the signing, after the signing, and unfortunately I'll still be saying it in August....and next August. Why is it that other MLB teams value our prospects more than Melvin?
  12. Toyed with posting a similar topic myself Adam. You lose Hairston, Saito, and Hawkins. Replace them with Izturis, Dillard, and Parra. No reason they couldn't have built a bullpen that makes sense, and bench players that fit wh is needed. Frankly, I said long ago they should have let Morgan walk and use that money on the bullpen. You caught lightning in a bottle one year with Plush, be thankful and move on. Aoki should be getting that playing time and ABs.
  13. Usually don't like IBB but would have done it here. Soley because it was Bourn at 3rd. In that situation,he's going on contact. Even if its hit directly to someone, he coulstill easily score. You walk Ugla, then hope for a dp, pop-up or so. Its not like dp is the only way out of the inning.
  14. At least for now, lets go with Hart in the 4 spot, Gomez starting most games.
  15. If Estrada is the white flag, what does that make Dillard?? Caution flag?
  16. Thats ok, Auggie still refers to our closer as "Asfur"
  17. If they don't use Ax or Krod in those situations the Br ewers will be dead by July.
  18. Bogut could be the 3rd best player on a championship team. That's not bad at all. Jennings may be developing into the 2nd best player. Add in roles players like Ersan, The Prince, etc. and they're not far off from being a true contender. All they're missing is true stud like a Durant, Wade, or Kobe. That's a lot of luck more than anything.
  19. Coulda, shoulda...I know... but they should have won 2/3 of the Charlotte/Denver/Sac games. Nice to see Jack coming into form. Man, what steal they got with Leuer in 2nd round. Trying not to reach too far, but could Leuer be a legit stud? The guy has great awareness and bball IQ, that won't go away. A big guy who can post, hit a mid-range jumper, and can put it on the floor and get to the rack. Just not a lot of guys his size with that skill set. Not to mention he can hit 3s also- just hasn't pushed the envelope yet. Much better defensive player than I thought he would be in the NBA on top of it.
  20. "I had to Jetsons the rest of the poster too" Pretty solid episode, except the "Ben" character really annoys me for some reason.
  21. As of right now, I don't believe anyone. I don't believe ESPN, as they have proven numerous times they're "breaking news" stories are partially true, or not true at all. With that said, I don't believe Ryan Braun either necessarily. I've met Braun, seemed like a nice guy and not arrogant as we often hear. But I don't KNOW him, and I doubt any of us do. We all have players we like personally, based on what we know about them. But our perceptions are often dead wrong. So I'll only be mildly surprised (yet very upset) if he does end up being suspended. Putting perceptions aside, we have a player with a lingering injury, textbook case for someone who may want a little extra help in recovery. I don't know if that's true, I hope it isn't. But just because he's Ryan Braun, I like him, and he doesn't "seem" like a guy who would juice, doesn't make it so. Atmitedly, I know very little about the science of testing. Just seems to me IF he did fail a test, that doesn't look good. Regardless if he passed a second test or not. I would need to know what the percentage of false positives are in this type of testing.
